Instructions Manual
includes:
2 x wooden rings
3 x wooden beads
1 x 14m macrame
Note: Refer to the knot diagrams on the backside for instructions on how to perform knots.
Bead Ring Tassel
Requirements:
1x 175cm macrame cord
3 x 29cm macrame cord
1x 5cm wooden ring
1x bead
Instructions:
- Find the center point of the 175cm cord and tie a Larks Head Knot around the ring.
- Take the right cord and go over the ring and pull a knot inside. Now, go under the ring and pull a knot through. Repeat until halfway around the ring.
- Repeat step 2 on the opposite side with the left cord.
- Thread the remainder 2 cords through a wood bead and tie a knot approx. 8-10cm above to hang.
- Cut 3 pieces 29cm long and lay them side by side. Find the center point of the 29cm cords and tie a Larks Head Knot altogether at the bottom of the ring in the center.
- Unravel the cord ends and brush through with brush or comb for a tidy fringe.
- Cut ends for a tidy finish.
Tree Ornament
Requirements:
1x 60cm macrame cord
14 x 10cm macrame cord
16 x 15cm macrame cord
1x bead
Instructions:
- Cut 60cm length, find the center, fold the cord in half, and thread through the bead. Keep the bead 5cm from the end and tie a knot under the bead.
- Tape the top to a bench
- Starting with the 10cm cord, create Reef Knots down the length of the center base cord. Start by grabbing 2 pieces of 10cm cord and fold both in half. Face the center points towards each other and place one underneath the base cord and one over the top. Thread the ends through the loops and pull together, pushing the knot towards the top of the base cord. ( Note: Alternate which cord goes under and which cord goes over after every knot.)
- Repeat step 3 for all 10cm pieces, then for all 15cm pieces.
- Once finished knotting, cut the cord into the desired tree shape.
- Unravel the cord and brush through using a brush or comb for a tidy fringe.
Star Ornament
Requirements:
18 x 33cm macrame cord
1 x 25cm macrame cord
1x bead
1x wooden ring
Instructions:
-
Fold each 33cm piece in half and tie a Larks Head Knot around the ring until all 18 cords are knotted on.
-
Separate cords into 6 sections -3 knots per section.
-
Focus on one section at a time.
Using inner 4 cords, tie a Square Knot – Fold the right cord over the middle two cords, then fold the left cord under the middle two cords and pull through right cord opening, pull tightly up the middle cords. Then repeat the process putting the left cord over and the right under. -
Using the 2 cords furthest to the right, make a Double Hitch Knot – Cross the far-right cord over the top of the cord to its left, create the knot using the cord underneath and bring it over and through the loop. (Note: When pulling the knot together, the cord that started on the right should be pulled towards the right and the other one pulled downwards.) Next, using the right cord again, cross it over the top of the left cord and create the knot using the same cord by going underneath and pulling tightly.
-
Leave the right (shorter) cord and move onto the next cord to the left and repeat step 4.
-
Repeat steps 4 and 5 on the opposite side of the same section.
-
Using the 2 inner cords, create another Double Hitch Knot by crossing the right cord over the left and using the bottom cord to fold over and through the loop, pulling tightly.
Then, use the right cord again to cross over the top of the left and tie the knot with the same string, going under and through the loop. -
Cut the excess cord to approx. 2cm long or to your liking.
-
Repeat steps 3-8 for the remaining sections.
-
Grab the 25cm cord and fold it in half. Tie a Larks Head Knot to the wood ring, thread a bead on and tie a knot to create a hanger for your ornament.
-
Unravel the excess threads and use a brush or comb to create a fringe.
