HOW TO USE

  1. First, start by choosing the rod blank on which you will be installing the Tsuka 2 handle. Take into consideration an increase in rod length of approximately 6″ for spinning and 7 ¼” for casting, depending on the outer diameter of the blank. For example, if you choose a 7′ rod blank paired with a Tsuka 2 Spinning handle, you can expect the finished rod to be about 7’6″ in total length.
  2. Dry-fit the Tsuka 2 to measure where your blank will fit inside, and mark the blank with a grease pencil.
  3. Add a masking tape arbor to the blank in the location where the blank meets the Inner Handle Wall, as well as 2-3 arbors where the reel seat threads are located on the Tsuka 2. At this time, apply masking tape to the reel seat threads to prevent any unwanted glue on the threads.
  4. Butt cap installation – dry fit the butt cap to the bottom end of the handle. If the butt cap is slightly loose, you can add a few passes of masking tape to the tenon lip to ensure a proper fit. Now glue the butt cap to the handle. Prepare the paste epoxy and apply to the butt cap (and arbor if needed) where it contacts the handle internally.
  5. Apply glue inside the Tsuka 2 handle where your arbors will be placed, and on the arbors on the blank. Omit applying paste epoxy on the blank section between the top and bottom arbors, as this area will not contact the inner wall of the Tsuka 2.
  6. Twist and slide the rod blank into the handle, ensuring that the reel seat channel aligns with the position where the guides will line up on the rod blank.
  7. Remove masking tape from handle threads and clean up any excess paste epoxy with paper towels and isopropyl alcohol. Once in place, set the rod vertically to allow the epoxy to dry.
  8. *Optional: If using the ASCHL Seat Check Long, apply a thin line of paste epoxy to the blank just above the handle, and slide the seat check down to the handle.
