Product Usage Instructions
Standard Location Installation:
- Verify that the cable has adequate clearance to reach the Asset Gateway (AG) and the electrical connection.
- Ensure that the AG has a clear view of the sky for optimal cellular and GPS connectivity.
- Avoid installing the device within metallic structures like metal trailers as it can impact connectivity.
- Attach the gateway to the asset using the provided self-drilling screws with a maximum torque of 1.4 Nm (12.4 lbf-in).
- If using your own screws, follow the recommendations for screw size to prevent damage to the device mounting tabs.
Hazardous Location Installation:
- Attach the mounting plate with included self-drilling screws to the mounting surface.
- Assemble the Asset Gateway and cover with the cable plugged in. Fasten with the included machine screws.
- Wire the included 2A fuses between the cable and power source(s) following safety precautions.
Trailer Installation:
- Connect the cable to the 7-way connector on the trailer.
- Confirm wire colors and labels as they may vary by manufacturer.
Powered Equipment Installation:
- Wire the Input 0 wire to key-on power or any signal for tracking usage.
- Follow the wire colour guide provided for different power sources.
After connecting the Asset Gateway to power, verify the connection in the Samsara Dashboard. The LED will turn green upon successful connection.

Activate your Asset Gateway. This can be completed on the Samsara Dashboard or on the Samsara Fleet App. You can also follow the link in your Order Shipped email.

When selecting a location for your device, reference the following tips:
-
Verify that the cable has adequate clearance to reach the AG and the electrical connection. Ensure that the AG has a clear view of the sky. Avoidinstalling the device within metallic structures, such as within metal trailers.

Placement in such structures may adversely impact device cellular and GPS connectivity.

Attach the gateway to the asset using the provided #6 self-drilling screws with maximum torque of 1.4 Nm (12.4 lbf-in). If you choose to fasten the device with your own screws, use these recommendations for screw size to avoid damage to the device mounting tabs.

If you are installing at a hazardous location, use the following recommendations:
Attach the mounting plate with included self-drilling screws to the mounting surface. With cable plugged in, assemble the Asset Gateway and cover. Fasten with the two included machine screws. Wire the included 2A fuses between cable and power source(s).
WARNING — EXPLOSION HAZARD. DO NOT CONNECT OR DISCONNECT WHEN ENERGIZED. DO NOT DISCONNECT WHILE THE CIRCUIT IS LIVE OR UNLESS THE AREA IS FREE OF IGNITIBLE CONCENTRATIONS. -
When installing on a trailer, connect the cable to the 7-way connector . Confirm wire colors and labels as they may vary by manufacturer.

If connecting to a different power source, follow the wire color guide below:

WHITE — GROUND

BROWN — POWER (RUNNING LIGHTS)

BLUE — POWER (ABS) GREEN-WHITE — INPUT (OPTIONAL)

For a powered equipment installation, wire the “Input 0” wire to key-on power or any signal where you would like to track usage.
Follow the wire color guide below: -

GREEN -WHITE — IGNITION BROWN — POWER (RUNNING LIGHTS) (OPTIONAL)

After you connect the Asset Gateway to power, verify the connection in the Samsara Dashboard. After a successful connection, the LED will turn green

Do not install or adjust hardware while driving or operating the vehicle. Do not install this hardware in a location that could interfere with the driver’s visibility or operation of vehicle controls. Do not install this hardware on or near airbag panels or within the working range of an airbag.

Do not install hardware while the vehicle is unsecured. Do not install hardware while the vehicle is turned on unless instructed to turn on the vehicle by the installation guide. Failure to follow installation instructions may cause serious physical injury, damage to the vehicle or the hardware, and void vehicle or other third-party product warranties.

Batteries in the hardware may have a shorter life span if not used in accordance with instructions. Do not short circuit, crush, disassemble, heat above 60°C/140°F, incinerate, or expose the battery or its contents to water. Do not remove the battery from the hardware to recharge or for any other reason, including disposal. Do not solder directly to the battery cell. Do not use it if the battery appears damaged.

This product includes capacitors and batteries which may present a potential fire, explosion, electric shock, or burn hazard. Do not touch or come into close proximity to any capacitors within this hardware.

Keep this hardware between -40°C/-40°F to 60°C/140°F externally powered, -20°C/-4°F to 60°C/140°F discharging on battery,
0°C/32°F to 45°C/113°F charging. Failure to keep this hardware in the specified temperature range may result in safety risks. -
Failure to follow mounting instructions may create risk of physical injury or property damage from falling objects. If mounting the hardware to a building wall, check for wiring or plumbing before drilling any holes.

After installation, this product will be able to charge batteries at any moment.
