MEASUREMENTS

Width (approx) 38 cm
Length (approx, excluding handles) 33 cm

MATERIALS

Cake Yarn 100g x 2 balls

HOOKS AND EXTRAS

A 4.50mm Crochet Hook, or size that gives correct tension.
A yarn needle.

TENSION

4 rows of 8 tr = 5 cm, using 4.50mm hook.

SPECIAL ABBREVIATION (UK terms are used)

Shell - 4 tr made into same stitch.

NOTE
This bag is worked in joined rounds.

At the end of each round, join the last stitch of the round to the first stitch with a slip stitch.
Begin the first stitch of each round in the same stitch as the chain 1 or chain 2.
Chain stitches do not count towards the stitch count of each round.

BAG

Using 4.50mm hook, into a magic circle, Round 1 – ch 2, 12 tr into the circle. Join to first tr with a sl st, ch 2 = 12.
Round 2 – 2 tr in each stitch around, join, ch 2 = 24.
Round 3 – 2 tr in first st, tr in next st, rep around, join, ch 2 = 36.
Round 4 – 2 tr in first st, tr in next 2 sts, rep around, join ch 2 = 48.
Round 5 – 2 tr in first st, tr in next 3 sts, rep around, join ch 2 = 60.
Round 6 – 2 tr in first st, tr in next 4 sts, rep around, join ch 2 = 72.
Round 7 – 2 tr in first st, tr in next 5 sts, rep around, join ch 2 = 84.
Round 8 – 2 tr in first st, tr in next 6 sts, rep around, join ch 2 = 96.
Round 9 – 2 tr in first st, tr in next 7 sts, rep around, join ch 2 = 108.
This completes the base of the bag.
Rounds 10 and 11 – Tr in each stitch around, join, ch 2 = 108.
Round 12 – 4 tr (shell) in first st, skip 3 sts, rep around, join to first tr (do not ch 2) = 108 tr/27 shells.
Round 13 – Sl st in next 3 sts, ch 2. Make 4 tr sts (shell) in the spaces between the shells from the previous round, cont around, join to the first tr (do not ch 2) = 108 tr/27 shells.
Round 14 – As Round 13.
Round 15 – As Round 13.
Rounds 16 and 17 – Tr in each st around, join, ch 2 = 108.
Round 18 – 4 tr (shell) in first st, skip 3 sts, rep around, join to first tr (do not ch 2) = 108 tr/27 shells.
Round 19 – Sl st in next 3 sts, ch2. Make 4 tr sts (shell) in the spaces between the shells from the previous round, cont around, join to the first tr (do not ch 2) = 108 tr/27 shells.
Round 20 – As Round 19.
Round 21 – As Round 19.
Rounds 22 and 23 – Tr in each st around, join, ch 2 = 108.
Round 24 – 4 tr (shell) in first st, skip 3 sts, rep around, join to first tr (do not ch 2) = 108 tr/27 shells.
Round 25 – Sl st in next 3 sts, ch2. Make 4 tr sts (shell) in the spaces between the shells from the previous round, cont around, join to the first tr (do not ch 2) = 108 tr/27 shells.
Round 26 – As Round 25.
Round 27 – As Round 25.
Rounds 28, 29, 30 and 31 – Dc in each st around, join ch 1 = 108.
Beg Handles – Round 32 – Dc in first 12, ch 70, skip 30 sts, dc in next 24, ch 70, skip 30 sts, dc in last 12, join, ch 1.
Round 33 – Dc in each st around and in each of ch sts (to form handles), join, ch 1.
Rounds 34, 35, 36 – Dc in each st around, join, ch 1.
Round 37 – Dc in each st around, join. Fasten off.
