GAUGE
3 picot-shells + 9 rows = about 4 in. (10 cm).

STITCH EXPLANATIONS
picot Ch 4, sl st in first ch.
beg picot-shell Ch 3 (counts as dc), (dc, picot, 2 dc) in indicated st or
sp.
picot-shell (2 dc, picot, 2 dc) in indicated st or sp.
NOTES
-
Shawl is worked in one piece, back and forth in rows from the lower point
upwards. -
After the first 2 rows, picot-shells are worked in the spaces between sts instead
of in the top of sts. -
Yarn colors are changed to make stripes. To change yarn color, work last st of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete st. Fasten off old color and proceed with new color.

With A, ch 4.
Row 1 : Ch 3 (counts as dc), (dc, picot, 2 dc) in 4th ch from hook you
will have 1 picot-shell in this row.
Row 2: Beg picot-shell in first st, picot-shell in top of beg ch-3
2 picot-shells.
Row 3: Ch 4, turn, sl st in first st (side picot made), ch 3 (counts as
dc), dc in same (first) st, picot-shell in next sp between picot-shells, 2 dc
in top of beg ch-3-1 picot shell, 1 side picot and 2 dc at beg and end of
row.

Row 5: Ch 4, turn, sl st in first st, ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in same st,

in next sp between picot shells, picot-shell in sp between last picot-shell
and last 2-dc group, 2 dc in top of beg ch-3 3 picot-shells, 1 side picot,

Row 6: Ch 4, turn, sl st in first st, ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in same st,
picot-shell in sp between first 2-dc group and first picot shell, picot-shell
in each sp between picotshells across, picot-shell in sp between last picot-
shell and last 2-dc group, 2 dc in top of beg ch-3 4 picot-shells, 1 side
picot, and 2 dc at beg and end of row.
Rows 7-44: Rep Row 6 for 38 more times and continue to change yarn color
as follows: Work 7 more rows with A, 1 row with B, 1 row with A, 8 rows with
B, 1 row with C, 1 row with B, 8 rows with C, 1 row with D, 1 row with C, 7
rows with D, 1 row with A, and 1 row with D you will have 42 picot-shells, 1
side picot, and 2 dc at beg and end of Row 44.
Fasten off.
FINISHING
On a flat surface, pin Shawl to measurements. Spray with water, then allow to
dry. Weave in yarn ends.
