Installation Requirements

WARNING
Prior to installation, ensure the local distribution conditions (nature of the gas and gas pressure) and the adjustment of the appliance are compatible. The adjustment conditions for this appliance are stated on the label or data plate. This appliance is not connected to a combustion products evacuation device. It shall be installed and connected in accordance with current installation regulations. Particular attention shall be given to the relevant requirements regarding ventilation. Refer to the dimensions provided in this guide, if ventilation installation  specifications differ.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When installing against a combustible surface, a minimum 254 mm riser is required for a 914 mm range with chargrill or griddle/teppanyaki and all 1219 mm and 1524 mm models. Follow all minimum clearances to combustible surfaces shown in the installation illustration on page 6.

Electrical Requirements
Installation must comply with all applicable electrical codes and be properly grounded (earthed).

Locate the electrical supply flush with the wall or floor and within the shaded area shown in the installation illustration on page 6. A separate circuit servicing only this appliance is required.

If a power supply cord is used, the cord must be designated for use with ranges and rated for 240 V, 30 or 50 amps (refer to the chart below), and must include 3 or 4 conductors.

Performance may be compromised if the electrical supply is less than 240 volts.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Connection of this appliance should be through a fused connection unit or a suitable isolator, which complies with national and local safety regulations. The on/off switch should be easily accessible after the appliance has been installed. If the switch is not accessible after installation (depending on country) an additional means of disconnection must be provided for all poles of the power supply. When switched off there must be an all-pole contact gap of 3 mm in the isolator switch. This 3 mm contact disconnect gap must apply to any isolator switch, fuses and/or relays according to EN60335.

Gas Supply

Installation must conform with local codes.

Locate the gas supply within the shaded area shown in the installation illustration on page 6.

The range is equipped for use with natural or liquid propane (LP) gas. The product rating plate has information on the type of gas that should be used. For rating plate location, refer to the illustration below. If this information does not agree with the type of gas available, check with the local gas supplier. The gas pressure regulator is built into the unit.

  • Surface Burners: 4.5 kW (319 g/h) .3 kW (21 g/h) simmer
  • Surface Burner: 2.7 kW (191 g/h) .1 kW (7 g/h) simmer
  • Chargrill: 4.5 kW (319 g/h)
  • Griddle/Teppanyaki: 4.5 kW (319 g/h)

Rating plate location

Gas Supply

The range must be connected to a regulated gas supply.
The supply line must be equipped with an approved external gas shut-off valve located near the range in an accessible location. Do not block access to the shut-off valve. Refer to the illustration below.

A compatible ISO 7-1 gas inlet thread is provided on all units. Contact your local Wolf dealer if an ISO 228-1 or other gas inlet thread is required. Pipe joint compounds, suitable for use with LP gas should be used. For LP gas, piping or tubing size can be 13 mm minimum. LP gas suppliers usually determine the size and materials used on the system. Gas connection at rear of the appliance is 1/2″ BSP.

If local codes permit, a flexible metal appliance connector is recommended for connecting this range to the gas supply line. Do not kink or damage the flexible connector when moving the range.

If rigid pipe is used as a gas supply line, a combination of pipe fittings must be used to obtain an in-line connection to the range. All strains must be removed from the supply and gas lines so the range will be level and in line.

The appliance and its shut-off valve must be disconnected from the gas supply piping system during any pressure testing of the system at test pressures in excess of .5 psi (3.5 kPa). The appliance must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by closing its individual manual shutoff valve during any pressure testing of the system at test pressures equal to or less than .5 psi (3.5 kPa).

Wolf natural gas ranges will function up to 3124 m in altitude without adjustment and LP gas ranges will function up to 2621 m.

Note: This appliance is fitted with an internal regulator the operating pressure is Natural – 0.8 kpa / Propane – 2.5kpa
The regulator is preset at the factory and should not require adjustment. If required refer to Access to TPP appendix supplied with this manual.
Commissioning Procedure – Set the 2 x Semi rapid and 1 x Auxiliary to high and adjust regulator to 0.8kpa for Natural Gas and 2.5kpa for Propane.

Installation

Dual Fuel Range INSTALLATION

Installation

*Without ventilation hood, 914 mm minimum clearance countertop to combustible materials, 1118 mm for charbroiler.
NOTE: Shaded area above countertop indicates minimum clearance to combustible surfaces.
Combustible materials cannot be located within this area.
For island installation, 305 mm minimum clearance back of range to combustible rear wall above countertop.

Australia Only
Note – A minimum of clearance of 1200mm is required from the Char Grill Burner to the filter of the range-hood.
The recommended minimum height from the pan support to the underside of the Range-hood is 650mm unless the rangehood manufacturer specifies a height greater than 650mm

Preparation

Before moving the range, protect any finished flooring and secure the oven door(s) closed to prevent damage.

OVEN DOOR REMOVAL

To lighten the load or to fit through a doorway, the oven door(s) can be removed. Remove only if necessary. Do not remove the griddle/teppanyaki or any other component. Door removal should be done only by a certified installer or service technician. Do not lift or carry the oven door by the door handle.

To remove, open the door completely. Rotate both hinge locks forward to the open position, remove the screw closest to the hinge on both sides of the door, and pull the door forward. Refer to the illustration below.

To reinstall, slide the door onto the hinges. Rotate the hinge locks back completely and install the screws

Placement

The range has rear casters, which allow for easy movement by lifting the front of the unit. Do not lift or carry the range by the oven door handle.

Use an appliance dolly to move the range near the opening. Place the appliance dolly on the side or back to prevent damage. Remove and recycle packing materials. Do not discard the anti-tip bracket supplied with the range.

If a riser has been specified, refer to the installation instructions packaged with the riser. The riser must be installed before the range is installed.

Oven door removal

Leveling

Raise the range to its desired height by adjusting the front legs and rear casters. Use a 3/4″ socket to adjust the rear casters. The front legs can be adjusted by rotating the legclockwise to raise and counterclockwise to lower.

IMPORTANT NOTE: For 1219 mm and 1524 mm models, equally distribute the load to all three front legs and rear casters.

Anti-Tip Bracket

To prevent the range from tipping forward, the anti-tip bracket must be installed. To ensure the anti-tip bolt engages the bracket, refer to the illustration below to determine proper placement.

INSTALL BRACKET

Drywall application: After properly positioning the anti-tip bracket, mark the holes, then use a Phillips screwdriver or a low rpm power drill to drive the wall anchor into the surface of the wallboard until flush. Pre-drill the holes if needed. For hard wallboard or double-board construction, use a 1/4″ drill bit. For solid plaster, use a 7/16″ drillbit.
Use the provided #8 screws and flat washers to fasten the bracket to the wall.

Wood floor application: After properly positioning the antitip bracket, drill 5 mm pilot holes through the floor. Use the provided #12 screws and flat washers to secure the bracket to the floor.

Concrete floor application: After properly positioning the anti-tip bracket, drill 10 mm holes into the concrete a minimum of 38 mm deep. Use the provided 3/8″ wedge anchors to secure the bracket to the floor.

Electrical Connection

The terminal block on the back of the range allows for a single phase or 3-phase installation. Remove the terminal block cover to expose the screws with corresponding numbers. Route the wires through the strain relief and to the terminal block

SINGLE PHASE INSTALLATION

  1. Move the bridge to positions two and three. Refer to the illustrations below.
  2. Connect ground to position one.
  3. Connect neutral to position two.
  4. Connect L1 to position four.
  5. Tighten the screws on the strain relief and install the terminal block cover

3-PHASE INSTALLATION

  1. Move the bridge to positions two and three. Refer to the illustrations below.
  2. Connect ground to position one.
  3. Connect neutral to position two.
  4. Remove the two metal bridges from positions four, five, and six. Refer to the illustration below.
  5. Connect L1 to position six.
  6. Connect L2 to position five.
  7. Connect L3 to position four.
  8. Tighten the screws on the strain relief and install the terminal block cover.

Gas Supply Connection

All connections to the gas piping must be wrench-tightened. Do not overtighten or allow pipes to turn when tightening.

If a flexible metal connector is used, verify it is not kinked, then attach the gas supply line to the gas inlet on the range. Open the valve and check for leaks by placing a liquid detergent solution onto all gas connections. Bubbles around the connections indicate a gas leak. If a leak appears, close the shut-off valve and adjust the connections.

Door Alignment

To adjust the door, follow these steps:

  1. Remove the skirt by extracting the screws.
  2. Open the door, and loosen the nut. Refer to the illustration below.
  3. Close the door, and turn the screw clockwise to raise and counterclockwise to lower the door.
  4. Open the door, and tighten the nut.
  5. Close the door, and reinstall the skirt.

Verify operation after installation:

  • All packaging material has been removed.
  • All specified clearances have been maintained.
  • Each burner ignites individually.
  • All flames appear normal.
  • The unit has been tested for gas leaks.

Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the range does not operate properly, follow these troubleshooting steps

  • Verify electrical power is supplied to the range.
  • Verify the gas supply shut-off valve is in the open position.
  • If the range does not operate properly, contact Wolf Factory Certified Service. Do not attempt to repair the range. Wolf is not responsible for service required to correct a faulty installation.
