HOW CAN USE

Before first use
Place the appliance onto a flat surface outside the reach of other objects, splashing water etc. and connect the power cord plug into a 230 V grid. Notice: To remove dust that may have accumulated inside the appliance in the manufacturing process, first operate the toaster at least twice “unloaded”, i.e. without toasts inside and set to the highest toasting level (6 control lights on).
Toasting sandwiches
Insert a slice of toast bread into either slot of the toaster (1) and press down the push-down lever to start heating (2). The slices will be pulled inside, the push-down heating lever will stay in the lower position, heating will be initiated and the control lights indicating the toasting level will go on. Notice: If the push-down heating lever does not stay in the lower position after being pressed down, check that the toaster is correctly connected to the grid.
Setting toasting level
Use the “-/+” buttons to set the required toasting level: 1 or 2 control lights on for lightly toasted bread, 3 or 4 control lights on for moderately toasted bread and 5 or 6 control lights on for well browned toasts (3).
Notice: When toasting only a single slice of toast bread, adjust the setting by reducing the toasting level by one to two control lights.
Quick switch off
To check the toasts in the process, press the quick switch off button (OFF) (4). The push-down heating lever will be released, the toasted bread will pop up and the heating will stop. Check the toasting level and continue toasting or remove the toasts, as required. Useful hint: Use the Reheating programme (see below) to briefl y fi nish toasts that are almost done.

Reheating

If a toasted bread has cooled down in the toaster, press down the push-down heating lever and then press the reheating button (5); the toast will be briefl y toasted until crispy.
Toasting frozen bread
Place two slices of frozen toast bread into the toaster, press down the push- down heating lever, press the button for toasting frozen bread (6) and set the same toasting level as when toasting non-frozen bread. The slices will fi rst be defrosted and then toasted to the required level.
Ending the heating process
Toaster PRESIDENT always ends the toasting process automatically – the push- down heating lever is released spontaneously and returns to the upper position, heating is switched off and the toasted bread partly pops up from the toaster. Never stop heating by pushing the lever upwards; to stop heating immediately, use exclusively the quick switch off button (OFF). Before removing toasted bread from the toaster, always leave it to cool down for several seconds.

Crumb tray

Crumbs from toasts are accumulated in the tray in the bottom of the toaster. Regularly check the tray (7) and always remove the accumulated crumbs.

Cleaning

Disconnect the toaster from the grid before cleaning and let it cool down entirely. Clean the outer surface of the toaster and the crumb tray using a moistened cloth and dry them. Make sure in cleaning that moisture or cleaning agents do not enter the appliance. Do not wash the toaster or the crumb tray under running water or in dishwasher! Never use abrasive cleaning agents, sharp objects, scourers etc. for cleaning the outer stainless steel surface.

Storage and maintenance

Store the toaster in a dry place, with the power cord wound in the bottom of the appliance (8). Do not repair a faulty toaster yourself; instead contact a TESCOMA service centre; for contact details, see www.tescoma.com.
