Monitoring
WARNING
Be sure to follow your facility’s policies and guidelines for frequency of patient monitoring. Posey recommends that this product be removed at least every two (2) hours to check for skin integrity, proper circulation and range of motion.

Inspection
WARNING
Inspect before each use: check for broken stitches; or torn, cut or frayed material. DO NOT use soiled or damaged products. Clean lint from “hook” material with a stiff brush for a secure application.

Application Instructions

  1. Record the patient’s name on the ID label (Fig. 1).
  2. Release all hook and loop closures.
  3. Gently lower the patient’s foot into the protector (Fig. 2).
  4. Attach the calf straps to the opposing side (Fig. 3). The straps should be applied securely to ensure that the protector cannot be easily removed from the patient’s lower leg.
  5. For foot drop control, criss-cross the upper straps over the patient’s foot and secure them to the top and sides of the protector (Fig. 4) or down the side (Fig. 5).
  6. Use two fingers to ensure there is adequate clearance between the straps and the patient’s foot, and that they are not overtightened (Fig. 6). Place fingers through the heel opening to ensure that the heel is properly isolated (Fig. 7). Adjust straps if necessary.
  7. Securely attach hook side of the wedge to either side of the PRO-heeLx to prevent lateral foot and leg rotation (Fig. 8).
