    • 152 Oxford Grey 3 balls (A)

    • 151 Grey Heather 1 ball (B)

  • Lion Brand® crochet hook size I-9 (5.5 mm)
  • Lion Brand® large-eyed blunt needle

GAUGE
15 hdc through back loop = about 4 in. (10 cm) BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

NOTES

  1. Scarf is worked in 2 halves.
  2. A keyhole opening is worked on one half of the Scarf.
  3. Halves are seamed, then border is worked in contrast yarn color around entire Scarf.

FIRST HALF

With A, ch 2.
Row 1: Work 3 hdc in 2nd ch from hook.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn, work 2 hdc in first st, working in back loop only, hdc in next st, work 2 hdc in last st ­ you’ll have 5 sts.
Row 3: Ch 2, turn, work 2 hdc in first st, working in back loop only, hdc in in each st to last st, work 2 hdc in last st ­ you’ll have 7 sts.
Rows 4-16: Rep Row 3 ­ you’ll have 33 sts. Fasten off.

SECOND HALF

With A, ch 2.
Rep Rows 1-16 of First Half.

Rows 17-31 : Ch 2, turn, hdc through both loops of first st, hdc through back loop in each st across to last st, hdc through both loops of last st.
Row 32 : Ch 1, turn, sc through both loops of first st, sc through back loop in each of next 7 sts, ch 17, skip next 17 sts, sc through back loop of next 7 sts, sc through both loops of last st.
Row 33 : Ch 2, turn, hdc through both loops of first st, hdc through back loop in each of next 7 sts, hdc in each of next 17 ch, hdcthrough back loop of next 7 sts, hdc through both loops of last st ­ you’ll have 33 sts.
Rows 34-76 : Ch 2, turn, hdc through both loops of first st, hdc through back loop in each st across to last st, hdc through both loops of last st. Do NOT fasten off.

JOIN HALVES

Hold halves together along last row.
Working through both layers, ch 1, working through back loops only, sc across to join.
At the end of the row, rotate work to the right.
Working through both layers, sc evenly to join pieces for about 9 in. (23 cm). Fasten off.
Turn piece to right side.

BORDER

From right side, join B with a sl st at back seam of hood.
Ch 2, work hdc evenly spaced around outside edge of Scarf, working 3 hdc in same space at each point of Scarf.
Be sure to end with an odd number of sts.

Join with sl st to beginning ch.

Rnd 2 : Ch 2, hdc in each st around, working 3 hdc in center st of each point, join with sl st in beginning ch.
Rnd 3 : Ch 1, (sc, dc) in first st, skip next st, (sc, dc) in next st; rep from around, join with a sl st in beginning ch. Fasten off.

Weave in yarn ends.
