Work area

  1. Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents.
  2. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  3. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

Electrical Safety
(The following applies only to tools with a separate battery pack)
A battery operated tool with integral batteries or a separate battery pack must be recharged only with the specified charger for the battery. A charger that may be suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire when used with another battery.
Personal Safety

  1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
  2. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery, or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
  3. Avoid accidental starting. Be sure switch is in the locked or off position before inserting batter pack. Carrying tools with your finger on the switch invites accidents.
  4. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance enable better control of the tool in unexpected situations
  5. Use safety equipment. Always wear hearing and eye protection, Dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat must be used for appropriate conditions.

Power tool use and care

  1. Use clamps or other practical ways to secure and support the work piece to a stable platform. Holding the work piece by hand or against your body is unstable and may lead to loss of control.
  2. Do not force tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The correct tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it is designed.

Recommended and Proper Use
This hand held power tool is a cordless reciprocating saw It is intended for domestic and light commercial use only. Any other application is considered misuse. This power product is supplied without batteries or charger. This power tool should only be operated combined with the recommended by the manufacturer genuine Bormann battery and charger.
Device-specific safety instructions

  1. Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring .Contact with a “live” wire will also make exposed metal parts of the tool “live” and shock the operator.
  2. Keep hands clear of moving parts.
  3. Do not touch moving parts, Allow the power tool accessories (bit and blades etc)to cool before touching them .They can become extremely hot during use and can burn your skin.
  4. Always wear protective safety glasses when operating power tools. Wear a face mask when environment is dusty.

Description of main parts (Picture A)

  1. Adjustable sole plate.
  2. Quick change blade function
  3. Orbital selection switch
  4. Variable speed switch
  5. Safety switch
  6. Soft grip handle

Operating Instructions

Switch and variable stroke (Fig.1)
Your reciprocating saw is equipped with a variable speed switch (4) to turn the saw on and off, and to control the speed.

  • To start the saw depress the safety switch (6) first, then press the variable speed switch.
  • To stop the saw, release the variable speed switch.
  • To vary the stroke rate, simply increase or decrease the pressure on the trigger switch. The tighter the trigger switch is pressed, the higher the speed.

Quick change blade (Fig.2)

This machine is equipped with a quick-change blade holder. To release a blade simply turn the knob anticlockwise and pull the blade out. To install a blade, again turn the knob a quarter turn anticlockwise and insert the blade, release the knob and pull on the blade to check that it is securely engaged.

Orbital selection switch (Fig.3)
Orbital action makes the blade work in an elliptical motion (if viewed from the side}, which in turn causes the machine to work harder and faster. Not
recommended for accurate work, it is more suited to demolition tasks where the finish doesn’t matter so much.
Adjustable sole plate locking switch (Fig.4)
The sole plate can be adjusted to change the length of blade that projects from the front of the tool. This can be used in a situation where you need to
restrict the cut to just a thin layer of material like cutting plasterboard without intruding into the wall cavity too far. To adjust, you move the lever in the
direction of the arrow and then pull or push on the sole plate to move the mechanism. Once the desired position is reached, return the lever to it’s original
position and verify the sole plate is locked by trying to move it back and forth.
Flush cutting (Fig.5)
With the use of flexible bi-metal saw blades, projecting items (i.e. water pipes, etc.) can be sawn off flush to the wall. Pay attention that the saw blade always
extends beyond the diameter of the pipe being sawn. Danger of kickback.
Position the saw blade sidewards against the wall and apply some lateral pressure via the tool so the edge of the pivoting sole plate faces against the wall.
Switch the tool on and make the cut, applying constant lateral pressure.
General cutting
Warning! Before use, always check to see that the trigger is actuated properly and returns to the off position when released.
Warning! When sawing into walls or floors you may encounter electrical wiring. Sawing into a “live” wire will cause electric shock. Always check with a metal/ voltage detector that there are no hidden hazards such as electrical cables, water or gas pipes running below the surface.

  • Make sure the workpiece is firmly anchored. Clamp the workpiece to prevent slipping or moving while cutting.

  • Use the appropriate type and size of blade for the workpiece material and size.

  • Check for clearance beyond the workpiece so the blade will not impact another surface.

  • Mark the line of cut clearly. If cutting metal, apply cutting oil on the line.

  • Depress the trigger switch to start the saw and bring it to maximum desired cutting stroke rate before applying the blade to the workpiece

  • Do not force the tool. Place the sole plate firmly on the workpiece while cutting. Use only enough steady pressure on the blade to keep the saw cutting.
Reduce pressure as the blade comes to the end of the cut.

  • Cutting stroke rates should vary with the workpiece. Hard materials such as metals require lower stroke rates, for softer materials use higher stroke rates.

  • Check wood, chip boards, building materials etc. for foreign objects (nails, screws, etc.) before sawing and remove them, if necessary.

  • Position the pivoting sole plate onto the surface of the work and saw through the work applying uniform contact pressure of feed.
If the saw blade jams, switch off the tool immediately. Widen the saw cut with a suitable tool and pull out the saw blade.

Charging batteries
Warning: Use only the original charger to charge the batteries supplied by the manufacturer. Only batteries and chargers designed by Bormann can be used in conjunction with this product.
The use of any other types of batteries / chargers in combination with this product is considered abuse and will void the warranty.
Once connected to the power supply, the battery can be recharged without the need for monitoring. The complex construction of the circuit monitors the condition of the battery by adjusting the recharge current to match the requirements. When the recharge cycle is complete and to maintain full capacity, a low-voltage output current will continue to be powered as needed.
Warning!

  • Check the status of the charger and battery before each charge. If there is any indication of a fault then do not continue, seek advice from an authorized vendor.

Battery pack efficiency and charging advice
Recharge the battery packs before they become completely exhausted
When you feel that the power of the tool becomes weaker, stop using the tool and recharge the battery packs. If you continue to use the tool and exhaust the
electric current, the battery pack may become damaged.
Avoid recharging at high temperatures. A rechargeable battery pack will be hot immediately after use. If such a battery pack is recharged immediately after
use, its internal chemical substance will deteriorate, and the battery life will be shortened. Leave the battery pack and recharge it after it has cooled for a while.
The battery pack should only be used and/or charged when battery pack temperature is between 50C and 300C.
The battery pack needs to be warmed-up or cooled down in order to prevent damage to the batteries internal components.
Note : Failure to warm up or cool down a battery pack could result in serious damage to tie battery, charger and user.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

Maintenance
Regular inspection and cleaning reduces the necessity for maintenance operations and will keep your tool in good working condition. The motor must be correctly ventilated during tool operation. Avoid blocking the air inlets and vacuum the ventilation slots regularly.
WARNING : Always remove the rechargeable battery from the device before all work.

  • Replace all damaged or worn parts to ensure the power tool is always ready for safe operation.
  • Clean ventilation slots and openings with a brush.
  • DO NOT use any solvents or cleaning agents containing chemicals which could damage the plastic parts. Wipe the housing clean with a cloth.
  • Always store the leaf blower in a dry, frost-free location beyond the reach of children.
  • Store and charge your rechargeable batteries at a cool location. Temperatures above or below normal room temperature shorten the lifespan of the recharge- able batteries.
  • Do not store rechargeable batteries when discharged. Wait until the rechargeable battery has cooled down and charge it completely.
  • Rechargeable batteries gradually lose their charge. The higher the temperature, the quicker they lose their charge. For longer storage periods, recharge the rechargeable battery every one or two months. This will extend the lifespan of the rechargeable battery.
