Thank you for choosing our espresso coffee maker. Before using the appliance, and to ensure the best use, carefully read these instructions. The safety precautions enclosed herein reduce the risk of death, injury and electrical shock when correctly adhered to. Keep the manual in a safe place for future reference, along with the completed warranty card, purchase receipt and package. If applicable, pass these instructions on to the next owner of the appliance. Always follow basic safety precautions and accident prevention measures when using an electrical appliance. We assume no liability for customer failing to comply with these requirements.

SECURITY INSTRUCTIONS

When using any electrical appliance, basic safety precautions should always be observed.

  • Read all instructions.
  • Before using check that the voltage of wall outlet corresponds to rated voltage marked on the rating plate.
  • This appliance has been incorporated with a grounded plug. Please ensure the wall outlet in your house is well earthed.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons do not immerse cord, plug in water or other liquid.
  • Remove plug from wall outlet before cleaning and when not in use. Allow appliance cool down completely before taking off, attaching components or before cleaning.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner, return appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock or injury to persons.
  • Place appliance on flat surface or table, do not hang power cord over the edge of table or counter.
  • Ensure power cord do not touch hot surface of appliance.
  • Do not place the coffee maker on hot surface or beside fire in order to avoid being damaged.
  • To disconnect, remove plug from wall outlet. Always hold the plug. But never pull the cord.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use and place it in a dry environment.
  • Close supervision is necessary when your appliance is being used near children.
  • Be careful not to get burned by the steam.
  • Do not touch the hot surface of appliance. Use handle or knobs.
  • Do not let the coffee maker operate without water.
  • Do not remove the metal funnel when appliance is brewing coffee or when releasing steam.
  • Connect plug to wall outlet before using and turn any switch.
  • This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Operating or storing environment temperature shall be more than O °C.
  • This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as: staff kitchen areas in shops, offices and other working environments; farm houses; by clients in hotels, motels and other residential type environments; bed and breakfast type envi­ronments.
  • Do not use outdoors.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Before first use
To ensure the first cup of coffee tastes excellent, you should rinse the coffee maker with water as follows:

  • Open the water tank cover, fill appropriate water into the water tank, water level should not exceed the “MAX” mark in the tank, then replace the water tank cover.
    Note : the appliance is supplied with a detachable tank for easy cleaning, you can also fill the tank with water first, and then attach the tank into the appliance.

  • Set the steel mesh into the metal funnel (without coffee), make sure the tube on the funnel aligns with the groove in the appliance, then insert the funnel into the appliance from the “INSERT” position, and you can fix it into the coffee maker firmly by turning it anticlockwise until it is at “LOCK” position.

  • Place an espresso cup on the removable cup shelf, make sure the operation knob is on the “O” position.

  • Connect to the power source, press the power switch to turn on the unit. The power indi­cator will become blue and the coffee indicator will flash white. The appliance will start preheating.

  • When the coffee indicator becomes solid, it shows the preheating is finished. Turn the operation knob to the J2 position. Hot water will flow out.

  • After about one minute, turn the operation knob to the “O” position to stop working, you can pour out the water in a container then clean it thoroughly, now you can start making coffee.
    Note : There may be noise when pumping the water for the first time, it is normal, the appli­ance is releasing the air in the appliance. After about 20s, the noise will disappear.

Preheating
To make a cup of good hot espresso coffee, we recommend you shall preheat the appliance before making coffee, including the funnel, steel mesh and cup, so that the coffee flavour can not be influenced by cold parts:

  • Remove the detachable water tank and open the tank cover to fill it with water, the water level should not exceed the “MAX” mark in the tank. Then attach the water tank into the appliance properly.
  • Set the steel mesh into the metal funnel (without coffee powder), make sure the tube on the funnel aligns with the groove in the appliance, then insert the funnel into the ap­pliance from the “INSERT” position, and you can fix it into the coffee maker firmly by turning it anticlockwise until it is at the “LOCK” position.
  • Place an espresso cup on the removable cup shelf.
  • Then connect the appliance to a power source. Make sure the operation knob is on the “O” position.
  • Press the power switch to turn the unit on, power indicator will become blue and coffee indicator will flash white. The appliance will start preheating.
  • When the coffee indicator becomes solid, it shows the preheating is finished.

Making espresso

  • Remove the metal funnel by turning it clockwise, set the steel mesh into the metal fun­nel. Add coffee powder to the steel mesh with the measuring spoon, a spoon of coffee powder can make about a cup of top-grade coffee, then press the ground coffee powder tightly.

  • Then insert the funnel into the appliance from the “INSERT” position and release the press bar. You can fix it into the coffee maker firmly by turning it anticlockwise until it is at the “LOCK” position.

  • Turn the operation knob to the position, hot water will flow out, you can use it for cleaning or warming your cup.

  • Turn the operation knob to the .a position. The coffee will flow out.

  • Turn the operation knob to the “O” position when the desired amount of coffee is obtained or the colour of coffee becomes weaker obviously, then press the power switch to tun off the unit. The  power indicator will extinguish and the coffee maker stops working, your coffee is ready now.
    WARNING : Do not leave the coffee maker unattended during the process of making coffee, as you need to operate manually sometimes.

  • After finishing making coffee, you can take the metal funnel out by turning it clockwise, then pour the coffee residue out with the steel mesh pressed by the press bar.

  • Let them cool down completely, then rinse under running water.

Making cappuccino
You get a cup of cappuccino when you top up a cup of espresso with frothing milk.
Note : During steaming, the metal funnel must be attached in place.

  • Method: Prepare espresso first on a container big enough according to the part “MAKING ESPRESSO”. Make sure that the operation knob is on the “O” position.

  • Press the steam switch, the steam indicator will flash white. Fill a jug with about 100 ml of milk for each cappuccino to be prepared, it is recommended to use whole warm milk.
    Note : In choosing the size of the jug, it is recommended that the diameter is not less than 70 mm, approximately, and bear in mind that the milk increases in volume by 2 times, make sure the jug is tall enough.

  • Insert the frothing nozzle into the milk at about two centimeters, then turn the operation knob to the position, steam will come out from the steam outlet. Froth milk in the way moving the vessel round from up to down.

  • When the required result is reached, you can turn the operation knob to the “O” position.
    Note : Clean the steam outlet with a wet sponge immediately after the steam stops produc­ing, but care not to hurt!

  • Pour the frothed milk into the espresso prepared, now the cappuccino is ready. Sweeten to taste and if desired, sprinkle the frothed milk with a little cocoa powder.

  • Press the power switch to turn off the unit and the power indicator will extinguish.
    Note : After making steam, if you want to brew coffee immediately, the coffee indicator will flash white for alarming once you press the coffee switch, at this time you should turn the operation knob to the position to make hot water in order to let the unit cool down.

How to produce steam to heat liquids or beverages
The steam wand can be used to make hot beverages like drinking chocolate, water or tea.

  • Method : Remove the detachable tank and fill it with water, the water level should not exceed the “MAX” mark in the tank. Then place the tank into the appliance properly.
  • Then connect the appliance to a power source. Press the power switch to turn on the unit, the coffee indicator will flash white.
  • Press the steam switch, the unit will enter the steam function, the steam indicator will flash white. The appliance will start heating. When the steam indicator becomes solid, it shows the preheating is finished.
  • Dip the steam wand without frothing nozzle sleeve into the liquid to be heated or the intended froth milk. Turn the operation knob to the position.
  • When the required temperature is reached, you can turn the operation knob to the “O” position.
  • Press the power switch to turn off the unit and the power indicator will extinguish.

Automatic power-off function
If there is no operation within 25 minutes, the unit will power off automatically. The unit can be reactivated once you press any switch or turn the operation knob.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Cut off the power source and let the coffee maker cool down completely before cleaning.

  • Clean the housing of the coffee maker with a moisture-proof sponge often and clean the water tank, drip tray and removable cup shelf regularly then dry them.
    Note : Do not clean with alcohol or solvent cleanser. Never immerse the housing in water for cleaning.

  • Detach the metal funnel by turning it clockwise, get rid of coffee residue inside, then you can clean it with cleanser, but at last you must rinse with clear water.
    Note : The filter holder and filter can not be cleaned in the dishwasher.

  • Clean all the attachments in the water and dry thoroughly.

Cleaning mineral deposits

  • To make sure your coffee maker operates efficiently, internal piping is clean and the favour of coffee is optimal, you should clean away the mineral deposits left every 2-3 months.
  • Fill the tank with water and descaler to the MAX level (the scale of water and descaler is 4:1, the detail refers to the instruction of descaler. Please use “household descaler”, you can use citric acid (obtainable from chemist’s or drug stores) instead of the descaler (the one hundred parts of water and three parts of citric acid).
  • According to the program of preheating, put the metal funnel (no coffee powder in it) and jug in place. Brew water as in “PREHEATING”.
  • Press the power switch to turn on the unit. The coffee indicator will flash white. The ap­pliance will start heating.
  • Wait for a moment until the coffee indicator becomes solid, it shows the preheating is finished.
  • Turn the operation knob to the .a position and make two cups of coffee (about 20z). Then turn it to the “O” position.
  • Press the steam switch, the steam indicator will flash white. Wait until the steam indica­tor becomes solid. Turn the operation knob to the position and make steam for 2mins, then turn the operation knob to “O” position to stop making steam. Press the power switch to turn off the unit immediately, make the descaler deposit in the unit at least 15 minutes.
  • Restart the unit and repeat the steps 4-7 at least 3 times.
  • Then brew coffee (without coffee powder) with tap water in the MAX level, repeat the steps of 4-7 for 3 times (it is not necessary to wait for 15 minutes in step 7), then brew until no water is leftin the tank.

The symbol with the crossed dustbin shown on the package indicates that the product at the end of its service life shall be collected as separate waste. Therefore, any products that have reached the end of their useful life must be given to waste disposal centres specialising in separate collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment, or given back to the retailer at the time of purchasing new similar equipment, on a one for one basis. The adequate separate collection for the subsequent start-up of the equipment sent to be recycled, treated and disposed of in an environmentally compatible way contributes to preventing possible negative effects on the environment and health and optimises the recycling and reuse of components making up the apparatus. Abusive disposal of the product by the user involves application of the administrative sanctions according to the laws.
