The following basic precautions should always be followed when using electrical appliances:

  1. Read all instructions before using the appliance.

  2. This appliance must be used only for the purpose it was expressly designed; any use NOT complying with the instructions contained in the manual is considered inappropriate and dangerous. The manufacturer is NOT responsible for possible damages caused by the inappropriate and/or unreasonable use.

  3. The appliance is designed for cooking porridge, chowders, stews, soups, purees, desserts, baby food & scented teas. DO NOT add a large quantity of liquids other than water into the Ceramic Pot as the appliance was designed for heating water only. Different liquids have different boiling points, with volatile liquids having boiling points lower than 100, the boiling point of water.

  4. The installation/assembly of the appliance will be made by the indications of the manufacturer. A wrong procedure may cause damages to persons, animals, or objects, for which the manufacturer cannot be considered responsible.

  5. Before use, check the integrity of the appliance and power cable. DO NOT operate the appliance when its housing is damaged. In case you are not sure, contact a qualified person. If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer/service agent or a qualified technician to avoid a shock hazard.

  6. Before powering the appliance make sure the rating (voltage and frequency) corresponding to the grid and the socket is suitable for the plug of the appliance, and the wall socket is properly grounded. This appliance is fitted with an earth wire for extra safety.

  7. Avoid the use of adapters and/or extension cables; if their use is necessary, use only materials in compliance with the current safety regulations and whose marked electrical rating should be at least as high as the electrical rating of the appliance. To prevent overloading and blown fuses, ensure that no other high-powered appliance is plugged into the same socket.

  8. The appliance must NOT be switched on using external timers and/or other remote control appliances, which are not specified in this manual.

  9. Only use original components & accessories provided by the manufacturer. Any non-original component or accessory NOT recommended by the manufacturer may cause injuries to persons or damage the appliance. DO NOT use other Ceramic Pots or Glass Lids made by other manufacturers or by the same manufacturer but for other models of the same capacity or otherwise. Doing so will void the warranty and may cause serious injury.

  10. The packing materials (plastic bags, expanded polystyrene, etc.) must be kept out of the reach of children or disabled persons since they represent potential sources of danger.
    Location

  11. This appliance is NOT suitable to be used or stored near heat sources (open flame, ovens, heaters, stoves, etc.) and/or in an explosive environment (in the presence of flammable substances such as gas, vapor, mist, or dust, in atmospheric conditions when, after ignition, the combustion is spread in the air). Items containing these substances should never be placed in the appliance, and never be used to clean the appliance to avert the risk of fire or explosion.

  12. The appliance should NOT be placed on a surface, or in the vicinity of objects, which can be damaged by heat, such as carpets, curtains, textiles, or plastics. Do NOT use the appliance when placed in a closed cabinet. During operation, as heat is transferred away from the appliance, the surface that the appliance is placed upon as well as the surface immediately above or adjacent to it may become very hot. There should be at least 10 cm of free space from the back, left & right sides and at least 20 cm from the top of the appliance to allow adequate air circulation. Never put things on top of the Glass Lid. DO NOT locate multiple portable socket outlets or power supplies at the bottom or rear of the appliance. If the appliance is operated on wooden furniture, use a protective pad to prevent damage to delicate finishes.

  13. Avoid placing the power cable (and extension cable, if used) on abrasive or sharp surfaces or in positions where it can be damaged easily. Avoid placing heavy objects on the cable. The cable must NOT be placed under carpets, or covered with throw rugs, runners, or similar. Arrange the cable away from the high traffic area, and where it will NOT be tripped over. DO NOT pull or carry the appliance by the cable.

  14. DO NOT use or store the appliance outdoors. Store and use the appliance only indoors, or in any case, protected from weather such as rain, direct radiation of the sun, and dust.
    Operation

  15. If you are using the appliance for the first time, you should:

    • Clean the exterior of the appliance with water & detergent with a non-abrasive sponge.

    • DO NOT use metal scouring pads.

    • Handle the Ceramic Pot & Glass Lid carefully. They are fragile and are NOT covered by warranty.

    • “Seasoning” the Ceramic Pot.
      Place the appliance upright on a horizontal, stable, dry, and heat-resistant surface. Damage to the appliance may occur if it is placed on an incline or decline. Holding the Lid Handle, remove the Glass Lid and add rice & water (subsequently, you can add any other food ingredient) to reach about 80% of the height of the Ceramic Pot & replace the lid. Wipe the exterior of the Ceramic Pot dry and place the pot onto the Aluminium Pot.

    • Plug the power cable into the wall socket and switch ON. Turn the ON/OFF Rotary Knob on the Control Panel from ‘OFF’ to ‘FAST STEW’ (subsequently, you can choose between ‘FAST STEW’, ‘SIMMER’, or ‘KEEP WARM’). The red Indicator light will illuminate, and the heating will commence.

    • When the rice & water has become porridge (subsequently other food ingredients can be used), turn the ON/OFF Rotary Knob anti-clockwise to ‘OFF’. The red Indicator light will turn off, and the heating will cease. Turn the wall switch OFF and unplug the power cable from the wall socket before removing the Glass Lid from the Ceramic Pot. Discard the ingredients inside the Ceramic Pot.

    • Be aware that in some instances the appliance would emit a smoky odor after heating, which is caused by the evaporation of insulator materials and insulating oil of heating components. The odor will disappear after 1-2 times of use.

    • Always wear protective, insulated oven gloves when inserting or removing items from the hot appliance.

    • Make sure to remove any label or protective sheet that may prevent its proper functioning.

    • DO NOT:

    • cover the appliance during functioning;

    • insert objects or body parts inside the protection cover of the appliance;

    • obstruct totally or partially the Glass Lid;

    • overfill food & liquid (greater than 80% volume) in the Ceramic Pot to avoid overflow of hot water;

    • add food & liquids into the Aluminium Pot directly. The Aluminium Pot holds the removable Ceramic Pot, and at its bottom, lies the Heating Plate. Please pour food & liquid into the Ceramic Pot.

    • If you need to heat the food quickly, please use hot water (but NOT boiling water) to cook;

    • switch the appliance on if the Ceramic Pot is dry – however, should the pot be found empty during operation, immediately turn the ON/OFF Rotary Knob on the appliance from ‘FAST STEW’, ‘SIMMER’ or ‘KEEP WARM’ to ‘OFF’, switch off the appliance and unplug the power cable from the electric mains. Remove the pot from the appliance but DO NOT add water to the pot as it might crack! Allow the pot to cool naturally;

    • heat the Ceramic Pot by any other means, e.g. heating directly on a gas stove, as the pot can be cracked as a result;

    • subject the Ceramic Pot or Glass Lid to sudden and rapid gain or loss of heat, i.e. DO NOT place the pot/lid into hot /cold water, or very hot pot/lid into cold water suddenly. The large differences in temperature may cause the pot or lid to develop cracks due to forces of expansion & contraction, and such damage will NOT be covered by the warranty;

    • turn the ON/OFF Rotary Knob too forcefully to avoid any damage;

    • leave the appliance unsupervised during operation.

    • During (and immediately after) the period of operation, high-temperature steam may escape from the container. To avoid scalding:

    • DO NOT

    • fill water below 50% & beyond 80% of the maximum volume of the Ceramic Pot;

    • allow all of the water to be boiled away to prolong the life of the appliance;

    • use the appliance without any food items in the Ceramic Pot;

    • heat the Ceramic Pot directly on a stove, Induction Cooker, or microwave oven;

    • place the Ceramic Pot in a refrigerator or freezer, with or without food ingredients inside the pot;

    • remove the Glass Lid while heating & ensure that the lid is tightly closed during heating;

    • add food with its packaging (plastic wrapper, paper, foil, metal can, etc.) still attached without first removing the packaging;

    • place any container inside the appliance;

    • move the appliance whilst the appliance is in operation;

    • remove the Ceramic Pot during heating. Wait until the heating has been completed and the red Indicator light is turned off. Turn the wall switch OFF and unplug the power cable from the wall socket before removing the Glass Lid from the Ceramic Pot;

    • touch any part of the appliance, except the Lid Handle or ON/OFF Rotary Knob when the appliance is hot always wear protective, insulated oven gloves when inserting or removing items from the hot appliance. The bottom of the cooker becomes exceedingly hot as the cooker operates; move the appliance by the Lid Handle and even after the appliance is switched off – extreme caution must be used when moving the appliance containing hot liquids;

    • direct steam at any person or animal & one’s hands and face should be angled away from the rim of the Glass Lid at all times.

  16. During operation, DO NOT touch the appliance with wet body parts, and it is recommended to have between you and the standing surface, an isolating element (for example, wearing shoes with rubber soles).

  17. DO NOT soak the Main Body in water or other liquids, wash it under the tap, or let any liquid flow into the internal casing of the Main Body to prevent electric shock. In case of an accidental fall in the water, DO NOT try to take it out, but immediately switch the wall switches OFF and detach the plug from the wall socket.

  18. Plug and unplug the power cable firmly holding it with dry hands. Always unplug the power cable to avoid overheating and avoid stretching it (DO NOT pull it, tug it, or use it to drag the appliance to which is connected). Before unplugging the appliance, turn the ON/OFF Rotary Knob anti-clockwise to ‘OFF’ and switch the wall switch off

  19. Switch the appliance off when not in use and before placing food items or beverages inside the appliance. Before storing, cleaning, or performing any maintenance operation, leave to cool for at least 30 min.

  20. In case of malfunction or anomaly during the functioning such as smoke coming out of the appliance, switch the wall switch OFF and unplug the power cable from the wall socket.
