Charging Mode Explanation

NC101 PRO battery charger has Five(5) modes:STD, AGM/GEL, MOTORCYCLE, TKL,REPAIR. Pressed the “ ” button to switch the charging mode.

These modes are advanced charging modes that require your full attention before selecting. It is important to understand the differences and purposes of each mode.
Always check with the battery manufacturer to confirm the right charging mode for your specific battery. Do not operate the charger until you confirm the appropriate mode for your battery. Below is a brief introduction:

Mode Explanation

  • Suitable for charging ordinary batteries(car boat …) including GEL, SLA, WET, DEEP CYCLE, EFB, etc.
  • Suitable for AGM/GEL/EFB batteries.
  • Suitable for all kinds of motorcycles and small capacity(>2AH) lead-acid batteries.
  • Trickle charge, output current 1 amp to protect battery for long time battery charging and maintaining, perfect for winter idle car or boat batteries, etc.
  • For battery maintenance, increase the battery health status or activate the battery. 0V or bad cells batteries are forbidden to use.

Trickle Charging Function

Specially designed for lead-acid batteries to keep charging and maintain batteries for a long time, perfect for idle car or boat batteries, etc.

  1. Choosing corresponding modes (STD/AGM/GEL/MOTORCYCLE) to fully charge the battery, screen display “FUL”.
  2. Then switch to “TKL” mode it will enter trickle charging mode (Float charge) to maintain the battery’s voltage and keep batteries stay charged for a long time.
    • (Auto detect battery voltage restart charging if the voltage drops to 12.5V)

Intelligent Memory And Connecting to the Battery

Intelligent Memory

  • The battery charger has a memory function that remains the last charging mode after the new start. (Repair mode without memory function)

Connecting to the Battery

Do not connect the AC power plug until all other connections are made. Identify the correct polarity of the battery terminals on the battery.

  1. Connect the positive (red) battery clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal.
  2. Connect the negative (black) battery clamp to the negative (–) battery terminal.
  3. Connect the battery charger into a suitable electrical outlet. Do not face the battery when making this connection.
  4. After the positive and negative clips are connected, the LCD screen will light up, battery charger starts to auto-detect the temperature, voltage, current and remaining capacity (Note: After the charging ended, the battery needs to be put for an hour and the remaining capacity of the battery will be shown in the below picture).
  5. After the AC plug is connected, the screen will display “ ” which means entered the desulfurization process and will automatically switch to charging mode within 5 minutes. The screen will keep displaying battery voltage, current and working temperature during charging.
  6. If the screen is flashing “ ” and display EI-I also keep beeping sounds, then the clips should connect incorrectly or abnormally.
  7. Select the suitable charging mode accordingly.
  8. The screen will show FUL after the charging is ended, we suggest you to keep charging for 2 hours until the screen displays OFF for better battery performance.
  9. When disconnecting the battery charger, disconnect in the reverse sequence, removing the negative first (or positive first for positive ground systems).

Screen Definition

TEMP Compensation

  1. Winter: ( ) <10°C/ 50°F, Summer: ( ) >28°C/ 82°F, Normal temperature: 10°-27°C/ 50°F-80°F (no icon displayed.)
  2. During the charging process, the charger will automatically detect the environment and working temperature, automatically adjust the best charging status to protect the battery life and ensure safe charging.
  3. Detect the temperature and adjust every 3-5 seconds, there will be a very slight deviation but won’t affect the entire charging process.

Maintain/Repair

  1. Connect the battery with AC plug and switch to repair mode, the screen displays “PUL” and ( ) flashes.
  2. Usually car batteries requires about 4 hours under repair mode, and 2 hours for the motorcycle batteries and wet batteries. (You could keep the battery in repair mode if the battery is not overheated until the proper Status of Health index is reached).
  3. It has current input into the battery during the repair mode and will charge the battery after a long time repair process.
  4. If you need to stop the repair process in advance, just remove the charger’s clips and disconnect the power.

CAUTION: STOP repair mode immediately If the battery has serious heating or burning smell! (The main reason is due to the battery internal was vulcanized and lack of water, please replace battery asap)

8-Stage Charging

NC101 PRO smart battery charger features eight-stage charging during the entire process as below:

  • Stage-1: Battery desulphation
  • Stage-2: Soft start charging
  • Stage-3: Bulk charging
  • Stage-4: Absorption charging
  • Stage-5: Battery test
  • Stage-6: Recondition charging
  • Stage-7: Float & maintenance charging
  • Stage-8: Monitoring stage

Troubleshooting

  1. The screen does not display when the charger is connected to the battery?
    • Reason: The positive and negative clips are connected incorrectly or the battery is dead.
    • Solution: Check whether the clips are connected reversed, use a battery tester to see whether the battery is dead or not.
  2. Screen will display the voltage but don’t charge the battery
    • Reason: there is no input voltage.
    • Solution: Connect to a 110-220V AC socket.
  3. The battery can’t be charged and is low current, but the screen display (FUL) indicates fully charged.
    • Reason: This is caused by the battery’s vulcanization and inside lack of water, low voltage or leave it unused for a long time. The internal resistance of the battery and capacity will reduce greatly, Then it will reach full voltage quickly while charging.
    • Solution: Choose repair mode to reactivate the battery!
  4. Can’t fully charged after a long time.
    • Reason: battery vulcanization or lack of water also low voltage can lead to this situation, the battery will become hot while charging.
    • Solution: Stop charging. Check whether the battery liquid was leaked if it’s a wet battery.
  5. Tried charging a battery overnight for over 8 hours and no charge at all, kept blinking the battery percentage icon all night long.
    • Reason: battery charger can not charge totally dead batteries(0V or bad cells contained).
    • Solution: try repair function or replace this battery directly.
