To make sure you can enjoy using this appliance for a long time, please carefully read through and observe the following notes. Keep this instruction manual safely. Hand out all documents to third persons when passing on the appliance. Thank you very much
Intended use
The appliance is designed for cutting, blending, mixing and whipping of food in small quantities for domestic use only (in the kitchen, at table, in the office, etc.). Other uses or modifications of the appliance are not intended and may constitute considerable risks of accident. For damage arising from improper use, the manufacturer does not assume liability. The appliance is not designed for commercial use.
Technical data
Only connect the appliance to an isolated ground receptacle installed according to regulations. The mains voltage must comply with the details on the rating label. Only connect to alternating current.

Scope of supply
Check the scope of supply for completeness as well as for perfect condition of the appliance and all accessory parts (see product description page 2) immediately after unpacking.
Packing material
Do not simply throw the packing material away but recycle it. Deliver paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard packing to collecting facilities. Also put plastic packing material and foils into the intended collecting containers. In the examples for the plastic marking:
PE stands for polyethylene, the code figure 02 for PE-HD, 04 for PE-LD, PP for polypropylene, PS for polystyrene.
Disposal/recycling
According to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, this product must not be disposed of with your normal domestic waste at the end of its lifespan. Therefore, please deliver it at no charge to your appropriately licensed local collecting facilities (e. g. recycling yard) concerned with the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. Please approach your local authorities for how to dispose of the product.

Improper use of the appliance or disregard of the safety advices and instructions may cause electric shock, fire and/or bad injuries!
General safety advices

  • hildren must not be permitted to operate the appliance. Always keep children away from the appliance and the power cord.
  • The appliance may be used by persons having handicaps of physical, sensorial or mental nature, or lacking knowledge and/or experience in operating the appliance, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning a safe operation of the appliance and fully understand all dangers which may result thereof as well as all safety precautions involved.
  • Never leave the appliance unattended during operation or while connected.
  • Children must not play with the appliance.
  • Cleaning and user maintenance must not be executed by children.
  • Packing material like e. g. foil bags should be kept away from children.
  • Prior to each use, check the appliance and the accessory parts for perfect condition. It must not be operated if it has been dropped or shows visible damage. In these cases, disconnect the power supply and have the appliance checked by a specialist.
  • When laying the power cord, make sure that nobody can get entangled or stumble over it, in order to avoid that the appliance is pulled down accidentally.
  • Keep the power cord away from hot surfaces, sharp edges and mechanical stress. Check the power cord regularly for damage and wear. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of an electric shock.
  • For disconnecting the appliance from the power socket, only pull the plug and never the cord!
  • This electrical appliance complies with the relevant safety standards. If the appliance or the power cord show signs of damage, immediately unplug the appliance. Repairs may only be carried out by authorised specialist shops. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user.
  • Improper use and disregard of this instruction manual will void all warranty claims.

Safety advices for using the appliance
Caution: Hazard of injury!

  • Before replacing accessories or accessories parts that are moving during operation, the device must be switched off and disconnected from the power socket!
  • When disassembling, assembling or cleaning do not reach into the sharp blades of the 4-bladed special cutter! Only touch the blades at the top of the shaft!
  • Handle the special cutter with care to avoid injuries!
  • The appliance has a delayed motor stop after it has been switched off. Therefore only remove motor unit and working cover after complete standstill!
  • The appliance is not suitable for processing deep-frozen or too hard foods.
  •  Do not operate the appliance outdoors or near sources of heat (oven, gas flame etc.) or in explosive environments, where inflammable liquids or gases are located.
  • Place the base unit and the special cutter beyond children’s reach.
  • Always unplug the appliance from the power socket if it is not supervised and prior to assembly, disassembly, cleaning or non-use.
  • During operation, do not stir in glass bowl with objects and never reach into the running special cutter. To avoid injuries it is imperative to keep away your hair, hands and clothes from the running appliance.
  • Avoid any no-load operation. Do not handle the appliance with wet hands!
  • Never immerse the appliance, the power cord and the plug into water for cleaning.
  • Do not store the appliance outside or in wet rooms.
  • Use original accessory parts only.
  • Pull the power plug after each use for safe switch-off.

Prior to initial use
For a start, please clean the appliance as well as all accessory parts. For more detailed information please refer to chapter “Cleaning and maintenance”.
Integrated safety system
The appliance is equipped with a safety system. A micro switch ensures that the appliance does only function, if the motor unit is correctly placed on the working cover. Additionally, a spring mechanism on the motor coupling protects against improper operation. This and the observance of this instruction manual, ensure a safe operation.
Possibilities of application
The special cutter is suitable

  • for cutting ingredients such as herbs, onions, cheese, meat, fruits, berries, nuts (without nutshell), potatoes, vegetables, raw food, etc.

  • for making dips and pesto
    The special cutter is not suitable

  • for crushing very hard foods such as coffee beans, nutmeg, cereals, fruits with stones, dried fruits, etc.

  • for crushing ice cubes or frozen foods.

Operating the appliance

1.) How to disassemble the appliance/special cutter
CAUTION:
Pay attention that the power plug is disconnected from the socket!

Take off the motor
unit from the glass bowl.| Remove the working cover from

In doing so, hold the cutting unit at
the shaft and carefully lift it out of the glass bowl.| For disassembly of the special cutter, place it on a worktop.
Hold the blade with your thumb.| Turn the upper pair of blades
clockwise up to the stop. Then remove the upper pair of blades.

2.) How to assemble the appliance/special cutter

For assembly of the special cutter, place the shaft of the cutter on a worktop. Hold the
cutting unit with your thumb.| Put the second pair of blades on the shaft in the right way round and turn it counter-clockwise
up to the stop.| Carefully insert the special cutter. In
doing so, hold the blade at the shaft
and place it on the blade holder inside the glass bowl.| Place the working cover on the glass bowl. Mind the correct position of the cover.
Note: Check both sealings in the
working cover before placing it on
the glass bowl.| Then put the motor unit on the working cover. Mind the
correct position of the motor unit.
Note: The motor unit can be put
on in different positions.

How to fill the glass bowl
CAUTION:
Before removing the motor unit, make sure the power plug is disconnected from the socket!
Do not accidently hold down the switch-ON button!

  • Remove the motor unit and the working cover.
  • Insert the special cutter. For bigger quantities we recommend to use all 4 cutting blades. For small quantities you can disassemble the blade and work with only 2 cutting blades.
  • Fill the glass bowl with food. Pay attention to the maximum filling quantity (MZ 400: 1.0 l – MZ 500: 1.5 l).
  • Then put on the working cover and the motor unit. Make sure that the appliance has been correctly and properly assembled and that the glass bowl is standing on the anti-slip mat.

How to start/stop the appliance

  • Pay attention to a safe position of the working cover and only operate the appliance if the working cover is tightly closed!

  • Before connecting the power plug to a socket, make sure that you do not accidently hold down the ON button!

  • To start the appliance, press the ON button and hold it down for operation. When releasing the ON button, the appliance stops.

  • Depending on the material to be crushed, you can chose between permanent operation (hold the ON button permanently down) and interval operation (press the ON button for 2 – 3 seconds, then 2 – 3 seconds pause, repeat several times).
    Caution: Do not let the motor run for more than 20 seconds without interruption!

  • Release the ON button for switching off the appliance. Upon completion of the crashing process and before taking off the motor unit, always disconnect the power plug from the socket!

How to empty the glass bowl
CAUTION:

Before removing the motor unit, pay attention that the power plug is disconnected from the socket!
Do not accidently hold down the switch-ON button!

  • Remove the motor unit and the working cover (see point “How to disassemble the appliance”).

  • Carefully remove special cutter and foods from the glass bowl.
    How to switch off the appliance permanently

  • For a safe switch off, pull the power plug after every use!

Cleaning and maintenance
Attention:
Hazard of injury!

  • Always unplug the appliance before cleaning!
  • Never immerse the base unit, power cord and the mains plug in water or clean them under running water!
  • When disassembling, assembling or cleaning, do not reach into the sharp blades of the 4-blade special cutter with your hands! Hold the cutter at the top of the shaft only!
  • Handle the special cutter with care to avoid injuries!

Note: All detachable accessory parts may also be cleaned in the dishwasher at low temperature and in the upper dish rack. However, we recommend to clean the special cutter by hand as the blades may become blunt in the dishwasher after a while.
Tip: For food rich in natural dyes (e. g. carrots), seals and plastic parts of the accessory may change colour. Wipe these parts down with a few drops of cooking oil before cleaning them.

  • Clean the appliance immediately after use so that residues do not dry on.
  • Remove all detachable parts from the motor unit.
  • Clean the outside of the motor unit with a damp tissue and wipe it dry.
  • Clean all accessory parts using hot water with some mild detergent. For cleaning of the special cutter, use a conventional household cleaning brush.
  • Prior to the next use, all accessory parts have to be completely dry.
  • Do not use any abrasives or solvents!
  • Never use a steam jet appliance for cleaning!

IMPORTANT: For storage and protection against injuries, we recommend placing both protective blade covers over the special cutter.
Tips for working with the appliance

  • Remove stems, stones and resp. peels from the foods. Before processing the foods, cut them into adequately sized (not too big) pieces.
  • Operate the appliance in the pulse-rhythm, i. e. blend/cut for some seconds – then short pause. Repeat this cycle for several times.
  • If the motor shows signs of overload, reduce the ingredients to be crushed.
  • The best results are achieved when processing smaller quantities.
  • For very smelly foods like e. g. cinnamon sticks, the smell/taste of the food may be transferred to the working cover. This is normal and does not constitute a reason for complaint.
  • For spices with intensive essential oils (e. g. cumin, cloves, etc.), the inside of the working container may get a dull surface. This is normal and does not constitute a reason for complaint.
  • The values in the table below are indicative and essentially dependent on the freshness, quality and quantity of the food to be processed and on your personal taste.
