Introduction

The 3-Series Temperature & Humidity Sensor can increase the sensing capacity of your connected home by keeping track of changes in indoor temperature and humidity. Utilize the sensor to instruct your HVAC system automatically, allowing it to respond to your comfort level and reduce energy waste by turning on or off the HVAC unit based on temperature criteria that you specify. Installing temperature sensors will also significantly reduce your utility costs, allowing you to save money. Your home or business will require less electricity to power everything because these goods utilize less energy. The monthly cost of this particular expense is thereby decreased. Longer battery life and a wider operating range are now included with the 3-Series Temperature and Humidity Sensor.

In the event of a temperature-sensitive warning, a better signal indicates timely and accurate information, enabling you to react more rapidly. The battery may be readily replaced and has a lifespan of two years. The 3-Series Temperature and Humidity Sensor is compatible with all ZigBee platforms, including SmartThings, Hubitat, Ezlo, Vera, and those that allow indoor temperature and humidity monitoring. The working temperature spans a range of 0 to 40°C as well. -20 to 50 degrees Celsius for transportation and storage. The range of humidity is 0 to 90% R.H. We stand behind our Centralite 3-Series Water Sensor since your comfort is Centralite’s top priority. Any problems with the quality are fixed with a replacement or a refund.

WHERE TO USE TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY SENSOR

  • Install the sensor in a basement or another area where mold and mildew may develop as a result of an excessive amount of humidity. Prior to the need for expensive repairs, identify problem areas.
  • Install as well inside the freezer or refrigerator to prevent losing expensive frozen or chilled food due to equipment malfunction or power loss. There are also commercial walk-in coolers available.
  • Before water pipes freeze, check the temperature in any unheated spaces or buildings by getting an alarm for low temperatures.
  • Keep a watch on any other thing or location that has temperature and humidity sensors, such as your wine cellar or humidor for cigars.

GETTING STARTED

  • STEP 1: JOIN THE OPEN ZIGBEE NETWORK
Enable the ZigBee network for joining via the interface on your controller or hu

  • STEP 2: PULL TAB FROM SENSOR’S BOTTOM
When you pull the tiny plastic tab from the bottom of the sensor, it will start looking for a network to join

  • STEP 3: completed joining at hub (optional

  • STEP 4: Some hubs and controllers call for extra procedures, such giving the device a name or category.

TROUBLESHOOTING

  • STEP 1: REMOVE AND REPLACE THE DEVICE’S BATTERY.

Remove the cover and slide the sensor off the mount. Replace the old CR-2 battery by removing it. Reassemble, then test the system.

  • STEP 2: REJOIN AND RESET THE FACTORY

Remove the cover, battery, and sensor by sliding it off the mounting bracket. Replace the battery to perform a factory reset while maintaining pressure on the reset button. To rejoin the ZigBee network, repeat the “Getting Started” procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the device handler I can use for Smartthings?

You can select the “SmartSense Temp/Humidity Sensor” device handler.

How often does it report temperature reading to Wink Hub 2?

Mine appears to give an update whenever the temperature changes by 1-degree F.

I am seeing this is now compatible with the echo plus? Anyone try it yet?

Yes, this device now works with the Echo Plus. I tested it this morning and you can have Alexa a custom phrase when it detects motion. For example, when it detects motion you can have it say “motion detected in living room”. The Centralite contact sensor also works with the Echo Plus. You can trigger lights to be controlled based off sensor events now too.

Can this be put outside?

It is not weather sealed, or really the right kind of plastic to be exposed to UV to use outside. And taking a look at the circuit board, there is no conformal coating. So, my best answer to you would be that is not a great idea, no. If you needed something short term (say a week or so) and it wasn’t directly exposed to weather, it would probably work just fine, but for long term, I would look for a more robust, outside rated device.

Does it have a chime feature?

The sensor itself does not have a chime feature. However, if you use it with the Amazon Echo Plus, you can create a routine that “speaks” when the sensor is opened. For example, if you installed this on your front door, you could have Alexa say ” front door opened” each time the contact sensor was opened.

Once motion sensor detects movements, how it let me know? By alarm or text from my phone?

It depends on what Smart Home Hub you have it connected to. If you are using a SmartThings or Wink hub, I believe you can get a notification via push notification or text message. You will need to set this up in the rules or routines section of the hub. You can also try using them as triggers to perform different tasks in your home.

Will this work with any echo? Or only echo 4th gen?

Depends on the feature. No humidity in echo.

What is the maximum range the contact sensor can be from a Zigbee hub such as the Echo Plus?

the maximum range of the sensor is 130+ ft. (40+ m) L.O.S, this keeping in mind that you don’t have any obstacles from one device to another.

Does the door sensor do temp & humidity or is it a different sensor for humidity?

The Centralite Micro Door Sensor has a built-in temperature sensor; however, the functionality of this capability depends on the integration the device has with the smart home hub you’re using.

Does this work ok in cold temperatures? Planning to install in garage where garage temps can get below freezing in winter.

The Micro Motion Sensor will have no problem detecting motion in your garage’s environment, but battery life will be reduced in sub-freezing temperatures. This is because of battery chemistry and not related to the device itself.

Is there a way to push notifications to email? I need to keep a record of motions

No, only push notifications from Alexa app.

I don’t succeed in pairing with my echo show gen 2 the water leak sensor: when discovering, the green light turns on for a second and then nothing.

I’m not sure echo has a z wave hub built in. I use Wink. Also works with smart things.

Are there any multi pack offers for these devices?

no, currently there are no multi-pack offers with this device.

Can this be placed inside a chest freezer or refrigerator?

Although I would try to find out from the manufacturer the temperature extremes it can withstand. I have one mounted outside in a covered closet and have had no issues through the winter with over a week of single digits, however my guess would be the freezer may wind up giving false readings long term.
