IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following:

  1. Read all instructions before using.
  2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  3. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or fryer in water or other liquid.
  4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to the  nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
  7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  8. Do not use outdoors.
  9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  11. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot food.
  12. Always attach plug to appliance first (depending on model), then plug cord in the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to “off”, then remove plug from  wall outlet.
  13. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  14. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY.
  15. Before use, check that your local voltage corresponds with the specifications shown on the appliance nameplate located under the appliance.
  16. Only connect the appliance to electrical sockets which have a minimum load of 15A. If the sockets and the plug on the appliance should prove incompatible,  get a professionally qualified technician to replace the socket with a more suitable one.
  17. This electrical equipment operates at high temperatures which may cause burns. Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance (lid, plastic parts…).
  18. To ensure safe operation, oversized foods must not be inserted into the appliance.
  19. Do not overload the pan. For safety reasons never exceed the maximum quantity.
  20. The cooking times are given as guidelines only.
  21. Do not leave the cord hanging.
  22. Do not unplug the appliance by pulling on the cord.
  23. Always unplug the appliance immediately after use, when moving it and prior to any cleaning or maintenance.
  24. In the event of fire, never try to extinguish the flames with water. Unplug the appliance. Close the lid, if it is not dangerous to do so. Smother the flames with a  damp cloth.
  25. Do not move the appliance when it is full of hot food.
  26. Never immerse the appliance in water!
  27. This appliance is not suitable for recipes with a high-liquid content (eg. soups, cook-in sauces…).
  28. Never turn on the appliance if the cooking pan is empty.
  29. Do not overfill the cooking pan, never exceed the indicated quantities or maximum food level mark (for French fries only).
  30. This appliance is not intended for deep frying.
  31. This appliance is not intended to be operated using an external timer or separate remote control system.
  32. This appliance is not designed to be used by people (including children) with a physical, sensory or mental impairment, or people without knowledge or experience, unless they are supervised or given prior instructions concerning the use of the appliance by someone responsible for their safety. Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

  34. Do not use for deep frying.

POLARIZATION INSTRUCTIONS (USA/Canada)
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS
Do not use with an extension cord. A short power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

  • Never operate your appliance when empty.
  • Never overload the cooking pan. Comply with the recommended quantities.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

Before using for the first time

  • To remove the lid – open the lid by pressing the lid opening button (B) – fig.1 and press the latches to remove the lid – fig.2.
  • Remove the measuring spoon.
  • Lift the detachable pan handle until you hear a «CLICK» as it locks, in order to remove the pan – fig.3.
  • Remove the paddle by pushing the release button – fig.4.
  • To remove the turn-over ring, pull the clips outwards, then lift it off.
  • Remove the detachable filter – fig.14.
  • All the removable parts are dishwasher safe – fig.6 or can be cleaned using a non abrasive sponge and some washing up liquid.
  • Clean the body of the appliance with a damp sponge and a little dishwashing liquid.
  • Dry carefully before putting everything back in place.
  • Reposition the paddle until you hear the «CLICK» – fig.5.
  • To replace the turn-over ring, place it at the edge of the pan, centre it on the pan and press down until you hear a “CLICK”.
  • When using for the first time, the appliance may give off a harmless odour. This has no impact on the use of the appliance and will soon disappear.

Preparing the food

To avoid damaging your appliance, please follow the quantities of ingredients and liquids given in the manual and the recipe book.
For all recipes, never exceed the maximum level indicated on the removable paddle – fig.7.
Do not leave the measuring spoon inside the pan while cooking food.

  • Open the lid – fig.1.
  • Remove the spoon inside the pan.
  • Place the food in the cooking pan and always observe the maximum amounts (see cooking table p. 13 to 14) and the level for liquid recipes – fig.7.
  • Fill the spoon with the recommended amount of oil (see cooking table p. 13 to 14) and pour the contents evenly onto the food – fig.8.
  • Unlock the handle and push it right back into its housing – fig.9.
  • Close the lid – fig.15.

COOKING

Start cooking

  • Plug the appliance into an electrical socket outlet. The appliance will emit 2 beeps and the screen will display 00 – fig.10.
  • Set the cooking time using the +/- button (see cooking table p. 13 to 14), press the  button – the appliance again emits 2 beeps – fig.11 and the cooking starts thanks to the movement of hot air into the cooking chamber.
  • The selected time is displayed and the second-by-second countdown starts – fig.12. The selection and time displayed is in minutes and only the time displayed below one minute is in seconds.
  • The appliance can be paused. Simply press the button – fig.11, then press this button once more to start cooking again.
  • The time can be changed at any time during cooking by using the + and – buttons – fig.13.
  • In the event of an error or to delete the selected time, hold the  button down for 2 seconds and re-select the time.

Remove the food
When you open the lid, the appliance switches itself off. To restart cooking, close the lid and press the button.
After being open 2 minutes, the appliance is reset.

  • When the cooking is complete, the timer beeps and the display shows 00: the appliance automatically stops cooking what you have prepared. Stop the beeps by pressing one of the +/- buttons – fig.13.
  • Open the lid – fig.1.
  • Lift the handle until it «CLICKS» to remove the pan and the food.

COOKING TIMES

The cooking times are given as a rough guide and may vary depending on the seasonality of the food, its size, the quantities used and individual tastes, as well as the voltage. The amount of oil indicated may be increased depending on your taste and needs. If you want crisper fries, you can add a few extra minutes to the cooking time.

EASY TO CLEAN

Clean the appliance
Never immerse the appliance in water. Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning products. The removable filter must be cleaned regularly. To ensure the quality f your removable pan lasts longer, never use any metal utensils.
We do not recommend the use of any detergent other than dishwashing liquid.

  • Leave it to cool completely before cleaning.
  • Open the lid by pressing the button – fig.1 and press the latches to remove the lid – fig.2.
  • To remove the turn-over ring, pull the clips outwards, then lift it off.
  • Lift the detachable pan handle until you hear a «CLICK», in order to remove the pan – fig.3.
  • Remove the paddle by pushing the release button – fig.4.

A FEW TIPS IN CASE OF PROBLEMS…

The fries are not crunchy enough.| You are not using a potato variety that is recommended for chips.| Choose a potato variety that is recommended for fries such as Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes.
The potatoes are insufficiently washed and/or not completely dried.| Wash potatoes for a long time to remove the starch, drain and dry very thoroughly before cooking. They must be completely dry.
The fries are too thick.| Cut them more thinly. The maximum chip dimensions are 13 mm x 13 mm.
There is not enough oil.| Increase the amount of oil (see cooking table p. 13 to 14).
The filter is clogged.| Clean the filter.
The fries break during cooking.| The quantity is too large.| Reduce the amount of potatoes and adjust the cooking time.
The food stays on the edge of the pan.| The pan has too much food.| Comply with the maximum quantities shown on the cooking table.
Put the turn-over ring in place. Reduce the amount of food.
Max level exceeded.| Reduce the quantities.
Cooking liquids have leaked into the
base of the appliance.| Faulty pan or paddle.| Check that the paddle is correctly positioned, otherwise call the customer Helpline below.
The max level has been

Do not use ActiFry for making recipes with a high liquid content.

TEFAL/T-FAL guarantees this product against any manufacturing defect in materials or workmanship during the guarantee period within those countries* as stated in the attached country list, starting from the initial date of purchase or delivery date.
The international manufacturer’s guarantee covers all costs related to restoring the proven defective product so that it conforms to its original specifications, through the repair or replacement of any defective part and the necessary labour. Conditions & Exclusions**
TEFAL/T-FAL shall not be obliged to repair or replace any product which is not accompanied by a valid proof of purchase. The product can be taken directly in person or must be adequately packaged and returned, by recorded delivery (or equivalent method of postage), to a TEFAL/T-FAL authorised service centre. Full address details for each country’s authorised service centers are listed on TEFAL/T-FAL website (www.tefal.com) or by calling the appropriate consumer Service centre set out in the attached country list. In order  to offer the best possible after-sales service and constantly improve customer satisfaction, TEFAL/T-FAL may send a satisfaction survey to all customers who have had their product repaired or exchanged in a TEFAL/TFAL authorised service centre. The consumer may assert any such rights at his sole discretion.
