Safety instructions
Read the instruction manual carefully before using this device, especially the safety instructions, and keep the instruction manual for future use. Should you give this device to another person, it is vital that you also pass on these instructions for use.
Power supply
- Before connecting the device to your power supply, please ensure that the supply voltage stated on the rating plate is compatible with your mains supply.
- The control switch should not be covered or placed on or below the heated blanket while the unit is in operation.
- Keep the mains lead away from hot surfaces.
- Never carry, pull or turn the heated blanket by the mains lead and do not let the lead get tangled.
- Never touch a device that has fallen into water. Unplug the unit from the mains outlet immediately.
- The controls and leads must not be exposed to any kind of moisture.
- The heated blanket may only be operated with the control unit (SS09) supplied.
For special people
- Do not use for infants.
- Do not use for individuals with paralysis or those with delayed temperature sensitivity, such as pregnant women, diabetes patients, etc.
- Do not use for individuals who are deeply asleep or unconscious.
- Do not use the heated blanket on children or persons who are disabled, asleep or insensitive to heat (persons who cannot react on overheating).
- This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
- Children shall not play with the appliance.
- Children below the age of 3 years are not allowed to use this device, because they are not able to react on overheating.
- The heated blanket must not be used by young children over the age of 3 years, unless the control unit has been adjusted accordingly by its parents or legal guardians or unless the child has been well instructed how to use the control unit properly.
- This appliance can be used by children older than 3 years and younger than 8 years under supervision and with the control always set to minimum temperature.
- The cable and control unit of the appliance can give rise to risks of entanglement, strangulation, tripping or treading if not correctly arranged. The user shall make sure that electric cords shall be arranged in a safe way.
- Should you have any concerns about health issues, consult your doctor before using the heated blanket.
- Do not use the heated blanket on parts of the body that are swollen, injured or inflamed.
- Should you experience persistent pains in the muscles and joints, please inform your doctor. Persistent pains can be a symptom of serious illness.
- If you wear a pacemaker, please be aware that the electromagnetic fields emanating from this electric product may, under certain circumstances, interfere with the functions of your pacemaker. Therefore, ask your doctor and the manufacturer of the pacemaker for advice before using this product.
- If you experience any pain or discomfort while using the unit, stop using it immediately.
Operating the device
- Only use the device for its intended use as in the instruction manual. If misused, all guarantee rights shall become null and void.
- Carefully check the heated blanket before each use, if you notice wear or damage. Do not use if you notice wear, damage or signs of improper use on the heated blanket, the switch or the cables or if the device is not working.
- Avoid use in flammable environments or near oxygen-rich areas and oxygen storage equipment.
- Do not use or store the heated blanket by forcefully bending or twisting it.
- Do not pull the plug by tugging on the power cord.
- Do not use safety pins or other metal objects to secure the heated blanket to prevent electrical shock.
- Do not fold or crease the heated blanket during use.
- Neither pierce the heated blanket with, nor attach safety pins or other spiky or sharp objects to the heated blanket.
- Never use the heated blanket unsupervised.
- The device is only for private use and is not to be used in hospitals.
- Do not fall asleep while the heated blanket is switched on.
- Prolonged use of the heated blanket at a high setting could lead to skin burns.
- Do not cover the heated blanket with any other cushions.
- If the appliance is used on an adjustable bed, check that the blanket and cord do not become trapped or rucked, for example in hinges.
- Do not use the heated blanket when wet and only use it in dry environments (not in the bathroom or similar environments).
- Do not use in an oxygen atmosphere.
- Burns can occur regardless of control setting, check skin under pad frequently.
- Place the heated blanket on top of and not under the part of body needing heat.
- This product is suitable for use with 220-240V AC only. Unplug when not in use. Do not use with generator power inverters.
- Do not use this heated blanket with liniment, salve or ointment preparations. Skin burns could result.
- Loop cord loosely when storing. Tight wrapping may damage cord and internal parts.
Maintenance and cleaning
- You are only permitted to clean the unit. To avoid hazards, never repair the device yourself. Contact the customer service.
- Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
- If the power supply cable is damaged, it may only be replaced by medisana, an authorised dealer or by qualified personnel in order to avoid hazards.
- A damaged power supply cable must be replaced with a power cable of the same type.
- If a fault occurs, do not attempt to repair the unit yourself. Repairs must only be carried out by an authorized specialist dealer or other suitably qualified personnel.
- When storing the heated blanket, allow it to cool down before laying out flat in a clean and dry place.
- Do not store the device with any objects covering or resting on top of it in order to avoid sharp crinkles.
Scope of supply
Please check first of all that the device is complete and is not damaged in any way. In case of doubt, do not use the it and contact your dealer or your service centre. The following parts are included:

If you notice any transport damage during unpacking, please contact your dealer without delay.
WARNING
Please ensure that the polythene packing is kept away from the reach of
children!

Operating

Locate cord connector on the product.

Do not plug into the wall outlet until you have connected the controller cord to the product.

Attach the pad connector to the control connector, ensure a tight fit for both parts before plugging the unit into an electrical outlet.

Plug the unit into a 220-240V AC main outlet and hold the Power button 2 for one second to turn on the heated blanket.

After a few minutes you will be able to feel the heated blanket getting noticeably warmer.

There are 9 levels of temperature setting, the default temperature level is 1. If you require a higher temperature level, please set between level 2 to level 9 by pressing the Temperature setting button 3.
Temperature levels: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
Once you have reached level 9, you could press with Temperature setting button 3 again to switch back to level 1. -
Press the Time setting button 1 to adjust the automatic switch off time from level 1-9. The automatic switch-off time is adjustable from 20 to 180 minutes (each setting increases by 20 minutes. Default automatic switch-off time is 20 minutes).

To switch off your heated blanket, press the Power button 2 and then there should be nothing showing on the indicator panel. Switch off and unplug the power cable at the socket.
CAUTION The heated blanket has safety protection against overheating and
is set to run continuously for 180 minutes. If you wish to extend that time,
it is advisable to let the heated blanket cool down for 5 minutes before using
it again.
WARNING When the heated blanket is likely to be used for a long time or
when falling asleep, please adjust the heat setting on the controller to level
Cleaning and maintenance
- Before cleaning the heated blanket, unplug it from the mains outlet and let it cool down for at least ten minutes.
- The heated blanket is equipped with a removable control unit SS09.
- Unplug the control unit from the heated blanket by pulling out the connection cable from the plug on the heated blanket.
- The heated blanket can be cleaned dry (with a soft brush) or as described in the instructions on the product label.
- Never use strong detergents or hard brushes.
- To dry, lay the heated blanket flat on a moisture-absorbent towel or mat.
- Only use the blanket again once it is completely dry.Reconnect the control unit to the heated blanket in the correct manner.
- You should untangle the cable from time to time.
- Store the unit in a clean and dry place, laid out flat with nothing covering or resting on top of it.
Disposal
This product must not be disposed of together with domestic waste. All
users are obliged to hand in all electrical or electronic devices, regardless
of whether or not they contain toxic substances, at a municipal or commercial
collection point so that they can be disposed of in an environmentally
acceptable manner. Consult your municipal authority or your dealer for
information about disposal.

If you need to return the device, please indicate the defect and enclose a
copy the purchase receipt. The following warranty conditions apply:

All medisana products are guaranteed for three years from the date of purchase.
The date of purchase is to be proven in case of warranty by the purchase receipt or invoice. -
Defects due to material or manufacturing defects shall be eliminated free of charge within the warranty period.

A warranty service does not extend the warranty period for either the equipment or any replacement parts.

The following are excluded from the guarantee:
a. any damage caused by improper handling, e.g. by non-observance of the instruction manual.
b. Damage due to repair or intervention by the purchaser or unauthorised third parties.
c. Transport damage that has occurred on the way from the manufacturer to the consumer or when sending it to the service centre. -
Liability for direct or indirect consequential damages caused by the device is also excluded if the damage to the device is recognised as a warranty case.
