IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

• This Solar Panel should only be operated by responsible adults. Children should be supervised at all times to ensure they do not play with the Solar Panel.
• Do NOT connect the Solar Panel directly to a battery. Always use a solar regulator.
• Ensure the solar regulator you choose has the correct input rating, and is compatible with the chemistry of the battery being charged (eg lithium, AGM etc).
• To reduce the risk of sparks, connect or disconnect the Solar Panel to the charge regulator before exposure to sunlight. The Solar Panel may generate voltage while unconnected.
• To get the best results out of your Solar Panel, ensure your battery is regularly maintained.
• Do not use mirrors or other devices to artificially concentrate sunlight on the Solar Panel.
• Partially shaded or partially obscured Solar Panels will have a reduced output and can potentially damage the Solar Panel over time.
• Your Solar Panel can be hung, laid flat, or positioned to face the sun using the provided kickstand.
• Do not try to disassemble the Solar Panel or remove any attached nameplates or components.
• Do not drop the Solar Panel or let objects fall on it.
• Do not place heavy objects on the Solar Panel.

CAUTION

When connecting the Solar Panel to batteries via the regulator:

• Avoid touching eyes while working near a battery. If battery acid contacts your skin or clothing, remove the clothing and wash the affected area of your skin immediately with soap and water. If battery acid gets in your eye, immediately flood the eye with running cold water for at least 10 minutes and seek medical assistance immediately.

WARNING – RISK OF EXPLOSIVE GASES

• Working around lead-acid batteries is dangerous. During normal operation batteries generate explosive gases. It is important that the battery is operated in a well-ventilated area and the Solar Panel is installed as per the instructions detailed in the manual.

WARNING! INCORRECTLY INSTALLING AND SECURING THE SOLAR PANEL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PRODUCT AND INJURY TO YOU

• It is very important to correctly secure your Solar Panel in the event of windy weather. The instructions provided in this manual are a guide and it is your responsibility to ensure the product is always securely attached to a mounting surface in accordance with all local and national safety standards. In addition, any mounting devices used must adhere to the manufacturer’s safety instructions and it may be required to exceed these, to comply with local and national standards. We recommend using a qualified installer.

OPTIMAL SOLAR POSITIONING GUIDE

Your KickAss Solar Panel will perform best with the panel face angled directly towards the sun. When this is not possible, we recommend angling the panel between 20° and 40° from the ground. This will ensure efficient power generation in all seasons.

In the southern hemisphere, the sun is in the Northern half of the sky, and you should face your Solar Panel NORTH. In the northern hemisphere, the sun is always in the SOUTHERN half of the sky, and you should face your Solar Panel SOUTH.
