- WARNING – When using electric products, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following. This manual contains important safety and operating instructions for battery charger models P/N’s 022-3016 and 022-3017 that shall be followed during installation, operation, and maintenance of the unit.
- Read all instructions before using this product.
- This device should be supervised when used around children.
- Do not put fingers into the electric vehicle connector.
- Do not use this product if the flexible power cord or EV cable is frayed, has broken insulation, or any other signs of damage.
- Do not use this product if the enclosure or the EV connector is broken, cracked, open, or shows any other indication of damage.
- Pay attention to the operational steps, electrical practices or incorrect execution may lead to danger, personnel injury, fire or electrical shock. This may also cause equipment damage. The operation can only be carried out when the contents of the instruction manual of the charging station are fully understood and the specified conditions are met.
- This EV charging station must be grounded.
- Do not operate under any circumstances that may cause electric leakage.
- Any changes or modifications to this unit will not only void the warranty, but may cause personnel injury, fire or electrical shock.
- Do not install or use the charging station close to any explosive media, or surrounding media that contain harmful gases or corrosive media that may corrode metal and damage insulation. The area must be dry and well ventilated.
- When installing and connecting the charging station the relevant local regulations must be followed.
- This equipment complies with FCC radiation exposure limits.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This product must be grounded. If the charging station should malfunction
grounding provides the path of least resistance for electric current to reduce
the risk of electric shock. This charging station is equipped with a cord
having an equipment grounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be
plugged into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in
accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING:
Improper connection of the equipment grounding conductor could result in
electric shock and injury. Check with a qualified electrician if you are in
doubt about whether the charging station is properly grounded. Do not modify
the plug provided with the charging station if it does fit the outlet.
Contact a qualified electrician and have the correct outlet installed. For
power safety have an overcurrent protector or circuit breaker at the outlet.

LCD SCREEN FUNCTIONS
NOTE:
All settings and changes must be completed before the GUN is inserted into the
vehicle.Once the GUN is inserted both the “CHARGE RATE” and “DELAY CHARGE”
buttons are locked.Once you have
completed all your settings plug the charging station into the vehicle.
LCD SCREEN ERRORS
- Error High Input Voltage: This indicates the charger input voltage is higher than the limit. Have an electrician check the supply voltage.
- Error Low Input Voltage:This indicates the charger input voltage is lower than the limit. Have an electrician check the supply voltage.
- Error Over Temperature:Stop charging for at least 30 minutes, then start charging again.
- Error Control Pilot Fault Please restart the Charging Station.
- Error Over CurrentPlease make sure the vehicles charging current is within the rated range.
- Error Ground FaulCheck the ground on the wall socket
Charger Protection

turned off. The power needs to be disconnected then restored.
4| Over Temperature Protection| When the temperature on the main board reaches
185°F, the power will be reduced to 50%. Once it reaches 194°F the power will
turn off completely
5| Ground Protection| The ground wire is not detected, or the ground wire has
become disconnected during the charge cycle. The relay is now disconnected
6| Leakage Protection| CCID – (Charge Circuit Interrupting Device). A safety
device that will disable utility power to the charger in the event that a loss
of isolation is detected. The relay is now disconnected

The Charging Station and gun can be mounted to a wall using the supplied mounting brackets:

WARNING:
The Charging Station must be installed in a well-ventilated dry space away
from any flammable substances, gas, or oil lines.
Always coil up the gun cable after use to prevent damage occurring to the
cable or the gun.
Troubleshooting Guide

Charging Station will not power up:
a. Check the AC outlet and all cables to ensure they are not damaged in any way and there is power to the AC outlet.
b. If you can not resolve the issue, please contact customer service. -
Unable to start Charging:
a. Check the Charging Station Gun and cable to ensure it is not damaged in any way.
b. Check the vehicles connector.
c. Check the vehicles manual to ensure the vehicle to ready to accept a charge.
d. The Charging Station timer is still in delay mode.
e. If you can not resolve the issue, please contact customer service. -
Incomplete Charge:
a. Hot temperatures may have caused the Charging Station to reduce the charging current or shut down the Charging Station.
b. A high input voltage or low input voltage may have shut down the Charging Station.
c. A ground fault may have shut down the Charging Station.
d. If you can not resolve the issue, please contact customer service. -
The “DELAY CHARGE” or “CHARGE RATE” button is not responding:
a. The buttons will not operate once the Charging Station gun has been plugged into the vehicle.
b. Remove gun from vehicle.
c. If you can not resolve the issue, please contact customer service. -
The LCD screen is showing “Unplugged”:
a. Avoid fast and frequent connections to the vehicle.
b. There may be an issue with the vehicle, contact your vehicles service department.
c. If you can not resolve the issue, please contact customer service.
WARRANTY
The Battery Tender® Charging Station comes with a thirty-six (36) month
limited warranty against defects or failure (within two (3) years of
purchase).
THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS VOID under the following conditions:
- The product is misused, subjected to careless handling, or operated under conditions of extreme temperature, shock, or vibration beyond our recommendations for safe and effective use.
- The product is disassembled or repaired by anyone who is not an authorized service representative of Battery Tender®
- The product was purchased from an unauthorized source. The warranty is not transferable from the original purchaser.
- Any physical damage to any of components or any accessory after purchase.
- Any modifications to any of the components.
- Any corrosion including salt water.
