Installation Instructions

Receiving the Shipment

If this is your first time setting up the Elemental Machines
system, you will receive an email for your dashboard account
verification. Save this email for when the devices arrive.
When devices arrive, carefully remove the contents from the
packaging. If any of the contents look damaged, please send a
picture to help@elementalmachines.com.
Confirm the Element-Ds in your package are labeled with the
assets to which they are to connect. If the labels do not match the
intended assets for connection, please contact
help@elementalmachines.com.

1. If this is your first time setting up the Elemental Machines system, you will receive an email for your dashboard account verification. Save this email for when the devices arrive.

Element-D Initial Power-up
4. Move the Element-D for the asset into a dashboard group on the Elemental InsightsTM Dashboard. The device status on the dashboard will be listed as `disconnected’.
5. Plug the Element-D in using the provided power supply. 6. Complete Wi-Fi Connection following instructions in the provided 771-00010 Wi-Fi Connection Guide – Gateway
GW2/3, Element-C/D. a. 771-00010 is included with your Element-D as a printed copy. Digital versions of this are available in the
Support section of the Elemental InsightsTM Dashboard.
Attaching Connection Cable to Asset
7. Locate the RS232 data port on the balance. This will be on the back of the display terminal, and you may need to detach the display from the weight plate unit. See Figure 1 for details.

8. Plug the RS232 end of the Connection Cable shown in Figure 2 into the data port on the balance.

9. Plug the USB end of the Connector Cable into any of the four USB ports (circled in Figure 3) on the Element-D.

10. Press the orange power button to turn on the balance.
11. Press the Menu button.
12. Scroll down and then select the Communication button.
13. Press RS-232 Standard.

14. Press Device Settings.

15. Press Baud Rate, and then 9600. Close out of the Baud rate selection window.

16. Press Transmission, and then 8 None 1. Close out of the Transmission selection window. 17. Press Handshake, and then None. Close out of the Handshake Selection window. 18. Press Back.

19. Press Print Settings. 20. Press Print Content.

21. Set all parameters under the Print Content menu to OFF except: · Gross = ON · Net = ON · Tare = ON
22. Press Back. 23. Press Layout from the Print Setting menu.
24. Press Format and set it to Multiple Lines. 25. Press Done. 26. Press Menu to enter the Main Menu.

27. Press Application Modes and then Weighing.

28. Press Reference and then set Gross, Net, and Tare to On. 29. Press Done to return to the main weighing display.
Positioning the Element-D
30. Determine where the Element-D should be placed to allow for power access and a tidy connection cable. 31. Securely position the Element-D in the chosen location. The Element-D has magnets which make it easily mountable
to magnetic surfaces. a. Note: If applicable, an adhesive metal mounting plate available from EM may be used.
Finalization
32. The scale must be Tared to print all three data values. To do so, place a weight on the weighing plate and then press the TARE button (circled in Figure 4 ) on the balance. (The balance cannot be tared with a zero weight.)

33. To send a weight measurement to the Elemental InsightsTM Dashboard, press the PRINT button (circled in Figure 5) on the balance.

34. Confirm that the values appear on the dashboard. (The dashboard may only display two digits after the decimal point. However, transfer to any third party platforms will include the full value.).
35. If the dashboard does not display any value, check cable connection and menu settings. Contact help@elementalmachines.com if problem persists.
36. Contact third-party vendor for next steps regarding communication to the external platform (if applicable).
