Jump Start Heat Mat from Hydrofarm Thermostat regulates heat mat temperatures by maintaining a steady, ideal temperature for plants, seedlings, and cuttings. In a tray and dome, it is perfect for maintaining root zone/rooting temperatures. Simple plug-in operation with a three-prong ground socket, digital temperature selector, and LED indicator light. From 68 to 108 degrees Fahrenheit are within control. a temperature probe with a 6′ cord is included. digital readout with a Fahrenheit or Celsius option. Heat mats are no longer exclusively for the garden! They are very helpful for providing reliable, regulated heating for various pastimes including homebrewing (maintaining fermentation temperatures), reptile and arachnid keeping (heating for enclosures and terrariums), and more.
With this thermostat, you can quickly increase the functionality of any heat mat so that it offers the ideal temperature that your pets and projects need to thrive. You can relax and stop continually checking the temperature, whether in cooler or warmer situations because you can set and keep your chosen temperature. The Heat Mat Thermostat is the only heat mat thermostat that has received ETL certification. A reputable inspection lab with a focus on testing the safety of products is ETL (Intertek). All heat mats are compatible with the Jump Start Heat Mat Thermostat, which is an optional extra for Hydrofarm Seedling Heat Mats.

The Jump Start Heat Mat Thermostat™ is a digital temperature control device that allows gardeners to select and maintain optimum rooting temperatures for faster seedling or cutting growth. It is compatible with all Jump Start Heat Mats and most other seedling heat mats.
Set Up The Thermostat
- Insert the probe approximately 1″ – 1½” into the rooting area.
- Position the thermostat up and away from seedling trays and stray water. DO NOT SUBMERGE THE THERMOSTAT.
- Plug the heat mat into the thermostat.
- Plug the thermostat’s power cord into the power source/electrical outlet. The POWER LED lights up.
- Set the maximum desired temperature for the heat mat.
Using The Controller
- Press the SET button to display the current pre-set temperature. The thermostat’s LED screen shows the current temperature whenever the SET button is not activated.
- Press and hold the SET button until the LED starts to blink, then you are able to adjust the temperature up or down by pushing the (UP) or (DOWN) arrows. The thermostat’s LED screen shows the numbers as you cycle through them. Press the SET button again to set the chosen temperature. The HEATING light cycles on when the mat is in the process of heating. When the LED is not lit, the mat is not providing heat. The light turns off automatically when the mat reaches the pre-set temperature.
- Press and hold the (DOWN) arrow button for three seconds to display the temperature in Celsius. Press and hold the (UP) arrow button to display the temperature in Fahrenheit.
TIPS
The Digital Heat Mat is designed to achieve the desired heat temperature within five hours. If it takes longer than five hours, or if the mat runs for longer than 5 hours, desired temperatures are not being reached. To conserve power and increase the mat’s effectiveness, move the mat to a more insulated surface. You can also add a humidity dome to cover the seedling tray, which aids in heat retention.
Warning: DO NOT IMMERSE CONTROLLER IN WATER.
If the probe’s temperature reaches 108 degrees F, the automatic safety shut- off is activated.
In the event that you would like to use your thermostat to control air
temperature, we’ve included a suction cup so that the probe can be mounted
outside the rooting area. Simply clip the suction cup over the probe and apply
it to the desired area. It may help to moisten the suction cup prior to
sticking it.
Warranty: The Jump Start Heat Mat Thermostat is guaranteed to the original owner for one full year against defects in workmanship and materials. Save your receipt – a copy is required for all warranty work. Return the Heat Mat to your place of purchase.
