REZNOR VZ Gas-Fired Low-Intensity Radiant Tube Heaters
GENERAL INFORMATION
DANGER
These kits are to be installed by a qualified service agency by these
instructions and compliance with all codes and requirements of authorities
having jurisdiction. Improper installation, adjustment, alteration, service,
and maintenance can cause property damage, injury, or death. The qualified
agency performing this work assumes responsibility for this installation.
NOTE: For heater suspension, turnbuckles with a hanger kit are
recommended for convenience when leveling the system. Refer to these
instructions along with the installation manual provided with the heater for
complete heater suspension instructions. Refer to the installation manual
provided with the unit for important safety information.
KIT COMPONENTS
When installing the hanger kit and/or turnbuckle kit, ensure that all
components listed in Table 1 are available before beginning installation.
NOTE: Hanger kits include eleven (11) S-hooks and 50 feet of chain.
Turnbuckle kits include two (2) turnbuckles and two (2) hex nuts. Refer to
Table 2 for the minimum number of kits needed (may vary depending on the
length of the suspension hardware).
DO NOT DESTROY. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. KEEP IN A SAFE PLACE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
INSTALLATION
DANGER
The installer is responsible for installing the field-supplied structure
suspension point hardware and for adequately supporting the weight of the
heater.
WARNING
The heaters are designed so that the tube suspension points can be adjusted
slightly to adapt to the structure. Each straight tube must have at least one
suspension point. Straight tubes downstream and adjacent to an L-tube or
U-tube require two suspension points.
CAUTION
A minimum of 12 inches (305 mm)—the total length of chain, S-hook, and/or
turnbuckle—is required between the tubes and the structure suspension points.
- Suspend the heater by the installation manual provided with the heater using S-hooks, chains, and turnbuckles (as necessary) at all suspension points.
- To install turnbuckles:
- Remove the right-hand thread eyebolt from the turnbuckle (see Figure 1) and install a hex nut on the eyebolt with the nut’s teeth away from the eye.
CAUTION
DO NOT tighten (lock) the hex nuts against the turnbuckles until the system is
leveled. Locking the hex nuts against the turnbuckles is required to prevent
the turnbuckles from turning when the system expands.
- Thread eyebolt back into turnbuckle. DO NOT tighten (lock) the hex nut against the turnbuckle at this point.
- Level the heater and THEN tighten (lock) the hex nut against each turnbuckle.
