Installing Wire-Free Switches

Mounting the Cync Wire-Free Smart Switch

Location + Mounting Type

  1. Decide where you want to mount your switch.
  2. The Wire-Free Switch can be mounted to the wall with screws or adhesive tape.
  3. Choose which install method below is best for your set up.

Install Methods

Mounting with screws – Option A (single-gang wall plate)

Important: Start by removing the clear plastic tab from the back of the switch.

  1. Identify where you want to mount your wire-free switch (switches are typically located 48-52” from the floor to the top of the switch)
  2. Mark the location for holes to be drilled. We suggest using the mounting holes on the switch housing as a guide. Use the level (optional) to ensure the switch is level before drilling holes.
  3. Using 7/32” bit, drill holes in the wall for mounting screws. Insert drywall anchors.
  4. Secure the switch to the wall until level and flush.
  5. Screw on the face plate bracket, then snap the face plate cover onto the bracket.

Mounting with screws –   Option B (2-gang wall plate)

Important: Start by removing the clear plastic tab from the back of the switch.

  1. Remove existing wall plate.
  2. Get the multi-gang wall plate (purchased separately).
  3. Use new wall plate to mark the location for holes to be drilled.
  4. Using 7/32” bit, drill holes in wall for mounting screws. Insert drywall anchors.
  5. Secure the switch to the wall until level and flush.
  6. Screw on the face plate cover onto the bracket.

Mounting with adhesive tape

Important: Start by removing the clear plastic tab from the back of the switch.

  1. Identify where you want to mount your wire-free switch (switches are typically located 48-52” from the floor to the top of the switch).
  2. Prior to installation, be sure that the surface is smooth and degreased.
  3. Apply adhesive tape to the middle back of the switch. Adhesive tab should stick out from the side of the switch. This will be covered by the wall plate and allows removal if needed in the future.
  4. Mount switch to the wall.
  5. Screw on the face plate bracket, then snap the face plate cover onto the bracket.
