INTRODUCTION

  1. PLEASE LEAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS WITH THE END USER.
  2. This kit is must be installed by a competent person. THIS IS NOT A DIY INSTALLATION.
  3. Installation must take place prior to the final fixing of the fireplace or Geocast beam as access to the rear will be necessary. We do not recommend retrofitting this light set into an existing fireplace as removal from the wall and precision drilling is needed. Please refer to your Fireplace dealer for further advice.
  4. The LED spotlight and driver unit can be replaced by the end user, taking care to isolate at the mains first. This can be done by removing the spotlight and carefully withdrawing the cable and driver through the hole for the lights.
  5. The toggle switch can become warm-to-touch and so it is recommended that the fire is turned off at least 20 minutes before turning off the lights. The switch can also be replaced if necessary, this is done by carefully easing it out from its seating complete with approximately 20cm of the two joining cables until the connector blocks can be safely disconnected. When reconnecting ensure the spade connectors on the switch housing are secure before reinstallation. Again, ensure the mains supply is disconnected first!

FIREPLACE / BEAM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Two 50mm diameter holes for the light fittings
  2. One 20mm diameter hole for the toggle switch
  3. Material thickness 5mm to 20mm maximum.
  4. Ensure a 300mm distance from the top of the stove and 300mm distance for direct line of sight to flue.

INSTALLATION

  1. Locate on which side of the fireplace lies the wall socket you plan to use. Ensure there is sufficient cable from the 20mm switch hole to run inside the header, down the inside leg and across to the wall socket. The plug cable supplied is 3 meters long and should be sufficient for most installations.
  2. Understand how you plan for the mains cable to exit from the installation and prepare any necessary cutting-in. Ensure the cable cannot be pinched once the fireplace is assembled.
  3. From the underside of the fireplace header, feed the connecting cables from the toggle switch through the 20mm diameter hole. Image 1 shows connectors and switch
  4. Connect one end of the switch cable to the mains cord and the other to 20cm part of the connection cable assembly.
  5. Push the switch up into the 20mm hole from below ensuring no cables are trapped
  6. Connect the two loose ends of the 90cm part of the connection cable to the two driver/spotlight assemblies.
  7. It is very important that the driver units are located as far away from the heat source as possible to avoid potential failure from overheating.
  8. If connected, disconnect the spotlights from the drivers. Press the springs on the rear of the spotlight unit together (image 2) and push up into position from underneath the header/beam.
  9. Reconnect each spotlight to its driver (image 3)
  10. Turn on the set temporarily to ensure it is working correctly before isolating the power supply and fitting the fireplace permanently, taking care to ensure no wires are trapped.
