  3. The microwave oven must be placed on
a flat, stable surface that can support the weight of the oven and the food to be cooked.

  4. Do not put the microwave oven where
it can be exposed to heat, moisture or humidity. Do not place it near flammable materials.

  5. The microwave oven must have an adequate flow of air to work properly. Place the microwave oven so that it has 20 cm of free space above, 10 cm behind, and 5 cm on each side. Do not block the openings on the microwave oven. Do not remove the feet on the microwave oven.

  6. Do not use the microwave oven without the glass plate, or if the support rollers and the rotation axis are not in the correct position.

  7. Check that the power cord is not damaged and that it is not lying under the microwave oven, or on hot surfaces or sharp edges.

  8. The plug must be easily accessible so that it can be easily pulled out in an emergency.

Radio interference

Interference on radios, televisions or other similar equipment can occur when the microwave oven is in use. To reduce interference:

  • Clean the oven door and contact surfaces.
  • Move the radio or TV antenna.
  • Move the microwave oven in relation to the receiver.
  • Move the microwave oven away from the receiver.
  • Plug the microwave into a different circuit than the radio/TV receiver.

Connection to the mains supply

The microwave oven must be earthed. The plug must be plugged into a correctly installed and earthed power point. The microwave oven should be connected to a separate circuit.

Cooking food

  1. Place the food so that the thickest part is near the edge of the utensil.
  2. Check the cooking time. Select the shortest suggested time and then increase, if necessary. Overcooked food can start to smoke or catch fire.
  3. Cover the food with a micro lid during the cooking. This prevents splashing inside the microwave oven and the cooking is more uniform.
  4. Turn the food during cooking to reduce the cooking time (e.g. for chicken and hamburgers). Large pieces, such as roasts, must be turned at least once.
  5. Meatballs and similar food should be stirred halfway through cooking (from the sides to the middle of the utensil and vice versa).

Choice of utensil

  • Microwaves cannot pass through metal and therefore metal utensils or plates with metal edges should not be used.
  • Do not use utensils made of recycled paper in the microwave oven, they can contain small metal fragments that can cause sparks and fire.
  • Use round or oval dishes instead of square/ rectangular ones, as food in the corners, will often be overcooked.

MAINTENANCE

NOTE : Switch off the microwave oven and pull out the plug before cleaning.

  • Keep the inside of the oven clean. Wipe off any splashing and liquid with a damp cloth. Use a mild detergent if the microwave oven is very dirty. Avoid using strong or abrasive detergents that can produce stains and streaks, or dull the surface of the door.
  • Clean the outside of the microwave oven with a damp cloth. Do not allow water to get into the ventilation openings, this can damage the microwave oven.
  • Wipe both sides of the door and window, the door seals and adjacent parts at regular intervals with a damp cloth to remove stains and splashing.
  • Do not use abrasive detergents.
  • Clean the control panel with a lightly moistened cloth. Leave the door open when cleaning the control panel, to prevent starting the microwave oven by mistake.
  • Wipe with a soft cloth if condensation forms on the inside, or around the edge of the door. Condensation can develop when the microwave oven is used in humid conditions. This is not unusual.
  • Remove and clean the glass plate when necessary. Clean it with hot water and washing-up liquid, or in a dishwasher.
  • The rotation ring and bottom of the oven should be cleaned at regular intervals so  the ring can move freely. Wipe thebottom of the oven with a mild detergent. The rotation ring can be cleaned with water and a mild detergent, or in a dishwasher. Make sure the ring is replaced in the oven in the right way after cleaning.
  • Bad smells in the oven can be removed with the peel and juice of a lemon mixed with 2.5 di of water in a microwavable bowl. Put the bowl in the oven for 5 minutes. Wipe the oven thoroughly with a soft cloth.
  • The oven should be regularly cleaned and any scraps of food removed. Failure to keep the oven clean can degrade the surface finish. This will reduce the useful life of theM microwave oven and can put safety at risk.
  • The first time the grill function is used the microwave oven may smoke and smell alittle. This is quite normal and is caused by burning off oil from the manufacturing. The smoke and smell will go away after a while. Contact a service centre if the light in the microwave oven needs replacing.
