FAQs

How long should you break in subwoofers?****

We recommend a solid break in time of 20–24 hours. Overnight, you can set it up with a strong, clear signal. You are now prepared to install and continue your journey.

Does it matter where you put a sub in a car?****

You get superior bass production and better sound distribution when you place the subwoofer in the back seat. In rare circumstances, the subwoofer can be pointed either at the floor or at the front seats.

What happens if you don’t break in a sub?****

You run the risk of reducing the subwoofer’s lifespan and diminishing the bass sound quality if you decide not to break it in. While not breaking in a new subwoofer won’t cause any severe harm, it will prevent it from operating at its peak performance.

What happens if you Underpower a sub?****

A subwoofer isn’t necessarily harmed if it is underpowered. If you don’t give it enough strength, the music will sound flat and lacklustre. When an amplifier is working too hard and emitting a clipped signal, that is when there is risk.

How do you know if a subwoofer is powerful?****

Wattages do not determine the loudness at which you will listen to music. The speaker’s power is measured in watts. The higher the wattage, the more potent the speaker. Any subwoofer with a wattage between 150 and 500 is ideal for a fantastic music listening experience and is inexpensive.

What makes a powerful subwoofer?****

The subwoofer in question’s wattage determines its power; a higher wattage indicates a more potent subwoofer.

Is it OK to leave subwoofer on all the time?****

Yes, as long as your subwoofer includes an auto standby mode, you can leave it on constantly. Subwoofers that are in standby use less energy and last longer. Older subwoofers without this feature should be unplugged while not in use since heat created by electricity escaping causes the amplifier to become hotter than usual.

What can damage a subwoofer?****

One of two things has happened when a subwoofer has been damaged or blown to some extent: either it has received too much power or too much signal. Many subwoofers are damaged due to clipped signals, which can also happen when you overpower your subwoofer and apply too much pressure on it.

How long are subwoofers good for?****

A subwoofer can last anywhere from 5 to 14 years. The average person should be able to get 10+ years out of their subwoofer if it is well-maintained and not misused.

Do subs hit harder facing up or down?****

With the subwoofer facing up while in the trunk, you can get powerful bass without taking up much room. This orientation won’t rattle loose parts in your car as much and produces clean sound with a small advantage to high frequencies and treble.

Do subwoofers need to warm up?****

Run your break-in cut at a moderate volume for around 15 minutes after the system is up and running. This provides the amplifier and driver with enough time to adjust and start warming up.

What level should subwoofer be?****

The “normal” or “0 degrees” position is typically appropriate if the subwoofer is in the same plane as the front speakers. When the bass level matches that of your other speakers, adjust the volume or level.

Is a heavier subwoofer better?****

The two aspects of a subwoofer’s performance that are typically regarded as being most crucial are low frequency extension and sound pressure level (SPL). A big subwoofer driver has the capacity to generate a higher SPL and deeper bass than a smaller subwoofer driver, according to the principles of physics.

Does quality of subwoofer matter?****

Without a doubt, quality matters. The quality of the bass reproduction is largely responsible for this. Many poor-quality subwoofers will distort the music or produce resonant tones that are frequently referred to as “Booming” in the sound.

Do subwoofers turn off automatically?****

Many amps and most subwoofers include automatic on or standby settings. On, off, and auto or standby are the most common settings for the power switch. On and off have obvious meanings.
