PEDROLLO 3SR Borehole Pumps Submersible Motors

INSTRUCTION MANUAL

These pumps are recommended for pumping clean water.
They must be used in compliance with local laws.
Before installation and use read the following instructions carefully.
The manufacturer declines all responsibility in the event of accident or damage due to negligence or failure to observe the instructions described in this booklet or in conditions that differ from those indicated on the rating plate.
It also declines all responsibility for damage caused by improper use of the water pump.
When storing, do not pile weights or other boxes on top.

SAFETY

Before carrying out checks or doing any maintenance, de-energize the system by disconnecting the voltage and unplug the pump from the socket.
Before installing the water pump, make sure that the power supply mains is earthed and complies with regulations.
They are not suitable for pumping inflammable liquids or for operating in places where there is danger of explosion.
Avoid contact between the power supply and the liquid to be pumped.
Do not modify the components of the water pump.
The water pump must never be lifted or transported by its supply cable.
The standard EN 60335-2-41 sets out what follows:

  1. the pump used for cleaning and other swimming pool maintenance purposes should not be used   when there are people in the pool and must be operated through a residual current device IRCDI with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA.
  2. the pump for outdoor fountains, garden ponds and similar places must be supplied through a residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA.
  3. for pumps meant to be used in swimming pools and pumps to be used for outdoor use the supply cord should not be any lighter than “H07 RN-F” (245 IEC 66 denomination).

The appliance is not to be used by children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

PRELIMINARY INSPECTION

Unpack and check that it is in perfect condition.
Also check that the data on the rating plate correspond to the required data.
If there is any problem contact the supplier immediately, specifying the type of fault.
CAUTION: if there is any doubt about the safety of the machine, do not use it.

CONDITIONS OF USE

  • The following conditions must be observed when using the water pump:
  • Maximum fluid temperature: + 35°C.
  • Maximum density of the liquid pumped: 1 kg/dm3.
  • pH of the liquid: 6÷8.
  • Voltage variation allowed: ±5% (in the case of single-phase voltage 220÷240 V and three-phase voltage 380÷415 V, these are the permitted limit values).
  • Protection index: lP X8
  • Maximum sand content: 150 g/m3 (100 g/m3 4HR, 6SR, 6HR, 6ST), (200 g/m3 4BLOCK, 4SR-F, 4SR-S).
  • Max n° of starts per hour: 20.
  • Maximum immersion depth: (60m PRO 100AR, SALI), (60m PRO 100AR, SALI), (100 m 3SR, 4BLOCK), (150 m 6SR-6PSR, 6HR-6PSR, 6ST-6PSR),(200 m 4SR-4PD, 4HR-4PD, 6SR-6PD, 6HR-6PD, 6ST-6PD), (300 m 4SR-4PS, 4HR-4PS).

INSTALLATION

Installation can be a fairly complex operation.
It must therefore be carried out by competent and authorized installers.
CAUTION: during installation apply all safety regulations issued by the competent authorities and use common sense at all times.
Do not underestimate the risk of drowning if the installation has to be performed in a well at a certain depth.

Make sure there are no toxic discharges or harmful gases present in the atmosphere.
If the installation involves welding, take all necessary precautions to avoid explosions.
Check that the well is large enough to contain the pump.
Check the characteristics of the water to be pumped.
Also check for any debris or sand concentration higher than the permitted value.
Fix the power supply cable to the delivery pipe so that it cannot be twisted.
Allow for expansion of the delivery pipe by leaving a little slack between the clamps.
If the delivery pipe is made of plastic, support the pump with a suitable rope hooked to the holes in the delivery outlet.
Install probes which will cut off the pump power supply before the water level drops to a level that leaves the pump exposed.
CAUTION: dry operation of the pump will cause serious damage to the pump.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS

CAUTION: it is the installer’s responsibility to perform the connections in compliance with the regulations in force in the country of installation.
Make sure that there is no voltage at the line wire terminals before connecting.
Check that the data on the rating plate corresponds to the rated line values.
Connect up the pump (making sure that there is an efficient earth circuit) according to the wiring diagram affixed to the electric motor.
For single-phase motors (3SR, 4SR, 4HR, 4PD, 4PS) the black cable is common (live), the blue (or grey) one is the main phase (neutral), the brown cable is the auxiliary phase and the yellow-green one is the earth.
Have the electrical cables joined by skilled personnel to guarantee perfect insulation.
The earth wire must be longer than the live wires, and must be the first wire to be connected when the pump is being set up and the last to be disconnected during uninstallation.
If a pump is not equipped with a supply cord and a plug, the power supply network should include a cut-off device or system having a contact separation of at least 3 mm in all poles.
It is advisable to install a residual current device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA.
Fit a thermal overload cutout in the PEDROLLO control panel to protect the motors.
For three-phase motors the rotation direction may be inverted; in this case performance is much lower than the rated values.
To invert the direction of rotation simply invert two of the phases.
CAUTION: never operate the pump dry to check the direction of rotation.

MAINTENANCE

Before any intervention, make sure that the pump is disconnected from the power source and that there is no possibility of accidental connections.
Repair of the pump by personnel not authorized by the manufacturer will render the guarantee null and void and will entail operating with potentially dangerous equipment.
CAUTION: any tampering may lead to performance being reduced and danger to persons and/or things.
The pumps do not require any maintenance.
