Product Usage Instructions

To ensure safe operation, read and understand the following safety precautions:

  • Fill the well with ice and allow the unit to cool for about an hour before use.
  • Place properly chilled food containers in the unit.
  • Regularly monitor food temperature for safety.

Avoid moving the equipment by pushing or pulling on the breath guard to prevent damage.

Warning: Do not spray water or cleaning products to prevent electrical shock. Clean the equipment daily using non-caustic cleaning chemicals, avoiding steel wool.

Caution is used to indicate the presence of a hazard that will or can cause minor or major personal injury if the caution is ignored.
NOTICE: Notice is used to note information that is important but not hazard-related.

To reduce risk of injury or damage to the equipment

  • Plug only into grounded electrical outlets that match the voltage rating on the nameplate.
  • Do not use an extension cord with this equipment. Do not plug this equipment into a power strip or multi-outlet power cord.
  • Equipment should only be used in a flat, level position.
  • Unplug equipment before cleaning or moving.
  • Unplug when not in use.
  • Keep equipment and power cord away from open flames, electric burners or excessive heat.
  • Do not operate unattended.
  • Closely supervise equipment operating in public areas and/or around children.
  • Do not use food pans deeper than 6” (15.2 cm).
  • Do not operate if equipment has been damaged or is malfunctioning.

FUNCTION AND PURPOSE

This equipment is intended to keep chilled food at proper serving temperatures in commercial food service operations. Cold food stations are not intended or designed to cool or chill food. Food must be prepared and placed in food stations at proper serving temperatures.

Equipment is not intended for household, industrial or laboratory use.

POSITIONING AND CLEARANCE
NOTICE: Do not move the equipment by pushing or pulling on the breath guard.

  • This equipment is to be used on a flat, level surface.

OPERATION
NOTICE: Do not use food pans deeper than 6″ (15.2 cm).

  1. Place ice into the well. For best performance allow unit to cool for approximately 1 hour before using.

  2. Place containers of properly chilled food into the pre-chilled unit.

  3. Regularly check the food temperature.
    NOTICE: Monitor food temperature closely for food safety. The United States Public Health Service recommends that food be held at a maximum of 41 ºF (5 ºC) to help prevent bacteria growth.

  4.  When finished using the unit remove food from the cold well.

CLEANING

Electrical Shock Hazard

Do not spray water or cleaning products. Liquid could contact the electrical components and cause a short circuit or an electrical shock.

To maintain the appearance and increase the service life, clean your equipment daily.
NOTICE: Do not use caustic cleaning chemicals, steel wool or commercial lime removal products to clean the equipment.
Thoroughly rinse equipment with water after cleaning.

  1. Turn the power switch to the OFF position.
  2. Unplug the equipment.
  3. Rotate the drain valve(s) to the open position. Drain the water.
  4. Use a damp cloth or sponge dipped in soapy water to clean the inside of the well and the outside of the equipment.
  5. Thoroughly rinse equipment with clean water after cleaning.
  6. Rotate the valve to the closed position.

Clean The Breath Guard
Always use a clean soft lint-free cloth or microfiber cloth.
Clean with a neutral cleaner such as a solution of warm water and a small amount of dish detergent or products specifically made for cleaning Plexiglas® and acrylic plastic.
Recommended cleaners for Plexiglas® and acrylic include:

  • Novus® #1
  • Plexi-Clear
  • Brillianize®

What Not To Do

  • Do not use cleaners containing ammonia, alcohol, acetone or dry cleaning products. Cleaners with these chemicals will damage Plexiglas®, acrylic and other plastics.
  • Do not use paper towels, abrasive materials, scratching cleansers, razor blades, brushes, steel wool or scouring pads, such as Scotch Brite™ pads.
  • Do not use WD-40® or petroleum, industrial or commercial cleaning products.

Removing Minor Scratches
Fine scratches can be removed with a specialized mild abrasive polish such as Novus #2, or Novus #3. Heavier scratches may require sanding and buffing. Hand sand with series of sandpapers with increasingly finer grits (250,400,600). Then use a buffing wheel and buffing compound.
