MXR EVH-90 Phase Shifter
Congratulations on the purchase of your new MXR EVH 90 Phase Shifter! MXR is a pioneer of stomp box technology and MXR effects are chosen by guitarists the world over for their bulletproof construction and spectacular tone. The EVH 90 meets Edward Van Halen’s demanding specs and requirements. Please take a minute to read through this manual so you can get the most out of your EVH 90 Phase Shifter.
DESCRIPTION
- Deep, rich phase shifting
- “Script” switch lets you toggle between old-school (70s Script logo) and modern (current Block logo) phase sounds
- Single Speed control makes overall sound shaping simple
Controls
- Speed knob regulates overall effect rate (inactive in bypass mode)
- “Script” switch changes phaser character from modern (switch out) to vintage (switch in)
- Footswitch toggles effect on/bypass (blue LED indicates on)
POWER
The MXR EVH 90 uses one 9-volt battery, which is accessed through the bottom of the effect. The EVH 90 can also be powered by the Dunlop ECB03 (ECB03E in Europe), a 9-volt DC regulated AC adapter. Plug polarīty is positive on the barrel and negative on the center.
Note: A 9-volt battery must be installed to operate the EVH 90 unless an AC adapter is used.
DIRECTIONS
To begin using your MXR EVH 90:
- Run a cable from your guitar to the EVH 90’s input jack and run another cable from the EVH 90’s output jack to your amplifier. (For starters, select the clean channel of your amp.)
- Depress the Script switch to the in position (Script logo mode)
- Set the EVH 90’s Speed control to 12 o’clock.
- Turn the effect on by depressing the footswitch (Blue LED indicates on).
- Rotate the Speed knob slowly from right to left and listen to how that changes the phase effect. Clockwise motion creates faster phase effects and counterclockwise motion creates slower effects.
- Push the Script switch again to the “out” position (Block logo mode) and repeat step E for a more pronounced phase effect.
- Select your amp’s distortion channel and repeat steps B through F to hear how the phase shifting reacts differently with a dirty tone.
- Now place the EVH 90 in your amp’s effects loop by running a cable from your amp’s effects send jack to the EVH 90’s input jack. Run another cable from the EVH 90’s output jack to your amp’s effects return jack. Plug your guitar into the amp’s input jack and repeat steps B through G.
