The operation, maintenance, and product installation: for your safety, please refer to the different sections of this manual or the corresponding icons.
When using electric appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  • Read all instructions before using.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces.
  • To protect against electric shock, do not immerse or partially immerse the cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Not intended for use by children. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow cooling before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments, not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Do not use appliances other than intended use.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Check that the electrical installation is compatible with the wattage and voltage stated on the bottom of the appliance.
  • CAUTION – To ensure continued protection against the risk of electric shock, connect to properly grounded outlets only.
  • Always attach the plug to the appliance first, then plug the cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off”, then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
  • WARNING: Do not heat or pre-heat without the grill plate on the appliance.

Short Cord Instructions
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used:

  1. The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance;
  2. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord; and
  3. The longer cord should be arranged so that it does not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

  • Do not consume food that comes into contact with the parts marked with the logo.
  • Only use parts or accessories provided with the appliance or bought from an Approved-Service Center. Do not use them for other appliances or intentions.
  • To avoid harming your product, do not use flambé recipes with it at any time.
  • This appliance is not intended to be used in the following applications, and the guarantee will not apply for:
    -staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; ­
    -farmhouses; ­
    -by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; ­
    -bed and breakfast type environments.
  • When using for the first time, wash the plate(s), pour a little cooking oil on the plate then wipe it with an absorbent kitchen towel.
  • To avoid damaging the non-stick coating of the cooking plate(s) always use plastic or wooden utensils.
  • Do not use aluminum foil or other objects between the plates and the food being cooked.
  • Do not place cooking utensils on the cooking surfaces of the appliance.
  • Do not cook food in aluminum foil.
  • Do not remove the drip tray while cooking. If the drip tray becomes full when cooking, let the appliance cool down before emptying.
  • On first use, there may be a slight odor and a little smoke during the first few minutes. In these cases open the window and wait until there is no more smoke or odor.

Prevention of accidents at home

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by an adult responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Accessible surface temperatures can be high when the appliance is operating.
  • Never touch the hot surfaces of the appliance, always use the handles.
  • Cooking fumes may be dangerous for animals that have a particularly sensitive respiratory system, such as birds. We advise bird owners to keep them away from the cooking area.

Environment protection first!
The packaging of your product is made of recyclable materials. Don’t throw it in your usual trash can, take it to a nearby separated waste collection center.
Please take your used appliance to a recycling depot in your area. Thank you for being environmentally friendly.

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • · Unwind the cord completely -1.
  • Place the base on a heat-resistant countertop in a well-ventilated area. Place the drip tray and grill plate on top of the base and make sure the drip tray and grill plate are sitting properly on the base. -2.
  • Preheat the device for about 10-15 minutes at maximum temperature -3.
  • The Ready indicator (B) will turn ON. -4
  • Once the appliance is preheated, it will be ready for use.
  • Adjust the thermostat according to the desired position -5 until the Ready indicator (B) turn-OFF.
  • You are now ready to start cooking, place your food on the cooking plates -6.

After use

  • Place the thermostat in the “OFF” position -7.
  • Unplug the appliance. Leave it to cool down before cleaning -8 -9 -10.)
  • Clean the plate and the body of the device with a sponge, hot water, and a dishwashing agent -11 -12 -13.
  • The housing and the drip tray can be put in the automatic dishwasher.
  • Make sure the drip tray (D) is in position -14.

Cooking tips

  • Place some water in the drip tray prior to turning on the grill. This will help to eliminate excess smoke and odor. Make sure not to fill the drip tray up to the rim as the oil and grease collected during grilling will make it overflow.
  • Increase or decrease the cooking temperature according to your taste and to the nature of the food. Wait for the ready indicator to turn OFF. This indicates that the grill has reached the desired cooking temperature.
  • For best results and to keep the food from sticking, always make sure to cook on a clean surface.
  • Do not cover the grill when cooking.

The Guarantee***
TEFAL/T-FAL guarantees this product against any manufacturing defect in materials or workmanship during the guarantee period within those countries
as stated in the attached country list, starting from the initial date of purchase or delivery date. The international manufacturer’s guarantee covers all costs related to restoring the proven defective product so that it conforms to its original specifications, through the repair or replacement of any defective part and the necessary labor. At TEFAL/T-FAL’s choice, an equivalent or superior replacement product may be provided instead of repairing a defective product. TEFAL/T-FAL’s sole obligation and your exclusive resolution under this guarantee are limited to such repair or replacement.
Conditions & Exclusions
TEFAL/T-FAL shall not be obliged to repair or replace any product which is not accompanied by a valid proof of purchase. The product can be taken directly in person or must be adequately packaged and returned, by recorded delivery (or an equivalent method of postage), to a TEFAL/T-FAL authorized service center. Full address details for each country’s authorized service centers are listed on the TEFAL/T-FAL website (www.tefal.com) or by calling the appropriate consumer Service center set out in the attached country list. In order to offer the best possible after-sales service and constantly improve customer satisfaction, TEFAL/T-FAL may send a satisfaction survey to all customers who have had their product repaired or exchanged in a TEFAL/T-FAL authorized service center. This guarantee applies only for products purchased and used for domestic purposes and will not cover any damage which occurs as a result of misuse, negligence, failure to follow TEFAL/T-FAL instructions, or a modification or unauthorized repair of the product, faulty packaging by the owner or mishandling by any carrier. It also does not cover normal wear and tear, maintenance or replacement of consumable parts, or the following:
-­using the wrong type of water or consumable
­mechanical damages, overloading
ingress of water, dust, or insects into the product (excluding appliances with features specifically designed for insects)

Consumer Statutory Rights
This international TEFAL/T-FAL guarantee does not affect the Statutory Rights a consumer may have or those rights that cannot be excluded or limited, nor rights against the retailer from which the consumer purchased the product. This guarantee gives a consumer specific legal rights, and the consumer may also have other legal rights which vary from State to State or Country to Country. The consumer may assert any such rights at his sole discretion.
Where a product is purchased in a listed country and then used in another listed country, the international TEFAL/T-FAL guarantee duration is the period for the country of usage, even if the product was purchased in a listed country with a longer guarantee duration. The repair process may require a longer time if the product is not locally sold by TEFAL/T-FAL in the country of usage. If the product is not repairable in the new country of usage, the international TEFAL/T-FAL guarantee is limited to a replacement by a similar or alternative product at a similar cost, where possible.

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Your Tefal product is guaranteed for 2 years. The guarantee covers exclusively the repair of a defective product, but at TEFAL’s choice, a replacement product may be provided instead of repairing a defective product. It is mandatory that the consumer, to have his product repaired, has to log a service request on the dedicated Smartphone application TEFAL SERVICE APP or by calling TEFAL Consumer Care Center at 1860-200-1232, Opening hours Mon-Sat 09 AM to 06 PM. Products returned by Post will not be covered by the guarantee. As proof of purchase, the consumer needs to provide both this stamped guarantee card and cash memo.
