PowerPac PP3883BK Socket Safety Extension Socket
Please note that an extension cable is a temporary solution and is not meant
as a long-term extension of your household’s electrical system. DO NOT
substitute extension cables for permanent wiring. Have additional outlets
installed where you need them.
Using extension cables properly is critical to your safety. With continuous
use over time, an extension cable can rapidly deteriorate, creating a
potentially dangerous electric shock or fire hazard.
Parts & Description
Warnings
ATTENTION :
Read this booklet carefully as it contains important instructions for safe
installation, use, and maintenance. Important instructions are to be kept for
future reference. The following basic precautions should always be followed
when using electrical appliances:
-
Read all instructions before using the Extension Socket. The Extension Socket
-
This Extension Socket must be used only for the purpose it was expressly designed; any use NOT complying with the instructions contained in the manual is considered inappropriate and dangerous. The manufacturer is NOT responsible for possible damages caused by the inappropriate and/or unreasonable use.
-
The installation of the Extension Socket will be made by the indications of the manufacturer. A wrong procedure may cause damages to persons, animals, or objects, for which the manufacturer cannot be considered responsible.
-
Before use, check the integrity of the powerboard, power cable, and plug. DO NOT operate the Extension Socket when any of these are damaged. In case you are not sure, contact a qualified person. If the device is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer its service agent, or a qualified technician to avoid a shock hazard.
-
Before powering the Extension Socket make sure the rating (voltage and frequency) corresponding to the grid and the socket are suitable for the plug of the device, and that the wall socket is properly grounded. This device is fitted with an earth wire for extra safety.
-
Check the Extension Socket’s wattage rating, which is the amount of electricity it can safely transmit per second, and is provided either in watts or in amps and volts. (Multiply the amps and volts together to get the wattage rating.) The wattage rating
must be greater than the appliance’s power requirement. If you plan to plug multiple appliances into an extension socket, add their wattages together to make sure the total DOES NOT exceed the extension socket’s wattage rating. -
Make sure to choose a power cable that’s long enough, and DO NOT attempt to extend the length by connecting multiple extension sockets. This mistake can lead to fires, equipment failures, and electrocution. Power cable ratings are determined by length. Plugging two cables together reduces their current capacity in half which will result in voltage drop and overheating.
-
The Extension Socket must NOT be switched on using external timers and/or other remote control appliances which are not specified in this manual.
-
Only use original components & accessories provided by the manufacturer. Any non-original component or accessory NOT recommended by the manufacturer (including those made by other manufacturers or by the same manufacturer but for other models) may cause injuries to persons or damage to the Extension Socket.
-
The packing materials (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, etc.) must be kept out of the reach of children or disabled persons since they represent potential sources of danger.
Location -
This Extension Socket is NOT suitable to be used or stored near heat sources (open flame, ovens, heaters, stoves, etc.) and/or in an explosive environment (in the presence of flammable substances such as gas, vapor, mist, or dust, in atmospheric conditions when, after ignition, the combustion is spread in the air). Items containing these substances should never be placed in the device, and never be used to clean the appliance to avert the risk of fire or explosion.
-
The Extension Socket should NOT be placed on a surface, or in the vicinity of objects which can be damaged by heat such as carpets or plastics. DO NOT locate multiple Extension Sockets close to each other. During operation, as heat is transferred away from the powerboard, the surface that the powerboard is placed upon as well as the surface immediately above or adjacent to it may become very hot. If the powerboard is operated on wooden furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to delicate finishes.
-
Avoid placing the Extension Socket’s power cable on abrasive or sharp surfaces or in positions where it can be damaged easily. DO NOT damage a cable’s insulation by dropping tools or materials on them, pinching them indoors and windows or under heavy furniture, dropping tools or materials on them or letting them hang in the air while plugs are attached to the powerboard.
-
Position the Extension Socket’s power cable carefully to avoid accidents. Lay the cable around the edges of a room. Arrange the cable away from the high traffic area, and where it will NOT be tripped over. The device should be plugged into outlets in the same room where work is being performed. DO NOT run the cable through walls, ceilings, or floors. The cable must NOT be placed under carpets, or covered with throw rugs, runners, or similar. If a cable is covered, heat cannot escape, which may result in a fire hazard.
-
DO NOT use or store the Extension Socket outdoors. Store and use the device only indoors, or in any case, protected from weather such as rain, direct radiation of the sun and dust. Outdoor cables have insulation that protects against moisture, sunlight, and abrasion, so using an indoor cable outdoors can create a fire hazard or result in electric shock. Operation
-
If you are using the Extension Socket for the first time, you should:
- a. Uncoil the Extension Socket’s power cable before use.
- b. Clean the powerboard, cable, and plug with a slightly damp cloth. Ensure that the Extension Socket is completely dry before use. DO NOT use metal scouring pads.
- c. Place the Extension Socket on a horizontal, stable, dry, and heat-resistant surface. You may attach the device to a wall with nails or screws.
- d. Make sure to remove any label or protective sheet which may prevent its proper functioning.
- DO NOT:
- cover the powerboard during functioning;
- insert objects or body parts inside the protection cover of the appliance;
- locate the powerboard near curtains or textiles;
- leave the Extension Socket unsupervised during operation.
- During operation, DO NOT touch the Extension Socket with wet body parts, and it is recommended to have between you and the standing surface, an isolating element (for example, wearing shoes with rubber soles).
- DO NOT soak the Extension Socket in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let any liquid flow into the internal casing of the plug or powerboard to prevent electric shock. In case of an accidental fall in water, DO NOT try to take it out, but immediately unplug the power cable from the socket.
- Switch the Extension Socket off by turning the individual switches (if any) to OFF, switch the wall switch OFF and detach the 3-pin plug from the wall socket. Thereafter detach the plugs of any appliances inserted into the powerboard if there is NOT used for a long period, and before storing, cleaning, or performing any maintenance operation.
- Insert and detach the Extension Socket’s 3-pin plug from the wall socket holding it firmly with dry hands. Always detach the 3-pin plug to avoid overheating. DO Do NOT pull the power cable, tug it, or use it to drag the powerboard.
-
In case of malfunction or anomaly during the functioning such as smoke coming out of the appliance, switch the wall switch off immediately, and unplug the Adapter Socket and check the cause of the anomaly, if possible, with the support of a qualified person.
-
This Extension Socket is NOT intended for commercial use but to be used in households and similar applications, such as:

- Place the powerboard on a cool dry surface, away from heat sources and away from combustible surfaces or those sensitive to heat.
- Insert the plugs of appliances into the powerboard. When using multiple appliances, add their wattages together to make sure the total DOES NOT exceed the Extension Socket’s wattage rating.
- Switch the wall switch ON.
- Thereafter, switch the individual switches on the powerboard ON. The LED neon power light on the individual switch will light up and will go out when the switch is turned OFF.
- When any appliance attached to the powerboard is to be switched off, switch off the appliance, switch the individual switch OFF, and detach the plug of the appliance from the powerboard. Repeat this step for any other appliance.
- When the plugs of all appliances attached to the powerboard have been removed, switch OFF the wall switch and remove the plug of the Extension Socket from the wall socket.
How to clean
