Assembly

Assemble the grill in a level, clean area free of objects that could obstruct the assembly. It is essential to have two people involved in the assembly process. Only use the grill after it has been fully assembled.
The assembly of the grill should be performed carefully by adults. Wear protective gloves when unpacking and assembling the components since some may have sharp edges.
Thoroughly unpack all parts included in the package. It’s advisable to have a second person assist you, as some components of the training device are bulky and heavy.
Prior to beginning each assembly step, ensure that all fastening materials (screws, nuts, etc.) and components are complete.
Conduct the assembly with care, as any damage or defects resulting from assembly errors are not covered by the warranty or guarantee under any circumstances. Hence, it’s important to read the instructions carefully before starting the assembly process. Follow the sequence of assembly steps precisely and adhere to the instructions provided for each individual assembly step.
To facilitate the assembly steps, hand-tighten all screws during the respective assembly step. Only tighten the screws after completing the current assembly step. Liquid Gas Handling Instructions

GENERAL NOTE:
Like fuels and natural gas, propane and butane, which are used for gas grills, are petrochemical products. These liquefied gases are gases that have been compressed and cooled to remain in liquid form (e.g., propane/butane in camping gas cylinders). When the valve on the gas bottle is opened, the pressure is released, causing the liquid to immediately evaporate and become a gas.

Notes

  • Liquid gas has a similar smell to natural gas. You should be familiar with this odor to recognize gas leaks immediately.
  • LPG is heavier than oxygen and can collect on the ground without dispersing. For this reason, you should never use liquid gas below ground level, such as in sinks or basements.
  • LPG cylinders must always be transported, stored, and used in an upright position. When using a liquid gas cylinder with a gas grill, it must also be kept upright.
  • LPG cylinders may only be stored and used in areas where the temperature does not exceed 50°C.
  • LPG cylinders must not be dropped and should always be handled with care during transportation, storage, and use. Therefore, it is essential to secure stored, used, and transported gas cylinders to prevent accidental dropping, etc.
  • Never use damaged, rusted, or dented gas cylinders, or cylinders with defective valves. These pose a significant danger and must be replaced immediately with new gas cylinders.
  • Always handle empty gas cylinders with the same care as new or full gas cylinders, as there may still be gas under pressure in the gas bottle.

Connecting the Gas Bottle

CAUTION: Perform the following steps outdoors in a well-ventilated area only when the grill has completely cooled down. If you’ve recently used the grill, ensure it has cooled down completely before connecting a gas bottle to avoid the risk of burns.
To connect the gas bottle, you will need the following items:

  • A 17 open-end spanner (not included).
  • A pressure regulator (not included). Use only tested pressure regulators with a maximum rating of 1.5 kg/h and an operating pressure of 50 mbar.
  • A gas bottle (not included). You can purchase commercially available gas bottles with a filling weight of 5 or 11 kg from specialist gas retailers or DIY stores

  • Make sure that the grill is secure and stable and that the transport wheels are blocked to prevent accidental movement.

  • Position the gas bottle (A) next to the grill – never in or underneath the grill. Only use the gas bot-tle standing up – never lay it down. Make sure that the gas bottle is standing securely.

  • MAXXUS-0063-23-Gas-Grill- \(18\)Connect the gas hose (I) of the pressure regulator to the grill’s connection. Use a suitable open-end spanner to securely tighten the connection.

  • Remove the protective cap (D) from the valve thread (C) on the gas cylinder.
CAUTION : The gas bottle thread (C) is a left-hand thread, so the protective cap must be unscrewed clockwise.

  • Hand-tighten the cap nut (E) of the pressure regulator (F) onto the valve thread (C) counterclock-wise. Do not use tools like pliers for this step, as it may damage the cylinder seal and lead to gas leakage.

  • Ensure that the cap nut of the gas hose (H) is securely connected to the connection thread (G) of the pressure regulator. Tighten the cap nut (H) firmly with a 17 mm open-end spanner.

  • Open the gas cylinder valve (B) and perform the gas leakage test as described below.

  • Close the gas cylinder valve (B) if you do not intend to use the grill immediately.

Disconnecting the Gas Bottle

  • Close the gas bottle valve (B).
  • Remove the cap nut (E) from the pressure regulator (F) by unscrewing it clockwise by hand.
  • Pull the pressure regulator (F) off the valve thread (C) of the gas bottle.
  • Secure the valve thread (C) of the gas bottle with the protective cap (D).

Gas Leak Test
Before using the appliance for the first time, after a long period of non-use, or if you notice a gas smell, be sure to conduct a comprehensive leak test on all gas pipes and connections. You have two options for this:

  1. Use a leak detection agent available in specialized shops (ensure you follow the operating instructions for the leak detector.)

  2. Perform a soap test.
To conduct this test, you’ll need a connected gas bottle. Follow these steps:

    • Mix water with washing-up liquid in a 1:1 ratio and fill this soapy water into a clean, empty spray bottle. Ensure all the grill knobs are set to “OFF” or “-”.
    • Open the valve on the gas bottle.
    • Spray the soapy water on all gas connections, gas lines of the gas grill, the gas bottle, and the pressure regulator.
    • Check for the presence of any bubbles.

In case of bubble formation

  • Close the gas bottle valve and set the control knob to “OFF” or “-”.
  • Tighten any leaking fittings.
  • Replace any defective gas pipes or hoses.
  • Repeat the soap test.

If, even after replacing defective gas pipes or hoses and tightening the fittings, you are still unable to prevent gas from escaping, please contact our customer service.

WARNING: Operating the gas grill with a leaking gas supply is strictly prohibited.

Igniting the Main Burner

Before using the grill, ensure

  • Strict adherence to all safety instructions in this manual.

  • Be cautious as there may be sharp corners and edges inside the grill. It’s advisable to wear safety gloves for added protection.
  • Disconnect the gas bottle from the grill before beginning the cleaning process.

Cleaning
Clean all the fixed components of the grill with a solution of light soapy water (detergent + water) and a lint-free cloth. Remove the grease tray and the grease collector (if present) and clean them thoroughly. Dry all the cleaned components completely. If necessary, clean the grill grates with soapy water and then allow them to dry thoroughly. Never put the grates in the dishwasher! Dry the grates well and then apply a highly heat-resistant cooking oil to prevent flash rust. You can remove any residue from the last BBQ by burning it off the grill, then use the grill brush and a cloth if necessary to remove any remaining residue. Be cautious; the grill is very hot! Use suitable grill gloves!
Never use oven cleaner, ‘harsh’ cleaning agents, or alcohol! These can severely damage the grill’s coatings.
If you’re not using the grill for an extended period after cleaning, allow it to dry completely for at least 8 hours. Keep all lids, doors, and covers open during this time.

Cleaning and Visual Inspection of the Burners

  • Set all knobs to the “-” (OFF) position. Close the valve on the gas bottle and remove the gas bottle.
  • Carefully clean the burners with a soft brush, and consider using pipe cleaners to clean the openings of the burners.

Grilling Tips

  • Meat from the Fridge
Do not use meat straight from the fridge because it’s all too easy for grilled food to end up undercooked on the inside and overcooked on the outside.

  • Salting – Before or After Grilling?
It’s a well-known fact that salt draws liquid out of the meat. Therefore, you shouldn’t leave the meat in a brine for too long. However, you can salt the meat about twenty minutes before grilling without any issues. To prevent herbs from burning, add them just before the end of the grilling process.

  • Wood Chips for Smoking
Those who grill with charcoal are often familiar with hardwood chips soaked in whiskey or coffee, for example. Wood chips are used to impart a smoky flavor to grilled food. If you have a gas grill, you can place the soaked wood chips in an aluminum tray above one of the burners. With the lid closed, the flavored smoke reaches every part of the grill. Suitable wood chips are available from specialist retailers. Do not use wood treated with paint or wood preservatives!Winter Barbecue or Snow Barbecue
Barbecuing in winter, even in the snow and ice, is no problem with the MAXXUS gas grill. However, the gas bottle should be stored frost-free and only connected shortly before barbecuing. When cleaning the grill, it’s better not to use water and instead use the burn-out method, as water could freeze in sub-zero temperatures. Of course, it takes a little longer for the grill to reach the necessary temperature for grilling. But barbecuing in the snow is a lot of fun and has many supporters. After grilling, be sure to store the grill in a dry place.

  • Meat Sticking to the Grate
If meat sticks to the grate, low temperature is usually to blame. The grate must be well heated before placing meat on it. Coating the meat with a little oil beforehand will prevent it from sticking as quickly. However, you should only use oils that can withstand high temperatures, such as rapeseed oil.

  • Indirect Grilling
Indirect grilling is very easy in a gas grill. Place the food to be grilled on the sides and light only the middle burner. Then close the lid and monitor the cooking temperature with the thermometer. The food is now cooked as if it were in an oven.

To maintain your entitlement to service within the warranty period, please keep proof of purchase or invoice. In the event of a warranty claim, send us a copy of the proof of purchase as an attachment to your repair order/damage report without needing a specific request. This will expedite the processing of your service case. For us to clearly identify your model version, we require the product name, serial number, and date of purchase for service.

  • Warranty Terms and Conditions
The warranty period for your gas grill begins on the date of purchase and is applicable only to products pur-chased directly from MAXXUS Group GmbH & Co. KG or an authorized sales partner. The warranty covers manufacturing or material defects and is valid for devices purchased in Germany. It does not cover damage or defects resulting from improper use, intentional or negligent destruction, inadequate maintenance or cleaning, force majeure, normal wear and tear, liquid damage, or the repair or modification of non-original spare parts. The warranty also excludes faulty assembly or damage resulting from incorrect assembly.
Some components are susceptible to wear and tear through regular use, and signs of wear on these parts are not covered by the warranty. If your gas grill requires collection for repair, disassembly, provision, re-ceipt, and reassembly are necessary, and generally not included in the warranty. In the case of individual parts, please pack the defective components securely and send them to our service address after making prior arrangements.

The MAXXUS service team is of course also available to help you solve problems if cases of a defect occur after the end of the warranty, or cases that are not covered by the warranty. In such a case, please contact us directly by email:

Please be aware that additional fastening materials, such as screws and washers, are not included with indi-vidual spare parts and should be ordered separately.
