IN THE BOX
INSTALLATION
- Determine desired location of AG: place as high on trailer as possible in order to maximize GPS signal, but avoid protruding unit above trailer roof line to avoid potential damage.
- Turn all power OFF. If your reefer has a Blue Box, please skip to step 5.
- For models prior to 2017 without a BlueBox, connect the REB iBox to the J98 10-pin connector on the control board.
- Open Thermo King cabinet and electronics control box (may require unbolting). Route reefer end of Y-cable into control box via rear grommet.
- For models 2018 and newer, the BlueBox EN should already be installed.
- Open Thermo King cabinet and electronics control box (may require unbolting). Route reefer end of Y-cable into control box via rear grommet.
- Attach Thermo King pigtail to Y-cable
- Connect Samsara cable to iBox/BlueBox harness via the 6 pin deutsch connector.
- Test routing cable to mounting location of the AG to ensure sufficient length and/or how to adjust slack before finalizing mounting location. Select mounting location, clean thoroughly with cleaning wipe. Attach mounting plate with adhesive and 4 self-tapping screws (bag 1).
- Mount AG onto mounting plate with 4 flat-end screws (bag 2).
- Plug cable into AG, twist to lock. The LED light will blink orange while connecting and turn to a solid green light once connected. If the light turns solid orange, ensure you’re in an area with good cellular signal. For further troubleshooting tips, refer to your asset gateway troubleshooting guide.
- Run cable to 7-way. Fasten to trailer with zip ties.
- Connect cable to 7-way. AG light turns on for 30 seconds if correct.
- Activate device.
- Please note, once any additional Thermo King telematics hardware has been installed, the reefer HMI will need to be configured for 3rd party access and remote control. Please work with your local Thermo King dealer to update to the correct 3rd party integration configurations in the guarded access menu. Reminder for models with a BlueBox, you will need to contact Thermo King support at trackingsupport@thermoking.com or work with your local Thermo King dealer with your BlueBox serial number and IMEI to request that your BlueBox be remotely reconfigured to iBox mode. This will enable Samsara to communicate with your reefer unit.
- To confirm installation after completing all of the above steps, turn the reefer on and wait 2 minutes. You should then see the reefer diagnostics are populating on the trailer’s dashboard page. To confirm 2 way control, turn the reefer off from your dashboard and confirm the reefer has turned off.
In order to complete this installation, please ensure you have both the Samsara hardware and Thermo King hardware parts needed. Depending on your reefer model and year, you will need either an REB iBox or a BlueBox with the respective 3rd party compatible harnesses from Thermo King. Models 2018 and newer will have a BlueBox pre-installed in the reefer. Please confirm you have the 3rd party compatible harness. For models prior to 2018, you may have an REB iBox with a harness that can be used. If not, please consult with your Thermo King dealer to procure the necessary Thermo King hardware. For any questions regarding which Thermo King parts are needed please refer to the Model Compatibility Guide or your local Thermo King dealer. Reminder for models with a BlueBox, you will need to contact Thermo King support at trackingsupport@thermoking.com or work with your local Thermo King dealer with your BlueBox serial number and IMEI to request that your BlueBox be remotely reconfigured to iBox mode. This will enable Samsara to communicate with your reefer unit.
