Quick Start Guide

DVB-T305

1. Open the Play Store on your smartphone or tablet, or scan the QR code below then download the “August 305” App.
2. Connect the DVB-T305 to an antenna. It is suggested that you use a rooftop antenna when searching for TV channels for the first time.
3. Plug the DVB-T305 into the USB socket of your Android tablet or phone. Once connected, confirm “Open August 305 when this device is connected?”
4. On the initial start-up screen tap “Goto” for the Channel Scan screen and select your country from the list and tap “Scan”.
5. When the scan has finished tap on the app screen to begin watching TV.
6. Tap the screen to bring up the option buttons. Use to access the channel list.

PLEASE NOTE: The TV signal strength in some areas may not be sufficient to support TV reception using a portable antenna. The distance from the closest transmitter and other factors such as surrounding buildings, the walls of your house, weather, and electromagnetic interference caused by power and telecommunication infrastructure may affect signal strength. Changing location may improve signal reception and a rooftop antenna designed for digital TV can be used to achieve the best possible reception.

Installation and Connection

1. Open the Play Store on your smartphone or tablet and download the “August 305” App.
2. Connect the DVB-T305 to an antenna. It is suggested that you use a rooftop antenna when searching for TV channels for the first time.
3. Plug the DVB-T305 into the USB socket of your Android tablet or phone. Once connected, confirm “Open August 305 when this device is connected?”
4. Tap to enter the settings menu and Tap Channel Scan to launch a new search.
5. Tap the country selection in the bottom left and select your country, then tap “Scan”. The device will show a progress bar and begin to scan for TV channels. It will take several minutes to scan all frequencies.
6. When the scan has finished tap on the app screen to begin watching TV

Unit Operation

In Live TV view, tap the TV program screen to bring up the options:

1. TV Channel/Favourite List
2. EPG (Electronic Program Guide)
3. Aspect ratio select
4. Sound options
5. Channel information bar (Now /Next program, Battery, signal. Recording on/off and time)
6. Settings
7. Recording

Note: When watching TV you can swipe up/down to adjust the volume, and left/right to select between previous and next TV channels.

TV Channel/Favourite List

Tap to access the TV Channel List. Tap the channel to select it and bring up the buttons to add the channel to favorites, or view the EPG for this specific channel. Tapping adds or removes the channel from the favorites list.
Tapping EPG brings up the Electronic Program Guide for the Tap TV to close the menu. channel.

Tap to close the menu.

EPG (Electronic Program Guide)

Tap EPG to bring up the Electronic Program Guide for the Swipe up/down to view the TV program schedule, and tap a day button to change daily.

Aspect ratio select

Tap the Aspect ratio button to cycle between 4:3 / 16:9 / 16:10/Full Screen

Audio Language

Tap to bring up a list of available languages then select the language required.

Information

Whilst watching TV, tapping the TV screen will bring up the Channel information bar at the bottom of the screen.
The information bar will show:

• the current channel
• the program information (now playing and next)
• the recording status (on/off)
• the TV signal strength
• Your Android device battery level

Record

To record a TV program tap the screen to show the Channel information bar.
Press to start. An icon will appear in the top right to show the length of time of the recording.
To stop recording, press again.

Settings

Tapping will enable you to perform a new channel scan, as well as showing information about the app.
Tap to leave the settings menu.

Recordings

Tapping brings up a list of your previous recordings with the option to watch or delete them and the available space for recordings. To play a recording tap . You will then be asked which player the file should be read with.
Note: Recordings are in .ts file format. Not all players can read this format.
To delete a recording tap and confirm by tapping “OK” or cancel by tapping “Cancel”.

Troubleshooting

305 message with “OK”. Try removing and reinserting the DVB-T305.
No Sound| Swipe up to raise the volume or use your tablet or smartphone volume control.Check the connection to the target audio device.
Picture freezing and/ or sound distorted| in too weak, lease checks the connect or upgrade to an amplified antenna rooftop aerial.
No Signal| Signal too weak, please check the antenna connection or upgrade to an amplified or rooftop aerial.
Not Recording| Check available space for recordings and delete if necessary. You may need to remove files from your smartphone or tablet to create space.

Warranty

This product is guaranteed for twelve months from the date of the original purchase. In the unlikely event of any defect arising due to faulty materials or workmanship, the unit will be either replaced or repaired free of charge (where possible) during this period. An alternative product will be offered in the case that the product is no longer available or repairable.
This warranty is subject to the following conditions:

• The warranty is only valid within the country where the product is purchased.
• The product must be correctly installed and operated in accordance with the instructions given in this user manual.
• The product must be used solely for domestic purposes.
• The warranty only covers the main unit and does not cover the accessories.
• The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, negligence, accident, or natural disaster.
• The warranty will be rendered invalid if the product is resold or has been damaged by inexpert repairs.  The manufacturer disclaims any liability for incidental or consequential damages.
• Please consult our customer adviser before returning any product; we are not responsible for any unexpected product returns.
• Any faulty product must be kept and returned in the original packaging with all the accessories and the original copy of the purchase receipt.
  The warranty is in addition to and does not diminish, your statutory or legal rights.
