Install Tips and System Diagram
HD Camera Connector (AHD1) has one 4-pin GX12 Male Video In (CAM) connector
and one 4-pin GX12 Female Video Out (DISPLAY) connector. You may need to
supply appropriate cables and adapters for your third-party system.
If you have questions, reach out to your Samsara contact.

Connect the Samsara vehicle gateway to your vehicle’s diagnostic port using the provided cable.

Mount the vehicle gateway in the vehicle. The vehicle gateway must be mounted rigidly in order to get the “harsh events” detection feature.

Attach analog video signal from camera system to HD camera connector.
If this vehicle only has one camera, connect video directly to HD camera connector.

(Optional) Multiplexer
If this install includes a multiplexer, plug all cameras into the multiplexer first. Then attach multiplexer to video input.

(Optional) Display/DVR
If this install includes a display or DVR, attach “DISPLAY” output of HD camera connector to video input of display/DVR.
Where possible, always attach camera directly to HD camera connector. Adding other devices between camera HD camera connector may prevent HD camera connector from receiving video signal while in parking mode.

Mount HD camera connector to vehicle using included zip ties. For best thermal performance, ensure Samsara logo faces outward.
IMPORTANT: Do not bundle vehicle gateway and HD camera connector together. Risk of reduced thermal and antenna performance for both devices.

Connect USB cables from the CM dashcam and HD camera connector to the gateway.

IMPORTANT: Secure all connectors using heat shrink or electrical tape, and attach firmly to vehicle.
Failure to secure connectors may cause poor video quality.

Verify installation by taking a picture from Samsara dashboard.
First, ensure all items are wired correctly and powered on. Ensure HD camera connector is activated.
Go to the vehicle page in the dashboard, click the settings icon, and click “Check Dash Cam Installation” to take a picture.
Video feed from third party camera will appear in the section labelled “AUXCAM”
To rotate or mirror camera images, go to Settings>Devices
