ATTENTION: The assembly of this product can be complicated and requires a good technical understanding. If you are not sure of how to do this, have a specialty garage perform the mounting and service. SW-MOTECH accepts no liability for damages caused by improper installation.
This product is designed only for mounting on vehicles in their original
condition. We do not guarantee compatibility with accessories from other
manufacturers.
German safety regulations require that no metal edge with a radius of less
than 2.5 mm be exposed while driving a motorcycle. The side carriers should
not be used when luggage is not attached to them.
All screws, bolts and nuts, including all replacement hardware provided by SW-
MOTECH, should be tightened to the torque specified in the OEM maintenance
manual for your motorcycle. If no torque specifications are provided in the
OEM maintenance manual, the following torques may be used:
All screws, bolts and nuts should be checked regularly to ensure that all are
tightened to the proper torque. Medium strength liquid thread-locker (i.e.,
“Locktite “) should be used to secure all screws, bolts and nuts.
Maximum load: 10 kg (22 lbs) per side carrier 0nclusive case and adapter kit).
The manufacturer’s maximum load of the motorbike is still valid. Maximum speed
with mounted cases: 130 km/h (So mph).

Mounting
-
Open the passenger seat. Replace the original seat-bumpers with seat-bumpers (1).
- Loosen the splint sof the support-staff shown in the main picture. Loosen the support-staff of the upper anchorage. Support the passenger seat with a suitable object during the mounting process.
- Loosen the original screws of the bench and remove it from the vehicle (as shown in the detail drawing).

Remove the plastic caps and the original screws of the passenger grips. Then remove the passenger grips carefully.

Attach the mounting brackets (2) with the passenger grips to the vehicle. Secure the screws (3) with liquid thread locker. Do not fully tighten the screws (3).
NOTE : Keep the spacers (5) with some grease in position.
NOTE: If the SW-MOTECH ALU-RACK is mounted, the mounting brackets (2) and spacers (5) are not needed. -
Attach the mounting brackets (6) behind both passenger footrests as shown.
Secure the screws (7) and (10) with liquid thread locker. Do not fully tighten the screws (7) and (10). -
Attach both sides carriers (12) with the quick fasteners (13) to the mounting brackets (2) and (6).

Connect both side carriers (12) with the rear mounting arms to the cross girder (15). Use the quick fasteners (13) here as well.
- Use a suitable pencil to mark the mounting points of the cross girder (15). Then loosen the quick fasteners and remove the cross girder (15) from the vehicle.
- Use an 6.5 mm drill bit to drill the mounting holes of the cross girder (15). Deburr the edges of the mounting holes.

Attach the cross girder (15) to the license plate holder as shown. Do not fully tighten screws (16).

Use the quick fasteners (13) to attach both side carriers (12) to the mounting brackets (2) and (6) and cross girder (15). Secure the quick fasteners (13) with the retaining rings (14). If all components fits stressless and symmetrical tighten the screws (3), (7), (10) and (16) (in that order) in accordance with the specifications:
- Screw (3) (Step 3): 23 Nm.
- Screw (7) and (10) (Step 4): 18 Nm.
- Screws (16) (Ste 7): 9,6 Nm.

Mounting Instructions
SW-MOTECH products should be installed by a qualified, experienced motorcycle
technician. If you are unsure of your ability to properly install a product,
please have the product installed by your local motorcycle dealer. SW Motech
takes no responsibility for damages caused by improper installation.
All screws, bolts and nuts, including all replacement hardware provided by SW-
MOTECH, should be tightened to the torque specified in the OEM maintenance
manual for your motorcycle. If no torque specifications are provided in the
OEM maintenance manual, the following torques may be used: All screws, bolts
and nuts should be checked after driving the first 50 km to ensure that all
are tightened to the proper torque.
Medium strength liquid thread-locker (i.e., “Locktite”) should be used to
secure all screws, bolts and nuts.

SECURITY
Please pay attention to the following information concerning the TRAX
ADVENTURE ALU-BOX:
The TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX is designed exclusively for mounting on SW-MOTECH
QUICK-LOCK side carriers, QUICK-LOCK adapter plate an STEEL-RACK adapter kit.
Modifications made to the cases will void any warranty.
ATTENTION: Riding with TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX may affect the motorcycle’s
driving and braking performance.
ATTENTION: TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOXES M & L must be used in pairs. Make
sure the weight is evenly distributed between left and right side case.
DANGER: The maximum vehicle load defined by the vehicle manufacturer may
NOT be exceeded.
The maximum permissible load of the SW-MOTECH luggage rack/side carrier may
NOT be exceeded; make sure to take into account the dead weight of the
product.
ATTENTION : Maximum load: Please refer to the mounting instructions of
the SW-MOTECH luggage rack/side carrier. Maximum speed with mounted cases: 130
km/h (80 mph).
ATTENTION: Make sure that the TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX is properly attached to the particular adapter and fully engaged to all four mounting points! ALL latches of the TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX must be locked BEFORE riding with the TraX ® EVO / TRAX ADV lock cylinder set (sold separately) and remain closed while riding. Improperly mounted cases run the risk of detaching during transport.
CARE
To clean the TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX, use warm, soapy water and a soft, clean
cloth. Rinse with clean water. Do NOT use strong cleaning agents, rough
cleaning tools or high-pressure washer!

LID AND LOCK CYLINDER SET
Open the lid
(TRAX ADV M / L / topcase)
- Pull the latch of the lid upwards
- and remove it from the latch bar.
- Open the lid.
Insertion of the Trax® EVO / TRAX ADV lock cylinder set
(TRAX ADV M / L / Topcase)

Insert the lock cylinders into the latches .
-
Secure the lock cylinders with the clamping plates .
ATTENTION: Pay attention to the correct alignment of the clamping plates (as shown in the detail drawings). -
Insert the keys into the lock cylinders; open or close the lock cylinder as shown in the schematic drawing.
ATTENTION : Use for lubrication graphite powder ONLY! Sold se aratel .
LID LIMITER
Mounting the lid limiters [TRAX ADV M / L / top case)
-
Open the lid. Attach the snap-fit (4) with the shown parts at the lid frame.
Tighten the screws as specified in the parts list. -
Attach the lid limiters (5) with the shown parts at the case frame.
NOTE : Pay attention to left-right specifications for the limiters (in driving direction).
Tighten the screws as specified in the parts list.
Press the lid limiters onto the snap-fits. -
Before closing the lid for the first time, the lid limiters must be compressed as shown in the drawing.
While closing the lid, make sure that the lid limiters are not pinched between lid and case. -
To remove the lid from the case (as shown on page 51, remove the lid limiters from the snap-fits first.

QUICK RELEASE FASTENER
Removing the lid (TRAX ADVENTURE M / LI

Press the quick release fastener down until it clicks into place and the button pops out.

remove the lid from the case.
NOTE: If you have installed the lid limiters (5), they must be detached before removing the lid (as shown on page 4). -
Press the button of the quick release fastener to lock the replaced lid in place. Make sure that the quick release fastener snaps above.
Maintenance and cleaning of the quick release fastener

- Loosen the six screws on the inner side of the case and remove the quick release fastener.
- Loosen the screw of the button (fix with thumb and index finger].
- Loosen the shown clip carefully and .. .
- remove the quick release fastener and springs from the mounting plate.
- Clean the components with clean water and let it air dry. Reattach all arts in reversed order.
MOUNTING
Attachement of TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX M & L

Lead the four openings of the mounting rails onto the locating bolts of the mounted QUICK-LOCK adapter kit.
Then press the TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX slightly downward, until it properly rests on QUICK-LOCK side carrier.
ATTENTION: Make sure that all four locating bolts rests on at the same time. -
Place the latch over the latch hook and …

close the latch; check the proper fit of the TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX on the QUICK-LOCK side carrier.
ATTENTION: Make sure the closed latch is under sufficient tension! If not the latch hook must be readjusted!
ATTENTION: Secure the TRAX ADVENTURE ALU-BOX with the separately available Trax® EVO / TRAX ADVENTURE lock cylinder set at the QUICK-LOCK side carrier before riding!

All screws, bolts and nuts, including all replacement hardware provided by SW- MOTECH, should be tightened to the torque specified in the OEM maintenance manual for your motorcycle. If no torque specifications are provided in the OEM maintenance manual, the following torques may be used:
All screws, bolts and nuts should be checked after driving the first 50 km to

- Max. Load On Rear Carrier: 7.5 Kg (16.5 lbs) inclusive case and adapter or the motorcycle manufacturer’s weight limit, whichever is less.

Open the passenger seat. Replace the original seat-bumpers with seat-bumpers (1).
- Loosen the splint sof the support staff shown in the main picture. Loosen the support staff of the upper anchorage. Support the passenger seat with a suitable object during the mounting process.
- Loosen the original screws of the bench and remove it from the vehicle (as shown in the detailed drawing).

Remove the plastic caps and the original screws of the passenger grips. Then remove the passenger grips carefully.
ATTENTION : Before mounting the sidebars (2) it is necessary to create small cutouts into the tail panels, as shown in the detail drawing. -
Insert the plastic caps (3) into the four end openings of the side bars (2) (as shown in the detail drawing).
Attach the side bars (2) with the passenger grips to the vehicle. Secure the screws (s) with liquid thread locker. Do not fully tighten the screws (5).
NOTE: Keep the washers (7) with some grease in position.
NOTE: The (!)-symbol indicates the fixing point for the SW-MOTECH QUICK- LOCK Side Carrier. -
Attach the ALU-RACK (8) to the side bars (2) as shown. Secure the screws (9) with liquid thread locker. Then tighten screws (9). Pay attention to the specified torque: 20 Nm.
Then tighten screws (s) with the specified torque of 23 Nm.
Attention : Cam-locks from adapter kit have to be installed before attaching the ALU-RACK to the vehicle.

GENERAL INFORMATION Observe any country-specific regulations by law or TÜV regulations. If required, enter the installed parts into the vehicle documents with the appropriate inspection authority. PREPARATION: Read the mounting instructions carefully and make sure that all parts are included. Make sure that your vehicle is parked safely and cannot fall over. Turn off the engine and remove the ignition key. Let the motor/exhaust cool off if necessary. Disconnect the vehicle battery when working on the electrical system. Make sure to use only the appropriate tools. During installation have another person to help you.
MOUNTING: All parts and connections removed from the vehicle must be reinstalled in accordance with the vehicle manufacturer’s specifications or replaced by the SW-MOTECH and BAGS-CONNECTION delivered parts and hardware. Secure all threads, unless otherwise specified, with medium strong strength liquid thread locker. If not otherwise defined by the vehicle manufacturer or SW-MOTECH and BAGS-CONNECTION, bolts and nuts must be tightened according to DIN/ISO specifications. After installation is complete, be sure that all parts and hardware previously removed are properly replaced.
FUNCTION CHECK: After installation make sure all moving parts are unobstructed and the normal function of the vehicle is not hindered in any way. Cables and hoses may not rub and/or be pinched. Before starting to ride, perform a comprehensive check of all functions. Regularly check every 100 km for the proper seating of all parts and connections removed during installation.

SECURITY
Please pay attention to the following product information:

ATTENTION : Riding with the TRAX expansion bag may affect the motorcycle’s driving and braking performance.
ATTENTION: Maximum load: Please refer the manual instructions of the SW- MOTECH side sarriers and the TRAX aluminium case, but not more then 2 kg. The maximum vehicle load specified by the manufacturer must not be exceeded!
Maximum speed with mounted TRAX expansion bag: 130 km/h!
ATTENTION: BEFORE riding make sure that the TRAX expansion bag is
properly attached. Check the proper fit at each stop!
ATTENTION: All parts of the TRAX expansion bag must not contact any hot or
moving parts of the vehicle. All parts should also remain 5 cm away from the
exhaust and remain clear of the exhaust stream. All strap ends should be
secured so they can not blow around once the vehicle is in motion. Dropping
the motorcycle or improper handling can damage the outer surface of the TRAX
expansion bag.
Never store pointy or sharp-edged objects in bags, which could cause injury to
persons or damage to the vehicle/product.
CARE
To clean the TRAX expasion bag use warm, soapy water and a soft, clean cloth.
Rinse with clean water. Do NOT use strong cleaning agents, rough cleaning
tools or high pressure washer! Clean the TRAX expansion bag after riding in
salty conditions, to avoid damage from salt.
ATTENTION: Surface materials can experience color changes or fading when exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods of time and by environmental factors (e.g., SMOG, acid rain, etc.)! SW-MOTECH assumes no liability for this.
ATTENTION: Dirt on the product and vehicle has an abrasive effect and can damage surfaces. Make sure that all areas of the case, which have contact with the product, are protected with an adhesive protection film from scratches and abrasions. SW-MOTECH assumes no liability for paint damage and abrasions.
FIXATION
- Place the TRAX expansion bag on the lid of the TRAX aluminium box or a similar aluminum case.
- Fix all four straps of the TRAX expansion bag to the tie-down points of the lid, as shown in the lower detail drawings.
- Now tighten the straps until the TRAX expansion bag is centered and sits firmly on the lid.
- Make sure that the strap ends are secured against fluttering.
