Safety Notes
-
Please read this manual carefully and use the unit only according to this manual.
-
Dispose of used packaging material carefully or store it out of the reach of children. There is a danger of suffocation!
-
Persons with limited physical, sensorial, or mental abilities are not allowed to use the unit unless they are supervised and briefed for their safety by a qualified person.
-
Never leave the air needle scaler unsupervised when in use. Keep it out of reach of children or persons in need of supervision.
-
Only use the needle scaler according to this instruction manual and for the intended use. The unit has not been designed for continuous, professional use.
-
For your own safety, it is not recommended to use a permanent connection between the air needle scaler and the air hose but use the plug nipple instead.
-
Always control the working air pressure with a pressure regulator.
-
The air needle scaler causes a high sound pressure level. Wear appropriate hearing protection.
-
Wear personal protective clothing such as safety goggles, protective gloves, and protective masks if necessary.
-
Do not use oxygen or flammable gases as power sources.
Only use clean, dry air at 6.3 bar with the air needle scaler. Exceeding the max. the permitted pressure level of 8 bar will significantly reduce the lifetime of the device. -
Disconnect the device from the air supply when not in use, before applying for maintenance work, or before cleaning the needle scaler.
-
Check all connections and hoses for a firm seat and proper functionality. Loose hoses can create a serious risk of injury. Only use safety couplings.
-
Check the unit for any damages and do not use the air needle scaler if it has been damaged.
-
Avoid abnormal posture. Make sure you have a firm foothold and you always hold the balance.
-
Be attentive! Pay attention to what you are doing. Approach your work with circumspection.
-
Do not use the unit when your reactivity is affected by alcohol consumption, medication, drugs, illness, or tiredness. One moment of abstraction operating the unit can cause grave injuries.
-
Please wear convenient work clothes. Wear tight clothes, nonslip footwear, and a hair net if you wear long hair or tie it up. Jewelry and lose clothing may be caught by the moving parts of the tool.
-
Do not use the air needle scaler near flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Sparks may ignite the dust or fumes.
-
Never carry the unit with the hose. Carry it with the housing. Keep the handle dry and free from oil or grease.
-
Attention! Beware of flying chips when working with the air needle scaler.
-
All persons in the immediate working area have to wear eye and ear protection.
-
Do not disassemble the unit and do not try to repair it yourself. In case of questions or problems contact our customer support.
Only use original spare parts.
Operation
Intended Use
- The air needle scaler has been designed for removing rust (stuck chunks of rust are knocked off), for descaling, and for similar applications. The needle scaler can only be used to process massive metal parts, because the high impact rate of the needles may penetrate thinner plates.
- The intended use also includes an operation following the operating instructions.
- Any use beyond these parameters (different media, applying force) or any changes (reconstruction, no original accessory) can lead to serious risks and is regarded as use that is contrary to the intended purpose.
Before first Use
Unpack the air needle scaler and check all parts for any damage in transit.
Dispose of packaging materials or store them out of reach of children. There
is a risk of suffocation.
Operation
-
Screw the needle guide (2) and the air needle scaler together by turning the needle guide clockwise on the thread. Only hand-tight the needle guide.
The air needle scaler is equipped with an R ¼“ air inlet (6). For your own safety it is not recommended to use a permanent connection between the air needle scaler and the air hose, but use the plug nipple (7) instead. -
Seal the end of the plug nipple (7) with Teflon tape before you screw it
onto the air connection of the air needle scaler.
The device has to be provided with lubricating oil during operation. Before each use add oil through the air inlet (6) or use an oil-fog lubricator. Also, read the chapter “Lubrication”. -
Use a flexible hose to connect the air needle scaler to the compressor.
Set up pressure of approx. 6.3 bar on the compressor. Check all air connections for leakages. -
Firmly hold the air needle scaler and put the needle tips (1) up against the workpiece you want to process.
-
Press the trigger (4) and slowly move the air needle scaler along the workpiece. Do not push down the needles too hard against the workpiece.
-
First, disconnect the air needle scaler from the air supply after finished working and when applying for maintenance work.
Replacing the Needle Guide
- The complete needle guide (2) must be replaced if it shows damage or if the needles are severely worn.
- Unscrew the old needle guide (2) using a little force.

Air Pressure and Air Volume
-
Operate the air needle scaler with a pressure of approx. 6.3 bar (90 psi).
Exceeding the max. the permitted pressure level of 8 bar will significantly reduce the lifetime of the device. Operate the air needle scaler using a compressor with an air suction capacity of >113 l/min. The ideal capacity is provided by compressors with a suction capacity greater than 200 l/min. -
Only use air hoses with an inner diameter of at least 9 mm. When setting up the air pressure, always keep in mind that the pressure will decrease by approx. 0.6 bar when using a 10 m long hose with an inner diameter of 9 mm.
Maintenance and Care
- To ensure proper functionality and a long lifetime, diligent lubrication and maintenance are essential.
- For operating pneumatic devices, clean air is required. Corrosion residues, dust, and dirt from the pneumatic pipes reduce the efficiency of the device and will cause technical problems. An upstream maintenance unit consisting of a filter, pressure regulator valve, and lubricating equipment removes moisture and dirt from the air, controls the working pressure, and supplies the device perfectly with lubricating oil.
- If necessary, clean the unit with a moist cloth.
- Do not use abrasive or aggressive chemicals like benzene or thinner, which may dissolve plastic parts.
- Do not allow liquids to enter the unit and never immerse it into liquids.
Water in the compressed air inlet can damage the machine. Therefore it is recommended to drain the airlines and the compressor regularly! The air filters should be cleaned at least once a week.
Lubrication
Pneumatic devices have to be lubricated always sufficiently. This is done
continuously and safest by using an oil-fog lubricator. If the oiler is
mounted centrally at the compressor or mounted firmly at the end of the
compressed air pipe installation, use only a hose with a length of max. 10 m.
If the hose is longer, the nebulization disappears in the air. The oil floats
inside the hose and does not arrive at the air device.
Oiler Setting
Hose up to 5 m every 2 minutes 1 drop Hose up to 10 m every minute 1 drop If
you do not have an oiler at your disposal, please put a few drops of oil into
the compressed-air connection (6) before every machine usage. Lubricate the
air needle scaler once more after use, especially if you do not operate the
unit for
a long time. Further maintenance work is not necessary.
Storing
- Store the unit indoors in a dust and dirt-free location, between 10° C and 30° C. Keep the unit out of reach of children and persons in need of supervision.

The vibration emission level given in this information sheet has been measured in accordance with a standardized test given in EN ISO 11148 and may be used to compare one pneumatic tool with another. It may be used for a preliminary assessment of exposure.
The declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the
pneumatic tool. However, if the pneumatic tool is used for different
applications, with different accessories or insertion tools or is poorly
maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may significantly increase
the exposure level over the total working period.
An exact estimation of the level of exposure to vibration should also take
into ac- count the times when the pneumatic tool is switched off or when it is
running but not actually doing the job. This may significantly reduce the
exposure level over the total working period.
Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects
of vibration such as: maintaining the pneumatic tool and the accessories,
keeping the
hands warm, organization of work patterns.
