About your phone

Setting up your phone

Your phone already has a SIM card installed. For an optimal wireless experience, use the SIM installed in your new phone. MicroSD cards (capacity up to 2TB)
Note: mircoSD card is sold separately.

1. Install the SIM card /microSD card

Step 1. If you need to replace the NANO SIM card and/or insert an optional microSD card, use the SIM tool provided in the box to open the SIM tray.

Step 2. Remove the NANO SIM card/microSD card tray.
Step 3. Place the SIM card and/or microSD card into the tray, then slide the tray into the slot. It only fits one direction. Do not force into place. Keep the SIM tool in a safe place for future use.

NOTE : A Verizon SIM card is already installed in your phone. This diagram shows SIM card location if you choose to remove or replace it.

2. Charge the phone

Before turning on your phone, charge it fully.
Insert the small end of the USB cable into the phone.
Insert the larger end into the charger and plug it into an outlet

WARNING : Only use approved chargers with your device. Incompatible chargers or tampering with the charger port could damage your device and void the warranty.

3. Turn your phone on/off

To turn your phone on, press and hold the Power/Lock button until the screen turns on.
NOTE : The first time you turn on your phone, you will need to activate it.
See the Welcome Guide included with your phone. After you turn on the phone, follow the on screen instructions to set up your device.
To turn your phone off, press both the Power/Lock button and Volume up button at the same time, then tap Power off on the screen when it appears. You can also swipe down from the notification panel and tap > Power off.

Locking/unlocking the screen
To turn on your screen, press the Power/Lock button. Then swipe up on the screen to unlock it.
To turn off your screen and prevent accidental key presses, press the Power/Lock button.

Using your phone

Touch screen tips

Use touch gestures to move around the screen, open menus, select items, zoom in and out of web pages and more.

There are several touch gestures recognized by your phone:

Tap —Tap the screen with your finger to select items or press buttons on the screen.
Touch and hold —Touch and hold an item on the screen (such as a link in a web page) to open available options.
Swipe —Swipe by quickly sliding your finger in any direction.
Drag —To drag, touch and hold an item and move it to a new position.
Double tap —Double tap to zoom in/out on a web page or picture.
Multi-touch —Pinch or spread your thumb and index finger to zoom in or out.

Home screen

The Home screen provides quick access to all the items (applications, shortcuts, folders and widgets) you like to use most frequently.

Touch the Home symbol to get instant access to the Home screen.

The Home screen offers multiple pages for shortcuts or applications you may download from the Play Store. Simply swipe your finger horizontally to the left. From the Home screen, swipe right to view a Google news feed page.

Making a call

From the Home Screen, tap Phone .
Tap Keypad .
Enter the number you want to call in the keypad or use the Search Contacts bar to enter the first few letters of a contact’s name. Tap the correct entry to make a call.
Tap Call to place a call.
To hang up a call, tap .

Receiving a call

When you receive a call, a call window will be presented on top of the screen. Touch Decline to dismiss a call or Answer to answer a call.

Touch the call window to open the Phone call screen.

On the Phone call screen:

Swipe Phone up to answer the call;
Swipe Phone down to reject the call;
Swipe Message up to reject the call by sending a preset message.

To mute incoming calls, press the Volume Key.

Setting up Voice Mail

From the Home screen, tap Phone .
Tap ***and dail 86, then tap .
When you hear a greeting, press # to interrupt.
Follow the instructions to set up your voicemail.

Checking Voice Mail

From your phone:

1. From the Home screen, tap Phone

2. From Keypad , press and hold number 1

From other phones

Dial your wireless number
When the greeting begins, press # to interrupt
Follow the instructions to listen to, save or discard phone messages

NOTE : Voice mailboxes not set up within 45 days will be canceled. Your voice mailbox is not password protected until you create a password by following the setup tutorial. Voice Mail may not be available in some areas. Follow the setup instructions to password-protect your Verizon Wireless Voice Mailbox. Verizon Wireless is not responsible for missed messages or deletions of messages from your Voice Mailbox, even if you have saved them.

Using eSIM

An eSIM is an industry-standard digital SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from your carrier without having to use a physical SIM. eSIM is stored digitally on your phone, which reduces the risk of physical damage, loss, or theft of your SIM.

NOTE : You will need to activate your phone with a Verizon SIM card before setting up eSIM.

Text messaging

Tap Google Message from the Home Screen or App Tray.
Tap Start chat to start a new text message.
Enter the name or number of the recipient, or select a contact from your contacts list.
Compose the text message in the text box, and tap to send.

NOTE : Data charges will apply when sending and receiving picture or video messages. International or roaming text charges may apply to those messages outside of the United States of America. See your carrier agreement for more details about messaging and related charges.

Picture and video messaging

Take pictures or videos and send them to almost any email address, or to other phones.

From the Home screen, tap Google Message then to begin a text message tap Start chat .
Enter the name or number of the recipient, or select a contact from your contacts list.
Tap and choose the pictures or videos you want to send.
After attaching the pictures or videos, tap to send.

Web browsing

From the Home Screen, tap Chrome .
Then type a search term or web address in the Google search box and press .

Installing apps

From the Home Screen, tap Play Store .

Verizon Cloud

Verizon Cloud offers secure online storage to back up your contacts and sync them with your other cloud-connected devices.

Google Assistant

Google Assistant is built into your phone. When activated, Google Assistant will pop-up on your screen to let you know it is listening- speak your command when ready.

There are multiple ways to access it:

Press and hold the Home and speak your command.
Tap the Microphone on the Google Search bar located at the top of the Home screen and speak your command.
Be sure your phone is on and unlocked, then say out loud, “Hey Google” followed by a new command.
Tap the “Google Assistant” app from the Home screen and speak your command.
Press and hold the power/Lock button and speak your command.

International services

Keep in touch with family and friends while at home and abroad with our Prepaid International plans.

TravelPass

Take your domestic talk, text and data allowances with you for a low daily rate. You’re only charged on the days you use your wireless plan abroad.

Location based services

This phone can determine its location, which is useful for services such as navigation, shopping and weather. For your safety, it’s defaulted to acquire your location only when you dial 911. To use location-based services, swipe up from Home screen, tap Settings > Location.

Using RTT

Real-time text (RTT) is a feature that can make it easier for customers to carry on a live conversation through text (or text and simultaneous voice) during a call, with each text character transmitted immediately as it is typed. Unlike TTY (Text Telephony), there’s no need for a separate device. The person you are calling must have either RTT or TTY enabled on their device for the text capability to work.

If your device instead uses TTY and TDD (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf) technology that allows similar text-based communications by telephone, you must have a TTY-compatible phone and be in the TTY mode to place or receive calls.

Safety and Precautions

SAR

This product meets applicable national SAR limits of 1.6 W/kg. The specific maximum SAR values can be found in the “ Radio waves ” section.

When carrying the product or using it while worn on your body, either use an approved accessory such as a holster or otherwise maintain a distance of 15 mm from the body to ensure compliance with RF exposure requirements. Note that the product may be transmitting even if you are not making a phone call.

PROTECT YOUR HEARING
To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume levels for long periods. Exercise caution when holding your phone near your ear while the loudspeaker is in use.

This phone has been tested and rated for use with hearing aids for some of the wireless technologies that it uses. We recommend that you read this chapter carefully before using your phone. The manufacturer disclaims any liability for damage, which may result as a consequence of improper use or use contrary to the instructions contained herein.

TRAFFIC SAFETY:

Given that studies show that using a phone while driving a vehicle constitutes a real risk, even when the hands-free kit is used (car kit, headset…), drivers are requested to refrain from using their phone when the vehicle is not parked. Check the laws and regulations on the use of wireless phones and their accessories in the areas where you drive. Always obey them. The use of these devices may be prohibited or restricted in certain areas.

CONDITIONS OF USE:

You are advised to switch off the phone from time to time to optimize its performance;
Remember to abide by local authority rules of mobile phone use on aircrafts;
Your phone is a unibody device, where the back cover and battery are not removable, disassembling the phone will void your warranty. Disassembling the phone can cause bodily injury if the battery is punctured;
Always handle your phone with care and keep it in a clean and dust-free place;
Do not allow your phone to be exposed to adverse weather or environmental conditions, such as moisture, humidity, rain, infiltration of liquids, dust, sea air, etc. The manufacturer’s recommended operating temperature range is 0°C (32°F) to +40°C (104°F). At over 40°C (104°F), the legibility of the phone’s display may be temporarily impaired;
Do not open, dismantle, or attempt to repair your phone yourself;
Do not drop, throw, or bend your phone;
Use only batteries, battery chargers, and accessories which are recommended by TCL Communication Ltd. and its affiliates and are compatible with your phone model. TCL Communication Ltd. and its affiliates disclaim any liability for damage caused by the use of other chargers or batteries;
Your phone should not be disposed of in a municipal waste. Please check local regulations for disposal of electronic products;
Remember to make backup copies or keep a written record of all important information stored on your phone;
Some people may suffer epileptic seizures or blackouts when exposed to flashing lights, or when playing video games. These seizures or blackouts may occur even if a person never had a previous seizure or blackout. If you have experienced seizures or blackouts, or if you have a family history of such occurrences, please consult your doctor before playing video games on your phone or enabling a flashing-lights feature on your phone;
Parents should monitor their children’s use of video games or other features that incorporate flashing lights on the phones. All persons should discontinue use and consult a doctor if any of the following symptoms occur: convulsion, eye or muscle twitching, loss of awareness, orientation, or movements.

PRIVACY:

Please note that you must respect the laws and regulations in force in your jurisdiction or other jurisdiction(s) where you will use your phone regarding taking photographs and recording sounds with your phone. Pursuant to such laws and regulations, it may be strictly forbidden to take photographs and/or to record the voices of other people or any of their personal attributes, and reproduce or distribute them, as this may be considered to be an invasion of privacy. It is the user’s sole responsibility to ensure that prior authorization has been obtained, if necessary, in order to record private or confidential conversations or take a photograph of another person; the manufacturer, the seller or vendor of your phone (including the carrier) disclaim any liability which may result from improper use of the phone.

BATTERY:

For a unibody device:
Observe the following precautions:

Do not attempt to open the back cover;
Do not attempt to eject, replace, or open the battery;
Do not puncture the back cover of your phone;
Do not burn or dispose of a used battery in household garbage or store it at temperatures above 60°C (140°F);
Do not disassemble or open crush, bend or deform, puncture or shred;
Do not modify or remanufacture, attempt to insert foreign objects into the battery, immerse or expose to water or other liquids, expose to fire, explosion or other hazard;
Only use the battery for the system for which it is specified;
Only use the battery with a charging system that has been qualified with the system per CTIA •Certification Requirements for Battery System Compliance to IEEE 1725. Use of an unqualified battery or charger may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage, or other hazard;
Do not short circuit a battery or allow metallic conductive objects to contact battery terminals.
Replace the battery only with another battery that has been qualified with the system per this standard, IEEE-Std-1725. Use of an unqualified battery may present a risk of fire, explosion, leakage or other hazard. Only authorized service providers shall replace battery. (If the battery is non-user replaceable);
Promptly dispose of used batteries in accordance with local regulations
Battery usage by children should be supervised;
Avoid dropping the phone or battery. If the phone or battery is dropped, especially on a hard surface, and the user suspects damage, take it to a service center for inspection;
Improper battery use may result in a fire, explosion or other hazard;
Phone and battery as a unibody device must be disposed of in accordance with locally applicable environmental regulations.
This symbol on your phone, the battery, and the accessories means that these products must be taken to collection points at the end of their life:
Municipal waste disposal centers with specific bins for these types of equipment;
Collection bins at points of sale.
They will then be recycled, preventing substances being disposed of in the environment, so that their components can be reused.

In European Union countries:
These collection points are accessible free of charge.
All products with this sign must be brought to these collection points.

In non-European Union jurisdictions:

Items of equipment with this symbol are not to be thrown into ordinary bins if your jurisdiction or your region has suitable recycling and collection facilities; instead they are to be taken to collection points for them to be recycled.

Radio waves

THIS PHONE MEETS THE GOVERNMENT’S REQUIREMENTS FOR EXPOSURE TO RADIO WAVES.

Your phone is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio-frequency (RF) energy. These limits are part of comprehensive guidelines and establish permitted levels of RF energy for the general population. The guidelines are based on standards that were developed by independent scientific organizations through periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific studies. These guidelines include a substantial safety margin designed to ensure the safety of all persons, regardless of age and health.

The exposure standard for phones employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit set by public authorities such as the Federal Communications Commission of the US Government (FCC), or by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISEDC), is 1.6 W/kg averaged over 1 gram of body tissue. Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions with the phone transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands.

This device is complied with SAR for general population /uncontrolled exposure limits in ANSI/IEEE C95.1-1992 and had been tested in accordance with the measurement methods and procedures specified in IEEE1528.

The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization for this model phone with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. SAR information on this model phone is on file with the FCC and can be found under the Display Grant section of www.fcc. gov/oet/ea/fccid after searching on FCC ID: 2ACCJH179

Although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the phone while operating can be well below the maximum value. This is because the phone is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the power required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output of the phone. Before a phone model is available for sale to the public, compliance with national regulations and standards must be shown.

The highest SAR value for this model phone when tested is 1.19 W/Kg for use at the ear and 1.10 W/Kg for use close to the body.

While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various phones and at various positions, they all meet the government requirement for RF exposure.

For body-worn operation, the phone meets FCC RF exposure guidelines provided that it is used with a non-metallic accessory with the handset at least 15 mm from the body.

Use of other accessories may not ensure compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines.

The World Health Organization (WHO) considers that present scientific information does not indicate the need for any special precautions for use of phones. If individuals are concerned, they may choose to limit their own or their children’s RF exposure by limiting the length of calls, or using “hands- free” devices to keep phones away from the head and body. Note : This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. Your phone is equipped with a built-in antenna. For optimal operation, you should avoid touching it or degrading it.

As mobile devices offer a range of functions, they can be used in positions other than against your ear. In such circumstances the device will be compliant with the guidelines when used with a headset or usb data cable.

If you are using another accessory ensure that whatever product is used is free of any metal and that it positions the phone at least 15 mm away from the body.

Please note by using the device some of your personal data may be shared with the main device. It is under your own responsibility to protect your own personal data, not to share with it with any unauthorized devices or third party devices connected to yours. For products with Wi-Fi features, only connect to trusted Wi-Fi networks. Also when using your product as a hotspot (where available), use network security. These precautions will help prevent unauthorized access to your device. Your product can store personal information in various locations including a SIM card, memory card, and built- in memory. Be sure to remove or clear all personal information before you recycle, return, or give away your product. Choose your apps and updates carefully, and install from trusted sources only. Some apps can impact your product’s performance and/or have access to private information including account details, call data, location details and network resources.

You can access, review, and edit your personal information at any time by logging into your user account, visiting your user profile or by contacting us directly. Should you require us to edit or delete your personal data, we may ask you to provide us with evidence of your identity before we can act on your request.

The Android robot is reproduced or modified from work created and shared by Google and used according to terms described in the Creative Commons 3.0 Attribution License (the text will show when you touch Google legal in Settings > System > About phone > Legal information) (1).

You have purchased a product which uses the open source (http://opensource.org/) programs mtd, msdosfs, netfilter/iptables and initrd in object code and other open source programs licensed under the GNU General Public Licence and Apache Licence.

You may download the source codes from https://sourceforge.net/ projects/tcl- mobile/files/. The provision of the source code is free of charge from the internet.

Hearing Aid Compatibility (HAC)

This phone is hearing aid compatible as determined by ANSI C63.19- 2019.
This phone has been tested and certified for use with hearing aids forsome of the wireless technologies that it uses. However, there may be some newer wireless technologies used in this phone that have not been tested yet for use with hearing aids. It is important to try the different features of this phone thoroughly and in different locations, using your hearing aid or cochlear implant, to determine if you hear any interfering noise. Consult your service provider or the manufacturer of this phone for information on hearing aid compatibility. If you have questions about return or exchange policies, consult your service.
The ANSI C63.19-2019 standard does not use the M/T rating system for showing the hearing aid compatible of the phone that older version of the standard used, instead, the 2019 version of the standard uses the conversational gains for the phone’s hearing aid compatible capabilities.
The volume control performance has been evaluated according to ANSI C63.19-2019 and waiver DA-23-914. The lowest conversational gain is 11.23 dB with a hearing aid, and 14.72 dB without a hearing-aid provider or phone retailer.

Protection against theft

Your phone is identified by an IMEI (phone serial number) shown on the packaging label and in the phone’s memory. We recommend that you note the number the first time you use your phone by entering *#06# and keep it in a safe place. It may be requested by the police or your carrier if your phone is stolen. This number allows your phone to be blocked preventing a third person from using it, even with a different SIM card.
