Connect the Hombli Smart Doorbell to the app

Follow the steps below to connect the Smart Doorbell to the Hombli app and your Wi-Fi network.

1.1 Download the Hombli App

1.2 Create an account and log in

1.3 Create a family

1.4 Add a new product

1.5 Select the Smart Doorbell from the Cameras category.

1.6 To turn on the Smart Doorbell, press and hold the power button on the back for 3 seconds. The button of the Smart Doorbell will now flash red.

1.7 Select the correct Wi-Fi network and enter the password.

1.8 Scan the QR code that is shown on your phone with the camera of the Smart Doorbell.

1.9 The Smart Doorbell plays a sound if you successfully scan the QR code. It will now connect to your Wi-Fi network.

1.10 Continue to the next screen. The Smart Doorbell will again play a sound to confirm it has been paired and is ready for use.

Pair the Hombli Chime optional

Do you have a Hombli Chime? Pair it to the Smart Doorbell before you mount it on the outside of the house. To install it follow the steps in the manual of the Chime.

Check Wi-Fi connection

Before you start mounting, please check if the Smart Doorbell connects with your Wi-Fi network at your door. Do this by pressing the button of Smart Doorbell at your door and checking if you receive a video stream in the app.

Fully charge the battery

To charge the Smart Doorbell, lift the side cover and insert the micro-USB cable. Connect the other end of the cable to a 5V power adapter or a USB port.

Local storage optional

To use local storage, lift the cover on the side of the Smart Doorbell and insert a MicroSD card (maximum 128GB). The app automatically provides an additional menu in the settings.

Removing the existing doorbell optional

Before you start mounting the Smart Doorbell on a wall, door, or frame, please follow the steps below.
Notes: If your existing doorbell is not using a wired chime, it is not possible to connect the Smart Doorbell directly to the two wires. The Smart Doorbell can handle an alternating voltage of 8-24V. If you need help with this process or live in a country where it is illegal to work in the fuse box, hire a qualified electrician.
6.1 Turn off the power of the existing doorbell.
6.2 Test if the power is cut off by ringing your existing doorbell. It went well if you do not hear a chime.
6.3 Now remove the existing doorbell from the wall or frame.

Place the Bracket (or Corner Mount)

7.1 Decide if you want to use the Corner Mount, which gives the Smart Doorbell an angled view. This is optional.

7.2 Determine at which height you want to place the Smart Doorbell. We recommend a height between 140 and 150 cm for an ideal viewing angle. Also, consider the placement of the wiring of your existing doorbell.

7.3 Choose between two mounting options. Recommended option: screw and plug set (continue to step 4). Alternative option: double-sided 3M tape (continue to step 6).

Note: Choose the 3M tape option if you install the Smart Doorbell on a smooth and clean surface or if you do not want to drill holes.

7.4 Draw where the screws should be. Use the Bracket or Corner Mount for this.

7.5 Drill two holes for the plugs and insert them. Skip this step when installing on a wooden surface.

7.6 Mount the Bracket or Corner Mount with the screws set or 3M tape. If you choose to install with the Corner Mount, mount it first. Then you place the bracket on the Corner Mount.

Connect wiring optional

Follow the steps below to connect your existing doorbell wires to the Smart Doorbell.
Note: Are the wires of your existing doorbell too short? Go to 8.3 to learn how to use the wire extenders.

8.1 For a wired installation, insert the two wires through the upper large opening and hold the Bracket or Corner Mount in the desired position.

8.2 Loosen the screws on the back of the Smart Doorbell with approximately 3 rotations. Attach the wires of the old doorbell. Then tighten the screws firmly again.

Note: The color of the wires does not matter. Also, it does not matter which wire you attach left and right. Make sure that the metal parts of the wires do not touch each other.

8.3 If the existing wires are too short to connect to the back of your Smart Doorbell, please use the provided wire extenders and wire nuts. Strip the wire extender, insert it together with the existing wire in the wire nut and twist them together.

Place the Hombli Smart Doorbell in the bracket

Attach the Smart Doorbell to the bracket by inserting the top of the Smart Doorbell into the bracket and then pressing the bottom side into the bracket. Tighten the safety screw at the bottom with the supplied Hex key.

Turn on the power with a wired installation optional

Switch the power back on in the junction box back so that there is the voltage on your Smart Doorbell. Test whether your existing chime responds to the Smart Doorbell by pressing the button on the Smart Doorbell.

Connect to Google and Alexa optional

The Smart Doorbell is compatible with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa speakers. Check out our installation guides and instruction videos to learn how to connect them.
