Only trained service personnel should handle installation, repair, or
servicing. Basic maintenance like cleaning coils and filters can be done by
untrained personnel. Always follow
safety codes and wear appropriate safety gear.
Installation:
- Open compressor access door(s) as shown in the provided figures.
- Locate compressors through the side or end of the unit based on the unit size.
- Wrap the sound blanket around the compressors and tubing in a clockwise direction. Refer to Fig. 4 for guidance on single compressors and tandem compressors.

Q: Can untrained personnel install the sound blanket accessory?
A: Untrained personnel can perform basic maintenance functions like cleaning coils and filters. However, installation of the sound blanket accessory should be done by trained service personnel. -
Q: Can the sound blanket be used with individually sized compressors?
A: The sound blankets included in the kits are designed for compressors within the specified unit sizes and are not intended for individually sized compressors.

- Use quenching cloth for unbrazing operations. Have a fire extinguisher available for all brazing operations.
- It is important to recognize safety information. This is the safety alert symbol.
- When you see this symbol on the unit and in instructions or manuals, be alert to the potential for personal injury.
Understand the signal words DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION, and NOTE. These words are used with the safety-alert symbol. DANGER identifies the most serious hazards which will result in severe personal injury or death. WARNING signifies hazards that could result in personal injury or death. CAUTION is used to identify unsafe practices, which may result in minor personal injury or product and property damage. NOTE is used to highlight suggestions that will result in enhanced installation, reliability, or operation.
WARNING Electrical shock can cause personal injury and death. Shut off all power to this equipment during installation and service. There may be more than one disconnect switch. Tag all disconnect locations to alert others not to restore power until work is completed.
INTRODUCTION
This accessory package is intended for use with 48/50K units. See Table 1 for compressor sound blanket package usage.

NOTE: The above kits include sound blankets designed for the compressors within the unit and are not intended for individually sized compressors.
48/50K INSTALLATION
The 48/50K units use part numbers listed in Table 1.

Open compressor access door(s) as shown in Fig. 1-3.

Locate compressors through side of unit.
- a. For 48/50K 20-35 unit sizes, access through side of unit (see Fig. 1).
- b. For 48/50K 40-50 unit sizes, access through end of unit (see Fig. 2).
- c. For 48/50K 60 unit size, access from end of unit (see Fig. 3).

Wrap the sound blanket around the compressors and tubing in a clockwise direction. See Fig. 4 for single compressors and tandem compressors.

Align the slots in the blanket with the suction tube on the compressor. See Fig. 4 for single compressors and tandem compressors.

Secure the blanket near the suction tube with the hook and loop strip strips. See Fig. 4 for single compressors and tandem compressors.

Wrap the blanket around the compressor terminal box. See Fig. 5 for single compressors and tandem compressors.

Attach the hook and loop seam to secure the blanket to the compressor. See Fig. 5 for single compressors and tandem compressors.

Attach top flap of the blanket with the hook and loop strips while aligning the discharge opening with the discharge line. See Fig. 6 for single compressors and tandem compressors.
NOTE: All wires pass under the blanket. -
Repeat Steps 3 through 8 for the installation of sound blanket to all compressors.
