CONNECTIONS

Never run any wires underneath or outside the vehicle.
NOTE: Be sure to follow specific instructions included with your amplifier installation kit not included with this powered subwoofer). The information below should be used as a general guideline only.

Power Wire (BATT+)

  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal before proceeding. Call 1-800-955-9094 for instructions if you are unsure.
  • Plan wire routing before cutting any wires to length. Begin by routing the power BATT+ wire (10 AWG) from the battery to the subwoofer location . Use a grommet when running wire through the firewall or metal openings. Avoid running the power wire near existing vehicle wiring to prevent induced noise from entering the audio system.
  • Exercise caution when drilling holes to avoid damaging fuel lines or existing vehicle wiring.
  • The BATT+ wire MUST be fused (10-30 A) within 18″ of the battery for protection of the vehicle’s electrical system.

Ground Wire (GND)

  • The subwoofer ‘ s ground wire (10 AWG) should be as short as possible . Choose a clean unpainted section of metal or the vehicle chassis when attaching the ground connection. Be sure to clean the area of any dirt or grease .

Remote and input with a factory radio

  • If you are installing your B- 8P- 120 in a system with a factory radio, leave the Remote In/Out bullet connectors on the blue/white wire together, and the subwoofer will turn itself on when it senses the highlevel signal on its input . Use the included speaker-level adapters to tap into the factory speaker wiring for signal .

Installing with an aftermarket receiver

  • If you ‘ re using line-level RCA signals from an aftermarket receiver, disconnect the bullet connectors and wire the male bullet connector, labeled Remote In, to your receiver’s remote output . Connect the subwoofer’s input to the receiver’s output with RCA cables . If your receiver has dedicated subwoofer outputs, use them .

CONTROLS AND SETUP

GAIN| The GAIN control is used to obtain the best possible match between the receiver ‘ s audio output and the subwoofer input . Begin by turning the input level control fully counterclockwise. Next , turn up the receiver’ s volume control around 3/4 of the way up. Adjust the GAIN control clockwise until audible distortion (buzzing or scratching) is heard, then back slightly counterclockwise to provide the best match .
---|---
BASS EQ| The BASS EQ lets you boost or attenuate the bass level to match your listening preference. Set the BASS EQ at 0dB to start, and increase the level for stronger bass.
PHASE| The PHASE switch compensates for delay between the subwoofer’s output and the rest of the sound system. Set the PHASE switch to whichever position the bass sounds fullest.
CROSSOVER| The CROSSOVER is an adjustable low-pass filter that cuts out frequencies above the point it’s set for . Adjust it to where the subwoofer’s bass sound blends with the rest of the speaker system.
POWER| The POWER LED indicator illuminates green during normal operation.
PROTECT| The PROTECT LED indicator illuminates red when the subwoofer automatically protects itself from overor under- voltage, overheating, and short circuits.
REMOTE LEVEL| Connect the REMOTE LEVEL control to adjust the subwoofer volume remotely.
