PARTS DESCRIPTION

BEFORE THE FIRST USE

  • Remove all packaging materials from your grill. Be sure all parts (see pages 2-3) have been included before discarding any packaging materials. You may want to keep the box and packing materials in the event that the unit has to be shipped in the future.
  • Before using your 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press for the first time, wipe the base, cover, and control with a damp cloth. Thoroughly clean cooking plates and drip tray; all are dishwashers safe.
  • Position the 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press on a flat, level, and heat-resistant surface, making sure that it is also positioned at least 6 inches (15 cm) away from any surrounding objects.
  • It is recommended to let the 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press heat for about 20 minutes without any food in it. This helps to eliminate grease that may have adhered during manufacturing and to eliminate the “new” appliance smell.
  • Ventilate the room during this period. When your 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press is heated for the first time, it may emit slight smoke or odor. This is normal with many heating appliances. This does not affect the safety of your appliance.

Caution: When moving the 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press, make sure that you hold it securely and support the base—do not rely solely on the handle when moving the 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press!

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Place base on a clean, heat-resistant, and flat surface where you intend to cook, with the controls directly in front of you.

HOW TO INSERT AND REMOVE THE COOKING PLATES:

  1. Choose the side(s) you intend to cook on. The two cooking plates each have two sides:
  2. Grill side: Ribbed surface intended for grilling or searing steaks, hamburgers, chicken, seafood, and vegetables. Can also be used for panini and other toasted sandwiches.
  3. Griddle side: Smooth surface intended for cooking bacon and eggs, pancakes, and French toast. Can also be used for panini and other toasted sandwiches.
  4. Locate the metal brackets at the back of the housing. Tilt the back end of the plate and line up the cutouts at the back of the plate with the metal brackets. Slide the plate underneath the brackets and push down the front end of the plate. It will snap into place. Insert the second plate into the upper housing as you did with the first plate.
  5. To remove the plates simply use the plate release button located on the sides of the upper and bottom cooking plates. Once released, gently slide the plates off the grill.
  6. IMPORTANT: Always ensure the grill is completely cool before manipulating the grill plates. Always use the handle to open the top plate to a 90-degree position prior to removing or interchange plate positions.

PLATE POSITIONS:

  1. STORAGE Position – Upper plate/cover rests flat on the lower plate/base and cover height adjuster is in “Lock” position.
  2. PREHEAT Position – Upper plate/cover rests flat on the lower plate/base and cover height adjuster is in “Open” position.
  3. OPEN COOKING Position
    • Place the cover height adjuster in Open position and use the handle to lift the upper plate to a vertical position. See “Using the appliance” section to see how to use the lower cooking plate only.
  4. CLOSED COOKING Positions:
    • Contact Grill or Panini Press: Start with unit in Open Cooking position. Lower top carefully until plate contacts food. Hinge will automatically release the plate, allowing it to “float” and rest evenly on food.
    • Top Melt: Start with unit in Open Cooking position. Lower top carefully to the desired height, then slide the cover height adjuster into a notch to set the position between “Low” and “High”. Wearing an oven mitt press down slightly on front of upper plate/cover to release the hinge, allowing the plate to “float” above the food.
  5. FLAT / OPEN COOKING Position
    • To cook on Full Grill, Full Griddle, or Half Grill/Half Griddle (upper plate/cover opened to lie flat, level with the lower plate/base). To adjust to this position from the Preheat or Closed Cooking positions, put on oven mitts, slide the cover height adjuster to the “180° Open” position while pushing the handle back. The upper plate/cover will sit flat, resting on the handle.
    • To adjust to this position from Open Cooking position, grasp handle and pull slightly forward, then slide the cover height adjuster up while pushing the handle back. The upper plate/cover will sit flat, resting on the handle.

USING THE APPLIANCE

  1. Ensure the cooking plates and drip tray are correctly inserted and securely locked into position.
  2. Insert the power plug into a wall socket. Your 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press is now ready for use!
  3. Make sure the 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press is in the PREHEAT position (closed upper plate and cover height adjuster in Open position). This will ensure faster, more efficient preheating. This Kalorik Pro Contact Grill & Panini Press has embedded heating elements to ensure consistently high heat for faster cooking and reduced preheating time.

TIMER

Use the Timer knob (left knob) to set the cooking time. Simply turn the knob to the right to increase the cooking time or turn it to the left to decrease the time. The selected time will appear on the screen.
The timer will start counting down a few seconds after being set.
NOTE : The unit doesn’t automatically turn off once the timer reaches 0:00. The grill keeps working after the cooking time is elapsed. To turn the unit OFF turn both temperature knobs to the OFF Position.
As a security feature, the 6-in-1 Grill turns off automatically after 1 hour of continuous use.

COOKING MODES

1. Sync Mode
Use the sync mode to cook in closed or flat cooking positions with the same temperature on both cooking plates. To use, simply use the “Lower” knob located to the right of the front of the unit and turn it to the desired temperature.
The SYNC mode is activated by default when the unit turns on. Using the “Lower” knob automatically sets the temperature for both cooking plates. Dual- Zone Mode

  • To cook with a different temperature on the upper and lower cooking plate, push the SYNC button to deactivate the SYNC function. The word “SYNC” will disappear from the screen. With the SYNC function deactivated, use the “Lower” (right) knob to select the temperature of the lower cooking plate and use the “Upper” (center) knob to select the temperature of the upper cooking plate.
Use this mode in flat/open or closed cooking positions.

  • To cook with the lower plate only, deactivate the SYNC function and select the temperature of the lower plate with the “Lower” (right) knob. Keep the “Upper” (center) knob on the OFF Position. This mode should be used with the Open cooking position.

  • The temperature of the UPPER PLATE and/or LOWER PLATE can be set from 195°F to 480°F (90°C to 250°C).

  • Note : the temperature units can be switched from Fahrenheit to Celsius by pressing the °F/°C button.

  • After the temperature is set, the screen will turn red to indicate that the unit is heating. The word “PREHEATING” will appear on the screen until the cooking plates reach the set temperature.

  • NOTE: The first time you use the 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press, it may have a slight odor and may smoke a bit. This is normal and common to appliances with nonstick surfaces.

  • When the set temperature is reached, the unit will beep once and the word “READY” will appear on the screen. You can now place your food on the cooking plate(s) and start cooking. You may vary the setting of the control knob at any time during cooking.

  • NOTE : The unit will only show “READY” when both plates have reached their set temperature.

  • To turn the plate(s) off, simply turn the temperature dial(s) to the OFF position. The screen will turn back blue to indicate that the unit has been turned off.
NOTE : If the unit is on and heated for more than 1 hour, it will automatically shut off. This is a safety feature of the 6-in-1 Contact Grill & Panini Press. To reactivate, simply turn either dial.
