POLARIZED PLUG INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into the polarized outlet only one way. If the plug dies not properly fit into the outlet at first, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a competent qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.

SHORT CORD INSTRUCTIONS

A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

BEFORE THE FIRST USE

  • Carefully unpack the grill and remove all packaging materials.
  • Before cooking for the first time, wash the grill in mild dishwashing soap. Wipe and allow to dry.
  • Turn the temperature control to the maximum temperature (450˚F) and heat the grill alone for approximately 5 minutes. This will ensure the nonstick coating is ready for use. Note: You may notice a slight odor; this is normal and should quickly disappear.
  • Turn the temperature control to OFF and allow to cool for 15 minutes.

NOTE: Make sure that the temperature control probe, located on the side of the skillet, is completely dry prior to use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  • Place the appliance on a flat, heat resistant, stable surface in a ventilated area.
  • Make sure the temperature control is in OFF position. Insert the temperature control probe into the side of the grill, then insert plug into electrical outlet.
  • Adjust the temperature control to desired setting. NOTE: The indicator light on the temperature control probes indicates the heat setting. When the desired setting is reached, the light will turn off. It will continue to cycle on and off during use to indicate heat setting is being automatically maintained
  • Preheat the grill for 10 minutes or until the indicator light goes out.
  • Place food directly onto cooking surface and cook to desired doneness.
  • When finished cooking, turn the temperature control OFF and remove plug from power outlet.

IMPORTANT: To avoid burn injury, wait until the appliance has cooled down completely before removing the temperature control probe.

NOTE: Use medium to low heat for best cooking results. Very high temperatures can cause discoloration and shorten the life span of any nonstick surface. If higher temperatures are necessary, preheat on medium for a few minutes.

TIPS FOR USE

  • Before using the grill for the first time, lightly brush cooking surface with vegetable oil. Heat to 300°F, then turn OFF and allow to cool completely. Wipe away any excess oil.
  • Do not attempt to cool the heated cooking surface by pouring cold water onto the grill. The sudden temperature change may cause the cooking surface to warp.
  • Do not immerse the temperature control probe, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.

CAUTION! Wait for all components to cool thoroughly after use before disassembling. Always handle hot components with oven mitts while cooking or hot.

  • Before cleaning, be sure to unplug the cord from the outlet. If necessary, wipe the cord with a damp cloth.
  • Allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning. The drip tray can be placed in the bottom rack of the dishwasher or washed by hand, while the grill plate and base have to be cleaned by hand with a warm, damp cloth and mild liquid soap.
  • Always be sure to wash the grill surface after each use to remove any grease that may have accumulated. To keep grease from dripping outside of the base, always ensure that you are using your Indoor Electric Grill on a level surface and that the drip tray is completely clear of food particles.
  • Use a damp cloth to clean the base. Do not use scouring pads or harsh cleaners on this unit. If necessary, use a nylon bristle brush or plastic scrubbing pad.
