Product Usage Instructions

Mounting Instructions:

  1. Put the motorcycle on a work stand so that the front wheel barely touches the ground. Ensure stability.
  2. Remove the front wheel following the motorcycle service manual instructions.
  3. Untighten screw (1), (2), (3) to remove plastic cover A and untighten shock absorber lower mounting screws (4), (5).
  4. Remove the standard shock absorber by loosening cover screws (4), (5) and top mounting screws (6), (7).
  5. Remove the brake line hose clamp B.
  6. Remove the top plate from the standard shock absorber by loosening the nut (9). Top plate assembly.
  7. Install the new shock absorber in reverse order. Tighten the nut (9) as per Vespa service manual instructions.
  8. Loosen the brake line banjo bolt (10) and adjust its position. Tighten at specified torque value.
  9. Tighten top plate mounting screws (11), (12) and lower mounting screws (13), (14) at specified torque values.

Adjustments:

Spring Preload Adjuster: DO NOT LOOSEN (not an adjuster)

    • Spring rate: [13-34]N/mm

A: If you notice oil or grease leakage, simply wipe off the excessive oil/grease with a cloth. This does not affect the product’s performance.

MOUNTING MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS

Warning!
It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer install the shock absorber.

Warning!
If working on a raised vehicle, ensure it is securely supported so that it will not tip over.

Note!
When working on this product, always see the Vehicle Service Manual for vehicle-specific procedures and important data.

Caution!
Make sure that all screws are tightened to the correct torque and that nothing fouls or restricts movement of the shock absorber when the suspension is fully compressed or extended.

  1. Put the motorcycle on a work stand so that the front wheel barely touches the ground. Make sure the motorcycle is in a stable position.

  2. Remove the front wheel as per motorcycle service manual instructions.

  3. Untighten the screw (1), (2), (3) in order to remove the plastic cover A.
    Untighten the shock absorber lower mounting screws (4), (5).

  4. Remove the standard shock absorber by loosening the 2 cover screw (4), (5) and the 2 top mounting screws (6), (7).

  5. Remove the brake line hose clamp B

  6. Remove the top plate from the standard shock absorber by loosening the nut (9).

  7. Install the standard top plate onto the Öhlins shock absorber in the same order. Tighten the nut (9) at a torque value as specified in the Vespa service manual instruction.

  8. Loosen the brake line banjo bolt (10) and adjust its position so that it dosn’t interfere with the Öhlins shock absorber.
    Torque at value as specified in the Vespa service manual.

    It is recommendable to service the motorcycle front braking system after performing the operation 8

  9. Install the Öhlins shock absorber by:
    Tighten the top plate mounting screws (11), (12) at a torque value as per Vespa service manual instructions.

Tighten the lower mounting screws (13) and (14) at 24 Nm. Use threadlocker
(Eg. Loctite) to secure the screws.

  1. Install the bracket (15) and the plastic cover following the diagram 1.
    Re-install the hose clamp onto the Öhlins bracket.

  1. Reverse all the procedures as necessary
