FEATURES

The main features of a good mask are listed below in the right sequence:

  • Fitting: the mask on your face, without strap, has to stay on snugly, just by inhaling through the nose, unless you have a beard or moustache.
  • Visibility: maximum field of view.
  • Low volume: inner glasses, as close as possible to your eyes, without hurting your face.
  • Easy equalization: there must be space enough for the fingers, even with gloves, to squeeze the nose.

All SCUBAPRO masks have a balance combination of the above features plus top quality materials and additional functions for easy use and comfort
PRE-DIVE CHECK
All parts of the mask have to be checked to be in perfect working condition. This includes the strap, buckles skirt and glass lenses. If any of the following tests shows a negative result, please take the mask to an authorized SCUBAPRO dealer.

  • Skirt: before every dive perform a leak test for the mask by pressing the mask on your face with one hand and generating an under pressure by inhaling through your nose. The mask should stay on your face when you breathe-in and hold your breath, creating a vacuum and suction. Head and facial hair can influence the result.
  • Mask Strap: before every dive pull on the strap with approx. 3 kilo force to check if the strap is okay.
  • Buckles: before every dive check if the buckles work perfectly by adjusting them back and forth.
  • Perform a visual inspection of the mask to ensure no damage to the frame, glass or any other part of the mask.

USE

WARNING

  • Do not jump head or face first into the water. When entering the water, cover the mask glass with your hand and hold the mask in place.
  • Do not drop the mask against sharp objects and avoid also an impact with sharp objects when wearing: the strong impact can break the lenses and injure the user.
  1. If the lens starts fogging, use the SCUBAPRO antifog solution on the inner surface, then rinse the mask thoroughly in the water (repeat three times this operation, if the mask is new). Never use solvents or cleaners such as alcohol, etc., but, in case, only liquid soap.

  2. Mask squeezing:
Deeper than 2 m. (6 feet), in free diving, the depth pressure squeezes the mask against your face: to prevent that, just exhale through the nose.

  3. Eardrum squeezing:
To prevent that dangerous action, pinch the nose with the fingers and blow through it, in order to send air pressure inside the eardrum.

  4. To not lose the mask before diving / – snorkeling, wear it loosely around your neck. Be careful not to get caught anywhere to avoid strangulation and injury. Therefore, put the mask on just before diving / snorkeling.

  5. When removing the mask, make sure that the hair is not tangled in the buckles. This can lead to painful problems like pulling hair out. Use the SCUBAPRO buckle protection (P/N 24.105.000) to avoid this.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

Rinse your mask thoroughly with fresh water after each dive. Let it dry in a fresh place away from direct sunlight. When the mask is completely dry, store it in the transport box (depending on the mask model)
Attention: any contact of the clear silicone skirt/strap with black rubber items, could cause browning of it.
Our masks are fabricated with phthalate free, non-toxic materials and comply to strict safety standards.
