Safety instructions

Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information on proper handling, we assume no liability for any resulting personal injury or 5.1 General

  • damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
The product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

  • Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous playing material for children.

  • If you have questions which remain unanswered by this information product, contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.

  •  Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only be completed by a technician or an authorised repair centre.

5.2 Handling

  •  Handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage the product.

5.3 Operating environment

  •  Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
  •  Protect the appliance from extreme temperatures, strong jolts, flammable gases, steam and solvents.
  •  Protect the product from high humidity and moisture.
  •  Protect the product from direct sunlight.

5.4 Operation

  •  Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the product.
  •  If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it from any accidental use. DO NOT attempt to repair the product yourself. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
    – is visibly damaged,
    – is no longer working properly,
    – has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
    – has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.

5.5 Connected devices

  • Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected to the product.

5.6 Product

  •  The product is equipped with an enhanced protection against accidental contact. An integrated mechanism will release the holes of the receptacle only, if the two prongs of a power plug are inserted into the two holes at once.
  • Take special caution when children are around. Children cannot recognize the danger arising from the incorrect use of electrical devices. There is a risk of a life-threatening electric shock!
  • De-energised only when unplugged.
  • Do not cover the product when operating it. The product can overheat and cause fire.

5.7 230 V/AC square wave outputs

Risk of damage to connected products and/or other hazards!

  • This inverter produces an alternating current (AC) with a square wave waveform. A square wave waveform is not the same as the pure sine wave AC typically supplied in residential and commercial electrical systems.
  • Always ensure compatibility of your devices with square wave AC outputs before connection and operation.

Operation

DANGER
Risk of serious injury or death from carbon monoxide.
Never operate the product while a combustion vehicle engine is running in an enclosed area (e.g., garage), or near other enclosed areas.

Important:

The following information applies to combustion engines:

  • It is recommended to use the inverter when the engine is running. This is so that the alternator can recharge the vehicle battery.
  • Do not to discharge the vehicle battery faster than the alternator can recharge it. Monitor the battery voltage and run the engine if needed.
  • When operating several loads from the inverter, switch them on separately after the inverter is switched on.

Preconditions:

(If applicable) connected loads are switched OFF.

  1. Connect the product to the auxiliary power socket.
    →Status indicator lights up red.

  2. Switch the power ON.
    → Status indicator lights green.

  3. Connect any loads and switch them on one by one.

LCD status information

Outputs Voltage (V) Current (A) Description
3x USB yes yes ■If 2 or 3 USB outputs are connected, the total voltage (V)

and current (A) will show.
■ The display will show (00.0) for unused out puts
2x 230 V/
AC| yes| no| ■ The voltage will show after the ON/OFF button switches the power ON.
■ The current (A) is not shown for 230 V/AC connections.

Notes:

  • Wait a few moments after connection / disconnection for the LCD status to update.
  • The display will cycle through outputs: USB voltage (V) → USB current (A) → high output 230 voltage (V).

Protection mechanisms

Protection Description
Overload protec- tion Triggers if connected loads are greater than rated

output.
1.   Remove any excess loads.
2.   Reset (disconnect then reconnect) the inverter to resume use.
High voltage protection| Triggers if the input voltage is greater than 16.0 V ±0.3 V.
1.   Make sure the vehicle supply voltage is 12 V.
2.   Reach a professional for help, if needed.
Low voltage pro- tection| If the input is <12.0 V ±0.5 V, the inverter shuts OFF to protect the car battery from over discharge.
1.   Disconnect the inverter and increase the vehicle battery voltage (e.g., restart the motor so the alternator can recharge the battery).
2.   Reconnect the inverter when the vehicle battery reaches 12 V.
Over temperat- ure protection| If the inverter temperature is > 80°C ±5 °C, the inverter will switch OFF.
1.   Disconnect the product, allow the converter to cool down and then reconnect it.
2.   Do not place the inverter in areas of high sunlight or next to a heater.

Cleaning and care

Important:

  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions.
They damage the housing and can cause the product to malfunction.

  •  Do not immerse the product in water.

  1. Disconnect the product from the power supply.
  2. Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.

Disposal

This symbol must appear on any electrical and electronic equipment placed on the EU market. This symbol indicates that this device should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste at the end of its service life.
Owners of WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment) shall dispose of it separately from unsorted municipal waste. Spent batteries and accumulators, which are not enclosed by the WEEE, as well as lamps that can be removed from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner, must be removed by end users from the WEEE in a non-destructive manner before it is handed over to a collection point.

Distributors of electrical and electronic equipment are legally obliged to provide free takeback of waste. Conrad provides the following return options free of charge (more details on our website):

  • in our Conrad offices
  • at the Conrad collection points
  • at the collection points of public waste management authorities or the collection points set up by manufacturers or distributors within the meaning of the ElektroG

End users are responsible for deleting personal data from the WEEE to be disposed of.
It should be noted that different obligations about the return or recycling of WEEE may apply in countries outside of Germany.
