Set-up/ Operation

PLEASE NOTE: Before connecting this unit to a power supply for the first time, you must first fill the fluid tank with water-based haze fluid. Also, check that the nozzle is clean and unobstructed.

Place the machine on a level surface and loosen the cap of the fluid tank to fill with quality water-based haze fluid. Only use water-based haze fluids. Plug the wired remote control into the socket at the rear of the unit marked REMOTE CONTROL. Switch the haze machine on and allow it to preheat for 2 minutes. Always monitor haze fluid level as running the machine with no fluid could cause permanent damage. Please do not touch or place anything in close proximity to the nozzle during operation or preheating as you could suffer serious burns. It is normal for your haze machine to have a reheating period after dispersing the haze. The unit will shut itself down for a short period in order to reach operating temperature (572° F). Please note that during this time no haze can be produced.

The green light on the remote will illuminate when the unit is ready. If the unit is set to continuous or manual output, automatic dispersal will resume once it has reached the operating temperature. Due to the high operating temperature of haze machines, it is advised that the effect be used in well- ventilated areas, taking care not to obstruct the air vents. After use, allow the unit time to cool down before moving or touching. Not doing so could result in serious burns. These haze machines have been designed to function on a power supply of 110V-60Hz and has been fitted with a suitable power plug. Please be sure to use the same type of fuse as the one provided. Rock Haze units feature two remote controls with various functions.

WIRED REMOTE

fig-2

  1. Yellow knob: Duration: when using the timer feature, this knob controls how long the unit will disperse haze. The dispersion times range from 2 (MIN) to 20 (MAX) seconds.
  2. Green knob: Fan speed: this knob controls the fan speed which determines the “throw” (travel distance) of the haze when it is initially dispersed.
  3. Red knob: Output: controls the amount of haze that is dispersed.
  4. Yellow button: Timer on/off: toggle this button to activate/deactivate timer mode. Used in conjunction with the yellow DURATION knob, it allows you to set the intervals at which the unit will disperse haze and how long the machine will rest between bursts. The rest time will always equal the burst time. For example, if the unit is set to two-second bursts, it will rest for two seconds between bursts.
  5. Red button: Continuous Haze: toggling this button will cause the unit to disperse a continuous stream of haze. You can use the green and red knobs to determine the throw and the amount of haze that will be dispersed. While in this mode, the red LED will remain on. Toggle the button a second to cease hazing.
  6. Green button: Manual haze: gives you the ability to directly control the bursts of haze. Press and hold the button to disperse haze (the green LED will be on). Depress the button to stop (the green LED will be off). Use the green and red knobs to determine the throw and the amount of haze that will be dispersed.
  7. Yellow LED: the yellow LED will light up anytime the timer is in use.
  8. Red LED: the red LED will light up and remain lit during continuous haze dispersion.
  9. Green LED: the green LED will light up and remain lit during manual haze dispersion.
    • WIRELESS REMOTE: When using the wireless remote, be sure to connect the wireless remote receiver to the port at the rear of the unit marked WIRELESS REMOTE RECEIVER. The receiver features a magnetic backing so you can secure it to the unit’s chassis.
  10. Button A: Manual hazing: press and hold the button to disperse haze. Let go of the button to stop haze dispersion.
  11. Button B: Manual hazing: toggling this button will cause the unit to disperse a continuous stream of haze. Toggle the button again to cease hazing.
  12. button: increases haze output.
  13. button: decreases haze output.

The control panel at the rear of the Rock Haze unit allows you adjust and set any one of the three available settings.

MODE: use this button to toggle through the settings.

  • F: fan speed
  • 0: haze thickness
  • A: DMX settings (fan speed and haze thickness)
  • : the up/down buttons will adjust the parameters of the selected setting (fan speed, haze thickness, and DMX settings).
  • ENTER: press this button to save any adjustments made to the parameters of a setting.
DMX OPERATION

Rock Haze units feature 2 channels of DMX controls.

  • Channel 1: controls the output of haze.
  • Channel 2: controls the fan speed (throw of haze).

Installation/ Mounting

This haze machine must be used in a horizontal position on a level surface or it may be mounted using the bracket provided. Whatever method of installation you choose, the haze machine must not have more than a 15° angle of inclination.

PLEASE NOTE: For safety purposes, we suggest the use of a suitable hanging clamp and safety cable.

Cleaning

Cleaning your haze machine regularly will help reduce costly parts replacement and repair charges. We recommend you clean your haze machine after every 40 hours of continuous operation or when the machine will be idle for a long time. Run a cleaning solution composed of 80% distilled water and 20% white vinegar through the system to prevent the accumulation of particles in the heating element.

  1. While unit is unplugged and cool, unscrew nozzle at very front of unit and clean out debris with white vinegar and a pipe cleaner, making sure that the hole is unobstructed.
  2. Empty all haze fluid from the machine and replace with cleaning solution. Plug the unit in and allow to heat up as usual.
  3. Run unit in a well-ventilated area until tank is empty.
  4. Replace nozzle.
  5. The cleaning is now complete. Unplug and wait until it is cool before refilling with Rockville haze fluid or any other water-based haze fluid.
  6. To clean the exterior, wipe with a dry cloth.
  7. Always store the unit dry (no fluid in the tank).

All haze machines are prone to clogging due to the consistency of fluids and the high temperatures at which they vaporize. However, a well-maintained machine should provide years of reliable use.

Maintenance/Servicing

Do not allow haze fluid to become contaminated. Always replace cap after use. There are no user-serviceable parts in this unit. Any work on internal parts should be carried out by a qualified technician. Removal of any covers is considered a breach of warranty.

Troubleshooting

If you experience low output, pump noise, or no output at all, unplug immediately. Check fluid level, check the hose attached to the tank and make sure there are no obstructions and fluid is flowing through the hose, check the external fuse, wired remote connection, wireless remote receiver, and main power supply. Ensure that tank is filled and all other components are working properly. If all appear to be OK, plug the unit in again. If the unit still does not operate properly and you are unable to determine the cause of the problem, contact Rockville for servicing.

ATTENTION: If the unit is unable to produce haze, do not continue to push the remote control button as this may cause permanent damage.

CAUTION: This unit can pose a burn danger if not used properly. Do not obstruct the nozzle. Haze output is very hot; avoid coming within 24 of the nozzle during operation. Output nozzle becomes very hot during operation (572° F). Keep flammable materials at least 2cr away from the nozzle. Always allow the haze machine to cool down before cleaning or servicing. Never use any other type of fluid other than water-based haze fluid. Never drink haze fluid. If it’s ingested, call a doctor immediately. If haze fluid comes into contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water. Beware of condensation around the nozzle. Consider carefully when mounting. All haze machines may sputter small amounts of haze occasionally during operation and for a minute or so after being turned off.
