electrical appliances:
-
Read all instructions before using the appliance.
The Appliance -
This appliance must be used only for the purpose it was expressly designed; any use NOT complying with the instructions contained in the manual is considered inappropriate and dangerous. The manufacturer is NOT responsible for possible damages caused by the inappropriate and/or unreasonable use.
-
The appliance is designed for heating water only. DO NOT put other liquids into the appliance. Different liquids have different boiling points, with volatile liquids having boiling points lower than 100C, the boiling point of water.
-
The installation/assembly of the appliance will be made by the indications of the manufacturer. A wrong procedure may cause damages to persons, animals, or objects, for which the manufacturer cannot be considered responsible.
-
Before use, check the integrity of the appliance and power cable. DO NOT operate the appliance if the appliance has been dropped. Check that the exterior of the appliance and the Inner Pot is not cracked, chipped, warped, melted, discolored, or otherwise damaged in one way or another. In case you are not sure, contact a qualified person. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer/service agent or a qualified technician to avoid a shock hazard.
-
Before powering the appliance make sure the rating (voltage and frequency) corresponding to the grid and the socket is suitable for the plug of the appliance, and that the wall socket is properly grounded. This appliance is fitted with an earth wire for extra safety.
-
Avoid the use of adapters and/or extension cables; if their use is necessary, use only materials in compliance with the current safety regulations and whose marked electrical rating should be at least as high as the electrical rating of the appliance. To prevent overloading and blown fuses, ensure that no other high-powered appliance is plugged into the same socket.
-
The appliance must NOT be switched on using external timers and/or other remote control appliances which are not specified in this manual.
-
Only use original components & accessories provided by the manufacturer. Any non-original component or accessory NOT recommended by the manufacturer may cause injuries to persons or damage to the appliance. DO NOT use Bases or Kettle Jugs belonging to other models from the same manufacturer or other manufacturers. Doing so will void the warranty and may cause serious injury.
-
The packing materials (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, etc.) must be kept out of the reach of children or disabled persons since they represent potential sources of danger.
Location -
This appliance is NOT suitable to be used or stored near heat sources (open flame, ovens, heaters, stoves, etc.) and/or in an explosive environment (in the presence of flammable substances such as gas, vapor, mist or dust, in atmospheric conditions when, after ignition, the combustion is spread in the air). Items containing these substances should never be placed in the appliance, and never be used to clean the appliance to avert the risk of fire or explosion.
-
The appliance should NOT be placed on a surface, or in the vicinity of, objects which can be damaged by heat, such as carpets, plastics, curtains or textiles. DO NOT use the appliance when placed in a closed cabinet. During operation, as heat is transferred away from the appliance, the surface that the appliance is placed upon as well as the surface immediately above or adjacent to it may become very hot. There should be at least 10 cm of free space from the back, left & right sides and at least 20 cm from the top of the appliance to allow adequate air circulation. Never put things on top of the Lid. DO NOT locate multiple portable socket outlets or power supplies at the bottom or rear of the appliance due to the involvement of water. If the appliance is operated on wooden furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to delicate finishes.
-
Avoid placing the power cable on abrasive or sharp surfaces or in positions where it can be damaged easily. Avoid placing heavy objects on the cable. The cable must NOT be placed under carpets, or covered with throw rugs, runners or similar. Arrange the cable away from high-traffic areas, and where it will NOT be tripped over. Switch the wall switch OFF and unplug the power cable from the wall socket when not in use and before filling, emptying and cleaning the appliance.
-
Press the Lid Button to lift the Lid. Fill the appliance with fresh tap water until the FULL mark. DO NOT fill water lower than the minimum volume or higher than the maximum volume as indicated by the lines drawn on the Kettle Jug before boiling. Press the Lid down.
-
Wipe the exterior of the Kettle Jug & Base using a soft, dry cloth if water has spilled onto the appliance.
Heating / Boiling Water -
Place the Base on a dry, horizontal, stable and heat-resistant surface. Place the Kettle Jug onto the Base securely. DO NOT place the appliance on a soft surface such as a mattress, pillow, cushion or sofa, as this could cause the appliance to tip over. Damage may also occur if the appliance is placed on an incline or decline.
-
Plug the power cable attached to the Base into the wall socket. Switch the wall socket ON. Press the ON/OFF Switch on the Handle down.
-
The boiling process commences. The Indicator Lights appear during heating or boiling. If the water level is below MIN, the Automatic Safety Cut-Off Function will be activated, which prevents heating. In this case, switch off the appliance and disconnect the power cable from the wall socket. Fill the Kettle Jug with more water until the water level exceeds the MIN line, but stays below the MAX line. Repeat points 3 – 5.
-
The appliance switches off automatically several seconds after water has started boiling. The BLUE Indicator Lights around the Heating Plate turn off.
-
The heating process can be terminated at any time by lifting the Kettle Jug away from the Base. However this is NOT recommended. You should:
Press the ON/OFF Switch on the Kettle Jug up, switch the wall switch OFF and unplug the power cable from the wall socket.
DO NOT add water when the water is dry-boiled as the Glass Jug may crack!

Re-boiling and Re-heating -
Once the water has boiled, the ON/OFF Switch comes up and the Indicator Lights go out. Pressing the ON/OFF Switch down will not restart the heating process if the temperature sensing controller determines that the temperature of the water is not cool enough to require heating. Wait a few minutes before restarting the appliance.
