Product Information

• The Super Record Rear Derailleur is a component of the Super Record WL groupset.
• It operates on a frequency band of 2402-2480 MHz with a maximum transmitted power of +8.5dBm.

Product Usage Instructions

Battery Insertion and Activation
Before the initial use, fully charge the rechargeable battery until all LEDs turn off (Fig.3).
Refer to Fig.3 for battery insertion and activation instructions.

Powering On the Rear Derailleur with Inserted Battery Follow the provided steps to power on the rear derailleur with the inserted battery.

Powering Off the Rear Derailleur The rear derailleur will automatically power off after 30 minutes of inactivity or no vibration.

Rear Derailleur Behavior during Power On When powered on, the rear derailleur LED will turn on in blue color and flash rapidly to establish connections:

• If it connects to all other components, the blue LED will flash slowly, indicating proper functioning.
• If it only connects to the Ergopower controls but not the derailleur, the rear derailleur will still function, but the blue LED will flash rapidly. Turn on the derailleur as well.
• If it connects to the derailleur but not the right Ergopower control, the rear derailleur will not function, and the blue LED will flash rapidly. Turn on the right Ergopower control.

UNCOUPLED DERAILLEUR WITH DERAILLEUR AND ERGOPOWER CONTROLS

If the rear derailleur LED remains steadily blue, coupling the derailleur with other components is required. Contact a Campagnolo Pro-Shop or a mechanic specialized in wireless Campagnolo groupset installations for assistance.

GENERALNOTES AND COMPATIBILIT

WARNING!

• Read the instructions in this manual carefully. This manual is an integral part of the product and must be kept in a safe place for future reference.

• MECHANICAL EXPERTISE – Most bicycle maintenance and repair work requires specific skills and experience and the use of appropriate tools. Basic mechanical skills and aptitude may not be adequate for working correctly on your bicycle. If you have any doubts about your ability to carry out the operations, contact qualified personnel.

• “ACCIDENT” – This manual draws your attention to the possibility of accidents in certain situations. Please note that any accident may cause damage to the bicycle and its components, and may result in severe or even fatal injury to yourself or others.

• DESIGNATED USE – This Campagnolo® product is designed and manufactured exclusively for use on racing bicycles ridden on smooth tarmac roads or on the track. Any other use of this product, off-road or on trails, for example, is not permitted.

• LIFE CYCLE – WEAR – NEED FOR INSPECTION – The life cycle of Campagnolo® components depends on many factors, such as the weight of the user and the conditions of use. Impacts, blows, falls, and improper use, in general, could compromise the structural integrity of the components, significantly reducing the life cycle; some components are also subject to wear over time. Please have your bicycle inspected regularly by a qualified mechanic, to check for the presence of cracks, deformations or other signs of fatigue or wear (to detect cracks on the parts, use a liquid penetrant or other microfracture detector).

• If any deformations, cracks or signs of impact or fatigue are found on inspection, regardless of how minor, the part affected must be replaced immediately; also excessively worn components must be replaced immediately. The frequency of inspection depends on many factors; contact your authorized Campagnolo S.r.l. representative to help you to select the interval that is right for you.

• If you weigh more than 82 kg/180 lbs, you should be especially careful and have your bike inspected more frequently (compared to those who weigh less than 82 kg/180 lbs) to check for cracks, deformations and other signs of fatigue or wear. Check with your mechanic that the Campagnolo® components that you have chosen are suitable for the intended use, and determine how frequently these components need to be inspected together with your mechanic.

• Record WL drivetrain with those of the Campagnolo 12-speed Super Record WL mechanical drivetrain (cranksets and sprocket boxes); under no circumstances must the Super Record WL components be used with non-Campagnolo components.

WARNING!

The assembly of the components of the Super Record WL groupset must be carried out exclusively by a Campagnolo Pro-Shop or a mechanic specialized in the assembly of Campagnolo wireless groupsets. Any tampering with or incorrect or incomplete installation of any part of the disc brake system, even of only one component of the Super Record WL groupset, will automatically void the warranty.

SAFETY RECOMMENDATION

• Please note that failure to correctly carry out the maintenance and repair procedures indicated in this manual or to follow the instructions in this manual could result in an accident.

• Never make any modifications to any Campagnolo ® product.

• Any bent or damaged parts following impact or accidents must be replaced with original Campagnolo® parts.

• Wear close fitting and highly visible clothing (fluorescent colors or other bright colors light colors).

• Avoid cycling at night because it is difficult for others to see you and obstacles on the road are difficult to distinguish. If using the bicycle at night, ensure that it is fitted with suitable lights and reflectors.

• Never use a bicycle or component with which you are not completely familiar or the use
  and maintenance operations of which are unknown. Secondhand parts may have been used incorrectly or may be ruined, therefore they could break unexpectedly, causing an accident.

• If the bicycle is used in the wet remember that the braking power and tyre grip decrease significantly, making it more difficult to control. Therefore pay closer attention when riding on wet surfaces in order to prevent possible accidents..

• Always wear a correctly-fastened protective helmet and ensure that this is ANSI or SNELL-approved.

• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with
  reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.

• Children shall not play with the appliance.

• Keep magnetic elements away from this electronic component as they may cause malfunctions.

BEFORE USING THE BICYCLE
DO NOT USE YOUR BICYCLE IF IT DOES NOT PASS THIS TEST – CORRECT ANY FAULTY SITUATIONS BEFORE USING THE BICYCLE.

• Make sure that all of the bicycle components, including (but not exclusively) brakes, pedals, handgrips, handlebars, frame and seat unit are in perfect condition and ready for use.
• Make sure that none of the bicycle components are bent, damaged or out of alignment.
• Check to ensure that all of the locking and fixing devices on the bicycle are properly adjusted. Bounce the bicycle on the ground to check whether you can see or hear any loose parts.
• Check all reflectors are securely mounted and are clean.
• Make sure the wheels are perfectly centered. Spin the wheel to ensure that it does not wobble up and down or from side to side.
• Spin the wheel to check that it rotates freely and to ensure that the br touching the disc when the brake levers are not depressed.
• Before using the bicycle, always check that the front and rear brakes are working correctly by testing the brake levers several times, ensuring that the front and rear disc rotors engage correctly.
• Ensure correct operation of the brakes before riding.
• Learn and observe local cycling rules and all the road signs during your ride.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION

Frequency range: 2402-2480 MHz – Maximum transmitted power: +8.5dBm
The 2.4 Ghz digital wireless system can be subject to interference or disturbances by devices that use the same frequency band: particularly intense sources can cause incorrect readings or failed readings in the system. Examples of sources of disturbance of interference are: televisions, PCs, radios, engines, rail crossings or near train tracks, sending television stations, radar bases, and sources of digitally controlled illumination.

IMPORTANT! COMPATIBILITY NOTICE
The component in your possession is the result of numerous engineering efforts carried out on various components in order to improve the overall performance of the drivetrain. The use of components that do not belong to this drivetrain may significantly reduce the overall performance of the drivetrain and it is therefore advisable not to use components that do not belong to this drivetrain.

WARNING!
The rear derailleur compatibility code is visible in the area indicated on the rear derailleur itself (Fig.1). Check the drivetrain groupset compatibility tables on www.campagnolo.com for the compatibility of your rear derailleur with other Campagnolo components.

OPERATION

The rear derailleur is a component of the drivetrain of the bicycle which shifts the chain on the sprockets to obtain different final drive ratios between crankset and wheel (the parts of the rear derailleur are shown in Fig. 2).

INSERTING THE BATTERY AND SWITCHING ON THE REAR DERAILLEUR
IMPORTANT! Before the first use, fully charge the rechargeable battery until all the LEDs turn off (Fig.3).

• Use only battery chargers certified according to IEC 62368-1.
• The approximate time required for a full battery charge is about 1 hour.
• Use only the Campagnolo battery made for this component, identifiable by the PU23-SR12RD.
• Insert the battery into the rear derailleur by sliding it from the bottom to the top (Fig.4).
• Lock the battery in place by sliding the lock button until it comes into contact with the pivot (Fig. 5 / Fig. 6).

WARNING!
Failure to secure the battery correctly can cause it to slide out from the rear derailleur due to the vibrations that the bicycle is normally subjected to when used on the road.
The rear derailleur does not have an on switch and as such, it switches on automatically once the battery is inserted.

SWITCHING ON THE REAR DERAILLEUR WITH THE BATTERY INSERTED
The rear derailleur does not have an ignition switch and as such, once the battery is inserted and charged, it turns on automatically when subjected to vibration.

SWITCHING OFF THE REAR DERAILLEUR
The rear derailleur switches off automatically after 30 minutes when it is not used or subjected to vibration.

BEHAVIOUR OF THE REAR DERAILLEUR WHEN SWITCHING ON
A) REAR DERAILLEUR ALREADY COUPLED WITH THE FRONT DERAILLEUR AND ERGOPOWER CONTROLS

The rear derailleur LED lights up blue and flashes quickly when attempting to connect to these:

• If it connects to all the other components, the blue LED flashes slowly and the rear derailleur works
• if it only connects to the Ergopower controls and does not connect to the front derailleur, the rear derailleur works but the blue LED continues to flash quickly: turn on the front derailleur too
• if you connect to the front derailleur but not to the right-hand Ergopower control, the blue LED flashes quickly and the rear derailleur does not work: turn on the right-hand Ergopower control

B) REAR DERAILLEUR NOT PAIRED WITH THE FRONT DERAILLEUR AND ERGOPOWER CONTROLS

The rear derailleur LED lights up with a solid blue color: the rear derailleur needs to be paired with the rest of the components.
Contact a Campagnolo Pro Shop or a mechanic specialized in assembling Campagnolo wireless groupsets.

ADJUSTMENT OF THE REAR DERAILLEUR

WARNING!

Adjusting the rear derailleur while riding may cause hazardous situations and accidents, injury or even death.
We, therefore, urge the utmost attention should you decide to do so.

1. Position the rear derailleur on the 6th sprocket (the 1st is the smallest sprocket).
2. Keep the MODE buttons (Fig.7) of the Ergopower controls pressed down at the same time for 5 seconds until the LEDs light up in a solid PINK colour.
3. Press the MODE button of the right-hand Ergopower control within 1 second. The rear derailleur LED lights up in a solid PINK colour.
4. To complete the procedure, press the MODE buttons on the Ergopower controls simultaneously and quickly.
   The rear derailleur LED will start to blink slowly in BLUE.

STATE OF CHARGE AND BATTERY LIFE
To view the battery charge status, quickly press the MODE button on the rear derailleur and check how many LEDs light up (Fig.8).

1. LED on -> between 0 and 25% charge;
2. LEDs on -> between 25 and 50% charge;
3. LEDs on -> between 50 and 75% charge;
4. LEDs on -> between 75 and 100% charge

• The status of the batteries is also visible on the MyCampy app 3.0 and/or compatible cycle computer.
• It is advisable to check the state of charge of the battery at each use and to recharge the battery as soon as the charge indication falls below 25-50% (2 LEDs on).
• The battery life depends on many factors, especially on the type of use and environmental conditions (for example, temperatures close to 0°C lead to higher battery consumption).
• If the battery power drops below a certain level, the system enters LOW CONSUMPTION mode: in this mode, the gear shifts take place slowly. In this instance, it is advisable to reduce the frequency of gear shifts and position the rear and front derailleurs on an agile ratio.

MYCAMPY APP 3.0
Information about components and customisation functions is available in the MyCampy 3.0 app.
Remove the removable label with the rear derailleur serial number (X – Fig. 8) and apply it to the Quick Guide provided with the rear derailleur, in order to store it.
Download the app from Google Play or the App Store depending on your digital system. Open the MyCampy 3.0 app, and register, if using it for the first time, or logging in, and follow the instructions for coupling the rear derailleur with the app.
The rear derailleur is coupled with the app by entering the serial number of the rear derailleur indicated on the removable label or on the black label on the rear derailleur.

REAR DERAILLEUR RELEASE MECHANISM AND ‘’RIDE BACK HOME’’ FUNCTION

In the case of a fall or accidental impact, the rear derailleur “disengagement” mechanism may activate. In the event that this occurs, the rear derailleur will not go down onto the smaller sprockets, or will not go up onto the larger sprockets.
If it will not go down onto the smallest sprockets, the recommended procedure is as follows:

• shift down to the smallest sprocket possible,

• stop pedalling

• repeatedly move the lower lever, as if you want to move up to the larger sprockets (Fig.9).
  In cases where the levers have been customised, move the lever that performs this function.

• If it will not go up onto the larger sprockets, the recommended procedure is as follows:

  • Move up onto largest sprocket possible,
  • stop pedalling
  • repeatedly move the upper lever, as if you want to move down onto the smaller sprockets (Fig.9)..
    In cases where the levers have been customized, move the lever that performs this function. If this doesn’t work, re-engage manually.

• If it is not possible to go down onto the smaller sprockets, hold the upper body of the rear derailleur with your left hand and pull the lower body of the rear derailleur, where there is the battery, towards you (Fig.10).

• If it is not possible to go up onto the larger sprockets, hold the upper body of the rear derailleur with your left hand and push the lower body of the rear derailleur with your thumb finger in the area indicated in figure 11.

WARNING!
After re-engaging, for safety, also check the rear derailleur hanger alignment and the correct function of the rear derailleur itself.

“RIDE BACK HOME” FUNCTION
In the event that you run out of battery power “on the road” or if you experience a problem with the function of the rear derailleur, you can use the rear derailleur “release” mechanism to position the rear derailleur on the sprocket of your choice.
If you want to move the rear derailleur onto larger sprockets: grip the upper body of the rear
derailleur and push the lower part with your thumb in the area indicated in Fig.11.
If you want to move the rear derailleur onto smaller sprockets: grip the upper body of the rear derailleur and pull the lower part, where there is the battery, towards you (Fig.10).
As you do this, slowly rotate the hand crank to make it easier to move the chain.
Once back home, remember to re-engage the rear derailleur and charge the battery.

USAGE TEMPERATURE
The usage temperature must be between -10 / + 60 °C (14 / 140 °F).

PERIODIC INSPECTION

WARNING!
Always use protective gloves and goggles when working on your bike.

Before each use and after a fall or collision, check that the component does not exhibit any of the following problems:

• abnormal noise coming from the rear derailleur when shifting
• by placing the rear derailleur on the largest sprocket, looking at it from the rear, you will notice that the lower part of the jockey cage is too close to the spokes of the wheel, as the drop-out of the rear derailleur is probably bent (Fig. 12).|

WARNING!
Do not try to bend the rear derailleur drop-out to avoid breaking the screw, and do not use the rear derailleur on the larger sprockets as it may come into contact with the spokes, be-come damaged and cause accidents, injury or even death.

• The jockey cage wheels do not rotate freely
• Deformations, breaks or cracks in the battery.
  If one or more of these problems are found or in the event of any doubts with regard to the correct operation of the component, contact a specialized mechanic as indicated in Chapter 2, “Information and technical support”.

WARNING!
Campagnolo spare parts must only be installed by qualified mechanicals with specialized skills and tools and adequate experience, following the installation instructions precisely. Installation by unqualified persons may cause malfunctions, accidents and serious or even fatal injury.

MAINTENANCE/LUBRICATION/ CLEANING/STORAGE

• The duration of the components is variable based on the conditions of use, frequency and quality of maintenance. For a good maintenance of the components it is therefore necessary to repeat frequently cleaning and lubrication, especially in severe conditions of use (e.g. every time after washing the bicycle, after each ride on wet, dusty or muddy roads, etc.).
• Check Chapter 8 to determine the frequency with which you should have maintenance performed on your components by a specialized mechanic: Period maintenance.
• Dirt seriously damages the bicycle and its components. Wash, clean and dry your bicycle carefully after use.
• Caution: to avoid compromising the integrity of the system, wash your bicycle with the rear derailleur and front derailleur batteries installed.
• Never wash your bicycle using pressurized water. Pressurized water – even from a normal garden hose – may infiltrate the seals and get into your Campagnolo®, components, causing irreparable damage to them. Wash your bicycle and the Campagnolo® components by delicately cleaning with water and neutral soap.
• Check that any holes present in the bottom bracket shell are not obstructed and let water drain from the frame.

WARNING!
Saline conditions (such as roads in winter and in coastal areas) may cause galvanic corrosion in the majority of the exposed bicycle components. To prevent damage, malfunction and the consequent risk of accident, rinse, clean, dry and relubricate all components subject to corrosion.

Do not expose the products to high temperatures, do not leave them closed in cars parked in the sun, do not store them near radiators or other heat sources, do not store carbon or plastic products in direct sunlight.

PROCEDURE FOR CLEANING AND LUBRICATING THE REAR DERAILLEUR

• Where dust and mud is present, remove any residue with specially-designed plastic tools; take extra care to clean the rear derailleur wheels to remove oily residues from the chain.
  IMPORTANT: when cleaning the bicycle, only use environmentally-friendly and neutral products without caustic substances which are safe to use for you and for the environment.

• Dry the component with a soft cloth. Lubricate the rear derailleur pins.

• Spray anti-rust products into the contacts between the battery and the component and on the contacts for charging the battery.

• Clean any residues near the contacts.

• Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

PERIOD OF INACTIVITY AND BATTERY CHARGE
In case of prolonged inactivity of the bike, it is advisable to remove the battery from the front derailleur and recharge it approximately once a month or in any case before the charge drops to 0-25 % (only one LED on).
It is advisable not to store the battery at temperatures above 35° or below 0°

SAFETY INDICATIONS FOR THE BATTERY
Failure to observe the following points may result in overheating, which in turn might lead to fire, explosion, damage to property, or accidents causing injury or death.

• Do not force the charging cable connectors onto the charging pins; respect the correct connection thanks to the magnets on the cable and battery connectors.
• Do not connect the (+) and (-) terminals to metal objects. Do not transport or store the battery with metal objects such as necklaces or hairpins.
• Do not disassemble or modify the battery, nor apply solder directly on the battery terminals.
• Do not heat the battery or throw it into a fire or near a source of fire.
• Do not leave the battery in places where the temperature may exceed 35°C (e.g. exposed to direct sunlight, inside vehicles on hot days, or near heaters).
• If the charging cycle has not been completed after 1.5 hours of charging time, stop charging.
• Do not put the battery in water.
• Do not store the battery outside of the temperature ranges (above 35° or below 0°).
• Do not use the battery if it has obvious scratches or other external damage.
• Do not subject the battery to strong impact, or throw it.
• Do not use the battery if there is leakage, discoloration, deformation or any other abnormality.
• Do not charge the battery in places with high humidity levels, or outdoors.
• If the connectors are wet, dry them well before connecting them to the charging cables.
• If the battery housing in the component is wet or damp, dry it thoroughly before inserting the battery.
• If the liquid from the battery gets into the eyes or comes into contact with the skin, rinse the affected area straight away with clean water (without rubbing the eyes), and then contact a medical centre.
• If the liquid from the battery comes into contact with clothing, rinse the affected area straight away with clean water.

TRANSPORTING THE BIKE
When transporting the bike, we recommend leaving the battery in, especially if the bike could be subjected to weather or external agents that could settle in the contact area between the battery and the component. In the case of excessive vibration, the component LED turns on but if it does not receive any activation requests from the control levers, the turns off after 30 min.
If it is necessary to remove the battery from the component, the battery compartment must be protected from any external agents that could get inside. Switch off the Ergopowers as per the specific User Manual to avoid draining the batteries inside.

FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCEDURE
When using the app, with the rear derailleur connected, the display will indicate the presence of more updated firmware for your components.
Follow the instructions in the app to perform the firmware update.

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE TABLE

Maintenance intervals are strictly approximate and may vary significantly in relation to the intensity and conditions of use (for example: competitions, rain, winter roads with salt, weight of the athlete, etc.). Schedule the appropriate maintenance with your customer.
