Introduction

This document contains instructions for attaching the 2.4 GHz Wireless Programmer to your laptop or desktop computer via a USB connection.

Description

The Programmer functions as the interface between wireless hearing aids and computer fitting software.
The Programmer consists of two components: a Docking Station and a Dongle

Installation

  1. Confirm that Inspire X 2014.2 or higher is installed. The Programmer is not supported on earlier versions of Inspire X fitting software.

  2. Insert the USB cable end of the docking station into an available USB port on your computer.
    Note: It is strongly recommended to use the Programmer as it is assembled (dongle plus docking station). Attaching the dongle directly into a computer is not recommended.

  3. The Programmer is designed to be “plug and play” and does not require a CD or a restart of the computer. Device drivers will install automatically

Operation

To use the Programmer:

  1. Verify the Programmer is connected to your computer
  2. Launch Inspire X 2014.2 or higher
  3. Search for the Programmer, if needed, by following the steps below:
    • Select Tools
    • Select Programmers
    • Click Search
    • Select the Programmer to program hearing aids

Regulatory and Service Information

Classification

  • Classification to EN 60950-1 Class II Continuous Operation.
  • Any associated computer used with the 2.4 GHz Wireless Programmer must be an EN 60950 (ISO 950) approved computer.

Power Supply

  • Operating Voltage: 5.0 vDC supplied from the USB port of an EN 60950 (ISO 950) approved computer.

Avoid using the Programmer in areas subject to the following conditions:

  • Static electricity
  • Large amounts of dust
  • Rough handling

The Programmer is designed to be cleaned with a damp cloth moistened with soapy water.

Warnings

  • Do not use paint thinner, benzene, cosmetics or other volatile agents to clean the exterior of the Programmer.
  • Do not spill liquid on the Programmer.
  • Do not place heavy objects on top of the Programmer.
  • Do not insert foreign objects into the connections.
  • Do not open or modify the Programmer. It does not contain any user-serviceable parts.

Wireless Technical Description
Starkey Hearing Technologies 2.4 GHz Wireless Programmer operates in the 2.4 – 2.4835 GHz band with a maximum effected radiated power of 1 dBm with transmission modulation type of 1M33G1D using the Bluetooth Low Energy protocol. The receiver section of the radio has a bandwidth of 2 MHz.
